Primal: Vidarr (2022)
Season 2 going strong
Season 2 has had some amazing 10/10 episodes (most notably episode 2 & 4). This is not a 10, but still overall a strong episode.
It's interesting at this point how you are likely no longer actually rooting for spear & fang. Like a fellow reviewer said; we are now just witnessing the never ending cycle of violence. There are no "good guys" anymore, which makes for an interesting watch. Hopefully Genndy is aware of this shift in the relation between spear & fang and the audience.
What lower the score somewhat for me is how I am now more strongly starting to sense the plot-armor effect. These characters are going from brutal battle to brutal battle without many consequences. Either Genndy has to start killing his darlings, or the feeling of high stakes during battle will quickly wear off.
Primal: The Red Mist (2022)
Brutal episode...
This episode was at times hard to watch. Absolutely brutal... Ouff.
I enjoyed Season 1. But season 2 so far is such a massive improvement - it's almost so that I'd recommend a first time watcher to view only the first & last episodes of season 1 (all the necessary backstory) - then go into season 2.
Primal: Shadow of Fate (2022)
Beautiful, emotional and poetic
This show is gorgeous, the cinematography and artwork is constantly breathtaking.
The show is without dialogue (for the most part) - and masterfully navigates around this - there is something lovely about being totally free from exposition. Every single frame of this show is beautiful and does a masterful job of conveys emotions and moving the story forwards. This is a masterclass in effective storytelling.
This episode in particular tells a story about two dinosaurs. With no lines of dialogue, and in less than 20 minutes, the show manages to tell one of the most gripping and beautiful little stories I have seen all year.
Rick and Morty: Mortyplicity (2021)
Weak episode
A very weak episode, especially considering last weaks superp season-premiere.
