I was actually surprised by how much i enjoyed this movie considering all the negative reviews. It starts out slow but once the stage is set, the director takes it to this beautiful place. In a movie starring Christoph Waltz and Udo Kier, two very talented and experienced actors, It's Hong Chau who shines brightest.

Barely escapes the 'curse of the sequel'

The man from earth (2007) was a brilliant movie. The plot was original and the cast executed it brilliantly. At the end of the movie all i could ask myself was, "what if..."
So obviously i was excited to learn that a sequel was out. I loved where they took the story and the "save the planet" undertones. It's good to know that our destruction of the planet is also killing an immortal. Anyway, unlike the prequel which was a masterpiece, where the whole movie was shot in a cabin and the cast was brilliant, this movie is far from being genius. My biggest problem was with the cast, particularly the supporting cast. Some of the acting was mediocre and the character development was non existent. The final 30 mins however make up for everything wrong with this movie mostly because we only have 2 characters on set thinking out load, no side shows. This scene took me back to the prequel. This movie might not have been a genius sequel, I'd say it was Okay at best. When i finished it, i still asked myself "what if...".
