Scientism Exposed (2016)
Well-crafted and provocative
A documentary that questions the essence of our Earths reality.
With a Christian world-view the director Robbie sets out to challenge the "scientism" of our modern world, which after you've watched the documentary, is explained to have started a long time ago. When saying "scientism" he's referring to the theoretical science which have no actual proofs(except in mathematical equations) but are purely speculative. And the speculative with a lot of propaganda has taken over the observable and rational science which we can test, see, hear and smell. The Christian backdrop is very prevalent, but you should let the ideas and proofs speak for them self. Scary for most, but i dare you.
A good film with a lot of "upsetting" views to the mainstream world of today. Very well done with this small budget.
Cheers and peace!
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
No thank you
The brothers Wachowski have released their new project on the world. Like a big cascade of borrowed themes, from Oedipus to fallen angels, they hammers us with this confused movie.
Big budget a lot of explosions and planets swooshing by.
A messy storyboard can never make a good movie tough, no matter how many stars and explosions you have(and borrowed Greek or biblical themes, even tough they have corrupted them), and it gets really messy. The love story is not there even if they try to force it. In the end it feels just...well nothing really, flat.
Mila kunis delivers a decent role. Otherwise, nothing to hang in the Christmas-tree as we say here in Sweden.
No thank you.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Good Marvel
Wathced this blockbuster yesterday and i got what i expected.
A lot of jokes, all the time, and a action-filled adventure. Coupled with the "earthly" soundtrack it was a pleasant ride.
Some issues with the story and it's obsessive need to joke everywhere, even when there was slaughter going on. I guess it's the new normal... not my cup of tea tough. The humor was fitting in some places but over the top in others and excessive in some. The stereotypes was another minus. This kind of easy humor is not my kind of humor but i like it in small quantities.
Otherwise an incredibly well-crafted movie on the effect side, and concerning the pacing it flowed pleasantly.
7/10 cheers
Slacker (1990)
Interesting characters
So. We're following a bunch of people that's slacking around in different ways. Everyone seems very confused and totally absorbed in their own worlds... everyone thinking that working is a bad thing... not realising that they couldn't slack if there was not someone who worked in the wheels of society...because then their would be no society for them to slack in. Simple logic.
The good thing is the conversations you get out from every meeting(or monoloug). They have a good flow and some great acting, even if you don't agree about everything they're saying. The film don't try to tell you what is right or wrong, you simply get to listen to people talking about different subject. So in a sense there's no real plot except random people talking and slacking. Still you get a sense of the movie moving forward trough a good camera-work and editing.
The movie is a shining example of people that have lost their power and are totally in the hands of their whims and feelings. It also gives a picture about the desperate, and resigned, look on life that flowed in the 90's...
But there's also the questioning of everything(from some people), which is a good thing. Never take anything for granted that you haven't critically researched and taught about, grinded in your head so to speak. And that's the little bit of light that shines out from these slackers... some of them questioning everything, and some of them becoming outsiders because of it. Tough at one point you gotta make up your mind, and decide what your own truths are. Or it will be like in "Shawshank redemption", you either get busy living or get busy dying(inside).

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
Mindless
This is one of the worst Michael Bay movies yet.
It never stops, it taught i was going insane... just mindless action with almost no breathers.
Escapism at its worst.
Tough if you like a confused plot, bad performances, disgusting monologue, horrible mindless action, horrible comedy, really bad timing, terrible editing and getting your energy sucked out slowly and brutally during what feels like eons... Then by all means, go waste your money.
This is not a tribute to Transformers. It's a hymn to the mindless, and shallow escapism which has boomed in Hollywood the last 20 years with the coming of the digital era(Even tough there are good digital movies). Not even worth the illegal act of downloading. Glad i got this paid by a friend who insisted i joined. Last time.

