Forbrydelsen (2007)
The best series I've ever watched.
If you enjoy tense crime thrillers then this is perfect for you. I was given this as a Christmas present a couple of years ago by my aunt and told it was a must-see. Little did I know that I'd be hooked! We started watching the first episode and ended up watching 5 in one night. I have an annoying tendency to ask questions through films and TV series but I didn't utter a word! The style of acting & the flow of the filming, it's just flawless. The Danish just make series SO well! Sarah Lund as a character is unforgettable, one of the greatest I believe. She is unlikeable in some ways, very closed and awkward but you can't help but love her. Because of The Killing and it's epicness, it has created a love of Danish dramas in me. I moved on to The Bridge, Those Who Kill and Borgen and although absolutely spectacular, didn't come close to The Killing. If you have quite a few hours a night spare or you have good will power to stop watching after one episode, then have a watch! You definitely won't be disappointed!
The Walking Dead (2010)
The best thing since The Killing (Forbrydelsen)
This is AMAZING! Why or how was it not in my life sooner? I started watching this two weeks ago because I remembered it on Bad Lipreading (on YouTube) and finished season 4 today. I was hooked, I watched episodes until 2am and even then I couldn't sleep because I was thinking 'that was so epic!'. I was/am emotionally attached to the characters, they just blew me away. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is superb & Daryl (Norman Reedus) is my utmost favorite character by far. I was gripped from the start. Every moment counts and you grow with the characters. I cannot express how good this show is. I cannot wait till season 5 in October! I love series like The Killing (the Danish version), Game of Thrones and Prison Break but this exceeds them. Please please watch it if you want to be carried by a story so epic that you'll be thinking about the next episode all day when you're sat bored at work.
The Inbetweeners (2012)
God awful.
What can I say? The humor is just like any other American comedy show - tacky, slap stick and in your face. US viewers probably will enjoy this but it doesn't even come close to the UK original. It's almost offensive that there's been a remake this bad. Just like the Danish version of The Killing (one of the most amazing series ever made), there just HAD to be a US remake didn't there? Oh and Gavin and Stacey...which I'm sure will be appalling. How about just enjoying the originals instead of making your own? As American TV goes, the makers of this monstrosity have made everyone more attractive except for the 'comedy' fat boy. I do genuinely feel lucky to be British when it comes to a sense of humor. There's none of this slap stick comedy and it's much more subtle. I won't be watching anymore of these.
