Fun, retro look at Sam Axe and his history.
17 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Backgrounder for Sam Axe, our much adored side kick to Michael Weston. Totally in character, well laid out. Even answers the oft spoken question of from where the name 'Chuck Finley', Sam's alter ego, arises. Hokey special effects, less than strict attention to detail as to military rank, uniforms, and protocols. Yet, enjoyable all the same. Should be released as a DVD copy, especially with outtakes and bloopers. Written by Matt Nix, so we get the delicious inside jokes and humor we know from Burn Notice. Good direction by Jeff Donovan, plus his appearance is an appealing portion of foreshadowing. It would be nice to have similar retro looks at Michael and Fiona's beginnings.

good first film...great premise
11 December 2005
Great story line. crude body special effects, but understandable on a No budget film. I love how the film maker, Marc Pilvinsky, plays the "repent" homeless man. His sign, "The End Is Near" may just be telling us literally that the film will end soon, or figuratively, that for the main character, his demise is preeminent.

As a part of his emergence as a young gun film maker, Marc Pilvinsky and crew are beginning to explore much of human behavior. With enough time and money, conflict can be see as more than Man versus another Man, and Man versus Himself.

This is a good movie to whet one's appetite for Piulvinsky films.

He'll be a big time director in no time...

Comedic Romance..fun movie
11 December 2005
I've seen another of Mr Pilvinsky's movies. It was titled, "Hall of Mirrors" and may have well been his first. His father was kind enough to show it to me (proud Dad that he is). Both these movies show the development in Marc's film making abilities.

Indefintely was a fun movie to watch. I instantly liked Reilly, and hated the jerk off fiancée (playing true to the stereotype of insensitive guys who don't realize what they have in front of them). As the future Mother in law claims, "Everybody loves Cherry", and this includes me. Chery brings light to the movie. Reilly's friend and racket ball competitor was "painted" and portrayed perfectly as a young lady with unresolved "issues".

One hopes that thing will work out as we would wish them to, diverging from the path on which it began. Love has a way of making that happen.

If you get the chance, see this movie. You'll be able to say you saw one of Pilvinsky's works before he became the film maker he is sure to become. You'll also enjoy a short entertaining film about love.

This movie complements others like it, such as "Serendipity" and "Sleepless in Seattle".

MP/Dad..thanks for showing these. CJ
