Grossly underrated entry in the vacation franchise, as Rusty Griswold emulates his Dad's dream of a road trip to Walley World. Of course the usual mayhem ensues, but this 2015 version moves along at a cracking pace, without the oft-forgotten flat spots of the original and European.
Helms is terrific as Rusty, and Hemsworth brilliant as Audrey's Republican cow wrangler husband. The teen boys more than hold their own against the talented older crew, but this is Applegate's film, as she steals nearly every scene, particularly the chug run.
The laughs come thick and fast, with a bizarre cameo from Chase and DeAngelo, some familiar vacation beats along the way, and one of the funniest white water rafting scenes ever. 8/10.