Green Zone (2010)
A lot of action and drama for a simple truth.
Good action and a thrilling ride in it's places.
But in the end a lot of motion picture, and not enough quality content, to get a simple truth to the audience. Which anyone whit a pea-size brain should have figured out LONG before this movie. And that is: The Iraq invasion was founded on a big LIE. WMD, what a sham... but if you tell a lie enough times(propaganda-repetition trough mainstream media) everyone tends to believe it... just because it's repeated, over and over and over. Easy right?
Matt Damon does a solid performance. But i don't like the shaky camera works, just like in the Bourne series...to distracting.
6 out of 10.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
A usual Hollywood film of today
Like many other creations coming out of Hollywood today, with over the top special effects and cheesy love stories, so is the movie "the desolation of Smaug" a poor attempt to make a good film, trying to dazzle the audience with cheesy triangle-dramas, ridiculous special effects and silly additions to the original story. A book that's fantastic by the way.
The first one was disappointing and the second one was horrible. And i do compare the books of Tolkien in real life so i will compare this movie to LOTR. And i really like the LOTR adaptations from the books, but Bilbo don't even come close to Peters first adventure. He has walked trough the door to plastic Hollywood world on these Bilbo movies, when he only had his foot in the last time he created the LOTR movies.
The new(and old) characters are poorly written in, and takes away light from the dwarfs and Bilbos journey. So you kinda loose interest in what is happening to Bilbo because they're cutting fourth and back between these many add-ons to the story and Bilbo.

World War Z (2013)
Bad movie
Didn't like it one bit(e). Hastely put together and no real character-development. Brad Pitts journey is messy and i didn't get any connection with his character, it seemed shallow. The action(there is action but nothing well-crafted like T2 or gladiator for example) and suspense are also lacking. He mostly sits in a airplane or talking to his wife on satellite phone. The movie show propaganda on a big scale concerning Israels real role in their area, and also a big injection of "vaccin-friendly" propaganda.
1/10 Sucked.

Side Effects (2013)
Good story but not hitting the spot.
I starts of with following a depressed woman seeking help and getting prescriptions for a new drug. With the drugs comes wacky side effects, which becomes worse and worse, and end in worst case scenario. The story tries to point out the dangers with modern drugs and it's "side effects" which really are it's effects, but fails at the end, because the real issue is never brought to the surface. The corporations(the pharmaceutical industry is the second largest behind the energy industry) which are making billions of dollars every year on numbing down society, without legal responsibilities. And the pills which are right now being showed down our kids throats like they were candy, and no one seems to be noticing the link between the pharmaceutical drugs and the changed, radical and aggressive behavior? Why not shine more light on these issues instead of only focusing on fraud, murder and conspiracy between two people? And in the end it was just about money. And why not shine some light on the link between the shootings all over the world, were every kid involved pulling the trigger, was on treatment on some kind of drug, like antidepressants, stimulants, mood stabilizers etc.
Anyways, the movie turns into a conspiracy which is about making money...and it has it's twists. Actors are doing a good job and it's a little thrilling at it's moment at best. He actually punish her in the end by forcing her to take pharmaceutical drugs just to get revenge. That says a lot about how good drugs really are, you can use them to punish people! I guess this is the directors attempt to point at the dangers of the psychotropics, but he doesn't go as far as he should, missing the spot.

The Thin Red Line (1998)
"Greatest" war movie
This is one for the ages. Cast, photo, direction, plot, soundtrack, screenplay etc. It all fits perfectly. It's a long poem about the horrors of war. And the battle off the human consciousness vs society, waring between what it thinks is right compared to what the outside world wants it to think and do, fear or love... war or peace. The personal journeys in this movie is amazing and coupled with the poetry it lifts the film to the skies.
The actors all give something to the experience. Especially Jim Caviezel and Nick Nolte. But there are many great performances, like from John Cusack and Sean Penn. Other seasoned actors makes great additions to the plot.
One of my favorite movies of all times.
10/10 Cheers
