Wifelike (2022)
Elena Kampouris is brilliant as synthetic Meredith
Compliments to Elena Kampouris, who acted brilliantly as synthetic Meredith. Even down her tiny gestures and facial expressions, Elena is convincing as a "synthetic" woman. She's very impressive... a big star in the making!
The movie was very good until the last portion, when James Bird's script took a sharp turn. Abruptly, Jonathan Rhys Meyers' personality shifts and he becomes the villain of the story. Also, the character of Meredith is used as a vehicle for the film to preach a feminist activist message.
The last portion somewhat spoiled the overall movie for me personally. I think it'd have resulted in a better movie if James Bird had taken his story in other directions.
Have Gun - Will Travel (1957)
Wonderful WRITING!!! WRITING here will probably fuel future writers.
Lots of those episodes are models of EXCELLENT WRITING!!!.
Writers on this old tv show must've challenged each other like we surfers at a break challenge each other to do better & better, creating a cultural momentum that elevated the WRITING in that environment, trending toward EXCELLENT WRITING!
Prediction: In future other writers will mine these stories and hide essences of them in their other future scripts.
(It's absolutely incredible that a guy as physically ugly and lacking personal charisma as Richard Boone could've landed a leading man role in a tv series. Boone did an O. K. job, but other guys not handicapped by Boone's truly ugly face also could've played that role - and what a great paying Hollywood role that would've been.)
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Whomever wrote this
Whomever wrote the WW2 story...please don't let them write WW3!!!
The excellence of the first movie got muddied by the bad story of the 2nd movie. There's still hope for the series, if IF IF an actually talented story writer is hired for WW 3.
Almost Paradise (2020)
Excellent!
Writing, direction, pacing, cinematography...all EXCELLENT! After only 2 episodes I feel invested. The stories are real good, and the action is great. Continue like this, and surely this show will succeed.
Blood & Treasure (2019)
Some things just SHINE through
In this instance, ALAS!, it's a fundamental arrogance basic in the personality of the female lead. And, arrogance BASED ON WHAT?
It just oozes through that she the person, behind the actress, really does believe in her core that she's above others, as if she's the one who cured cancer or solved homelessness or something significant. Naw...she;s just flat an arrogant person in her core that's the predominant quality that shines through her acting persona,m ruining this production. With an ACTRESS in the lead this would've been a big winner! With her it's a dead-on-arrival stinker.
The Brave (2017)
Not = "The Unit" but still O.K.
The Unit may have been a highwater mark for tv.
WISH they would've continued The Unit into season5 and more, and a movie (movie series!)
The Unit was fantastically multidimensional . . .The Brave has a flat, uni-dimensional and frankly almost dead chemistry among the players. It's like when 3-d cartoons (roadrunner & coyote) shifted to flat 2-d cartoons of today.
Side note: Anne Hesche achieved fame as an "actress" . . .you must be joking, She's absolutely HORRIBLE.
The Brave is a great metaphore for how pop media in 2018 is a faint, pale echo of the vastly superior media 10/20 years ago.
