Spiderhead (2022)
Clockwork Orange did it better
It basically came down to controlling aberrant behavior through drugs, similar to how A Clockwork Orange did it through conditioning. The difference is this movie is dull and predictable. As in, you can see Miles Teller dosing Thor from a mile away.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Wow, thank God they had experts in just the fields they needed
Too much of the movie relies on deus ex machina to be enjoyable.
Cobra Kai (2018)
When a show's plot hinges on a lack of repercussions, it falls flat
Let's see, Johnny assaults a car salesman? No arrest. That stupid Stingray assaults kids at the school? No arrest. Kids assault a teacher? No arrests. Lazy writers.
Jack Ryan (2018)
A show written by people with no knowledge of how spying works
Tom Clancy's books are layered and nuanced. This is a Homeland ripoff for people who don't want to think and only want action. It's too rushed and focuses too much on action and not enough on character and plot development.
Black and Blue (2019)
Want a real NOPD story?
An off duty cop shot and killed another officer...while committing a robbery. But that doesn't fit the agenda. Guess why.
Hell or High Water (2016)
We get it, banks are bad.
So it's ok if people die, including a Texas Ranger, so the hero bank robber can get back at the greedy evil bank. Try to he a little less transparent.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Not just a great Star Trek movie, it's a great movie period.
Incredibly suspenseful and brilliantly directed. The standoff scene is one of the best in movie history.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016)
One scene early on sets the tone for this movie
Jack is talking to Turner's attorney and he blurts out that Jack is being sued for paternity. Really? Could that be any more awkwardly shoehorned into the scene? And then without getting any more info he finds her, just like that. So many plot holes and so much poor writing. It lacks the dry humor and action of the novels.
The Terminators (2009)
Bad even by Asylum standards
And that's saying something. Bad acting, terrible special effects. And who wrote it? Holy crap, the movie made no sense.
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015)
Waste of time
Poor acting, poor storyline, stupid ending. At what point does it become completely absurd to keep a huge, heavy 80's vintage video camera in your hand instead of saving your daughter? One particular dumb line of dialogue is when the token hot hippie mystical aunt says she has heard of spirit photography. Just like that, a stupid plot point is explained away. I know they had to tie it into the previous movies, but it was ham-handed at best. It was all about jump scares. Nothing else. The director didn't manage to create a scary atmosphere. Not even suspenseful. I took my 15 year old daughter and her friends to see this, and they laughed out loud at every "scare." Save your money.
