Love Is Blind (2020)
Addictive
Don't believe the tag, no one is really looking for love - its a bunch of semi attractive, media hungry, manipulative and very unlikable people doing what they do best.
There are zero genuine connections, every interaction is contrived and scripted, and as usual the show is heavily edited so that the viewer buys into the "personalities" each character is supposed to have. The only reason they pick someone is so that they can continue on the show.
Saying that, I can't stop watching it - I even watched after the alter-
Absolutely a guilty pleasure and I will definitely watch any more series they put out.
The Rookie: Threshold (2021)
Great ending
As an actual fan of the show, rather than a Bob Morley rep, I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I realise that in the 'real' world things wouldn't happen this way, bit I wasn't looking for a real life police procedural show. I watch the Rookie to be entertained and this show ticks all the boxes.
Really looking forward to the next season!
The InBetween (2019)
Why cancel it?
Just discovered this and binged it. I love it all: the scenery, the characters and the story lines. So nice to have something refreshingly different!
I just don't understand why something like this that makes you think, while shows like "how to get a away with murder" - or "blacklist" which have such repetative and ridiculous story lines and the characters change personality each week carry on series after series
Deputy (2020)
It's not political, it's real
I felt incredibly uncomfortable in the first episode, which I can only assume was the aim of the show.
I honestly don't understand all the "grown ups" who review this and other shows badly because they don't like seeing the realities that the majority of people living in their country suffer.
I absolutely love this show, the characters are rough but I love them all after 2 episodes. I love the filming, which can make you feel a bit disoriented-.but then, who doesn't feel that way in life these days.
The stories are upsetting,(but realisitc) but there are plenty of shows that gloss over realities if that's what you are looking for.
Hawaii Five-0 (2010)
Enough with the bickering!!!
I loved this show in the beginning, but after Chin and Kono keft it became the Steve and Danny bickering like children show. I can't remember a single recent story line because these 2 are so annoying - gave it a series without Con and Kono, but thats enough. Can't believe how many good shows are being cut while this us allowed to continue. Not even being locked in and 9 months of curfew has made me desperate enough to go back to watching this!
S.W.A.T.: 3 Seventeen Year Olds (2020)
Heartbreaking
When this show first started it was slammed for not being realistic. And now for being too realistic.
The show is about a black SWAT officer's experience living and working in LA. And this is what they did tonight. They showed what life is and has been for black men in America through th eyes of 3 generations of men at the ages of 17 - how they still face the same issues now that they faced 40 years ago.
I have loved SWAT since it first started, but this moved me to tears.
They don't have to show a balanced view, although I think they did when Hicks showed how he has evolved. They never said all cops were bad, they just talked about their experiences.
Just because this isn't your real life, it doesn't mean it isn't millions of other people's reality.
Thank you to the writers and actors for bringing such an emotive issue to us in such an eyeopening way and cementing this as my favorite show of the year!
Reckoning (2019)
Can't decide what is the worst part
The very unlikable characters?
The unbelievable story lines?
The ridiculous police 'procedures'?
The unresolved subplots?
The terrible accents?
All 3 stars are for the beautiful scenery, although previously burnt australian forests are not a convincing substitute for red wood forests of N California.
Would have been better if they had actually set it in Australia and let the actors show off their talent rather than focusing on trying to sound American.
The Old Guard (2020)
Would be great as a series
I really like the concept and the relationships between the characters was so well done.
Would like to see this as a series, its been a while since there was one with characters I want to learn more about.
Upload (2020)
Where is series 2?
I haven't loved a show this much in as long as I can remember!
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (2020)
Uurrrgghhh
I love the Lincoln Rhyme books and tolerated the movie because of the great actors. But as other reviewers have said, this is just another cop show. The Lincoln Rhyme character.... words fail, and this rest of the characters ... even worse. Other than the names, there is nothing left of Jeffery Deavers wonder masterpiece in this show
Casual (2015)
Started well
I really loved the first series, liked the second - and now on episode 10 of the third and I realised I just can't watch it anymore because I want to punch Valerie. Was she like this all the way through. I have to say in the middle of all the absolutely ridiculous, but mostly amusing, story lines, the most unbelievable is that Jack or any other man would want to be with her.
She thinks she is superior to everyone, is a total narcissist, is rude has no impulse control whatsoever - and is just unpleasant. She doesn't seem to be capable of being polite to anyone. I laughed out loud in one episode, but only beciase she describes her young date of being totally un self aware, when she is the most un self aware character I have ever seen.
I could carry on and on, but i'm boring myself now almost as much as this season ...
S.W.A.T. (2017)
Entertaining
I watch this sort of show for entertainment. The world can be such a harsh place that I am happy to have something like this to escape into.
I honestly don´t understand why people need something like this to be realistic. If I wanted to watch a show about real SWAT procedures then I´m sure there´s a documentary or reality TV show about it. If you want real life there is always the news. This is no less realistic than Criminal Minds, which I really enjoy too.
I don´t usually leave reviews, but I really think some of them on here are way too harsh. I nearly didn´t watch at all based on the reviews, but I am happy that I did.
I´m only on the 3rd episode and I´m really enjoying it. I like the camaraderie of the team, and that despite their differences they all come together when necessary. The development of the relationships, and now finding out more about the personal lives of each of the team. The filming is great, showing LA at it´s best. And I like the fact that they choose to do things the kind way rather than the LAPD way. I did have a giggle when a suspect walked away from Honchos questioning only to walk into the whole team standing around waiting outside.
Oh, and really enjoying the soundtrack. Looking forward to further developements
