Reservoir Dogs (1992)
First date
Took a girl to see this at the Glasgow Odean cinema (R. I. P) back in 93ish thinking that it might be a fun movie. Obviously this was before IMDB, and the opening scene changed the whole dynamic of my hopes that night. Never saw the girl again after that . Thanks Tarantino ! :) Anyway. Back to the review. The more I watch it now the more I appreciate it . Pulp Fiction had a bigger impact on me at the time back then. Think I saw that 3 times at the cinema which is a record for me. But I've just watched Reservoir Dogs again today , and as I said before. It's growing on me more and more. I don't think it'll ever surpass Pulp Fiction, but you never know.
Bad Samaritan (2018)
What happened to David Tennant's hair?
The movie was ok. Maybe a 6 , but the best part for me was trying to figure out what happened to David Tennant's hair. All the way through the movie he has it parted , then , as soon as he gets to the cabin he has some kind perm thing going on. His hair obviously doesn't like the snow 😅
El laberinto del fauno (2006)
Just revisiting this movie
Hadn't watched this movie in about 15 years , and to be honest I'd forgotten just how good it was . I kept trying to find flaws in it , but couldn't . The story . The acting . The effects . All top notch . I'd love to give it a 9 , but couldn't . So a 10/10 it is .
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Shoot me now
I'm about 80 minutes into this and I'm close to buying a Terminator on Amazon and asking it to put me out of my misery. Please, please , please don't make any more of these sequels , or presequels , or whatever they're called. Doesn't matter how many explosions you have , you'll never best the original.
2 Days in the Valley (1996)
Gets better every time I watch it
Must have seen it 20 times , but I never get tired of watching it. Great cast , script and the soundtrack is fantastic. Otis Redding's Down in the Valley alone is worth an 9/10.
Speed (1994)
Freeway fun
Just watching this now after about 20 years. Looks like they've killed about a 100+ people on the freeway so far whilst trying to save about a dozen on the bus :) Anyway. It's still fun to watch after almost 30 years.
Carry on Screaming! (1966)
What a great movie
I'm not a particular fan of the carry on movies , but this movie is just great. I never get tired of watching it. Harry H Corbett does a great job as the lead detective , and Fenella Fielding is just "smokin" :)
Joker (2019)
Somber music does not a good movie make
I didn't get it. Just seemed like a copy , and a bad one at that , of Taxi Driver to me. The chelo score for me just made it worse. Pity Heath Ledger wasn't around , as he would have put in a much better performance.
No Time to Die (2021)
What ever happened to this franchise ?
When I was a kid James Bond films were "fun". You knew what you were getting for your £2. There was a formula and it worked. It wasn't rocket science. It was a few basic ingredients that made it work. Now it's just turned into garbage. Too dark. Plots that make little to no sense . And countless other issues that I won't have time for in this rant. Me personally , think I'm going to switch to Mission Impossible. At least that's still doing what it set out to do. To give the viewer an enjoyable 120 minutes of escapism.
Aquaman (2018)
Great effects and costumes
I remember nothing about the plot of this movie. However , they must have spent about 2 trillion $s on the special effects and costumes . So for that I'm giving it a 7.
Army of the Dead (2021)
I'm trying. I really am.
I'm 63 minutes in , but I'm not sure if I'm going to make it through the remaining 84 minutes. I mean that's 147 minutes in total of this drivel . Hopefully some of the main characters will start to get eaten soon , as that's the only thing that's keeping me going .....
Superstore (2015)
Great show !
There's not many comedies these days that make me laugh out loud . But this one does. Especially the scenes with Marcus or the pharmacist. I was almost in tears a few times. It seemed to be slowing down a bit in S05 , so I've just went back to the beginning and started again. Actually , in doing that you pick up on jokes and gags that you may have missed first time around. All in all I've given it a 9.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
What a let down
After Hill House I was really looking forward to this series. I was so let down. Terrible story. Terrible cast and characters. And don't expect any "hands over your eyes" moments like with Hill House. If I could have given it a 0 I would have , but the app wouldn't let me.
The Confession Killer (2019)
Another great Netflix documentary
I have to admit that Netflix really make some good documentaries . This is another one to add to the list . While I was watching it I was thinking ..."Why did I/we never hear about this before ?" . I suppose the answer is quite simple . The Internet .
Anyway . It was really enjoyable , and raises all sorts of questions about the US judiciary system . On a more serious note . It did leave me feeling a bit sorry for any current family members , or friends of the victims who will now be left wondering if Henry Lucas actually committed their crime ....
Bird Box (2018)
Blindfold
So you can use a blindfold which allows some light through . Maybe they could have all just used a decent pair of Ray Bans instead ?
Murder by Death (1976)
Deserves an 11
One of my favourite movies of all time. So many great lines from great actors . Especially love Peter Falk in this.
Dirty Money (2018)
Very informative
Halfway through watching the series , and it's been very interesting so far . Hope they make a second series .
The Yards (2000)
Liked it so much I bought the DVD
Well the 6.4/10 vote for this movie really surprises me . I thought it was excellent . In fact I liked it so much I bought the DVD . Normally if I see anything with Mark Wahlberg I instantly pass but after seeing this movie it made me change my opinion of the guy . Nice dark thriller with a good story and great acting . 9 out of 10 .
