We Own This City (2022)
Wow what a show !
A cross between Training day and the wire. This show is made even better by the fact it is linked to true life events. Thoroughly enjoyable hope they somehow find a way to make more !
Was enjoying it so much wanted to watch it more but didn't want it to end !
Boiling Point (2021)
Mesmerising.
The performances and writing for this feature film are absolutely superb. A brilliant concept for a film. Having previously working in restaurants over a decade ago I could identify with a number of the characters. Graham is brilliant as always and the many different sub stories work wonderfully. Great job.
The Tower (2021)
Ended with a whimper
This started off with some promise. As in most reviews the box ticking for this drama is almost so bad it is laughable. I don't think there was a box that wasn't ticked.
The final interview scene was so oppressive it wouldn't have been admissible anyway. Repeatedly shouting at her and not actually asking many questions.
Shame as I enjoyed the first 2 episodes, no actual answers were gained, probably purposely to 'allow the viewer to make their own assumptions'. Just tell us what happens.
One last thing, didn't ever explain why on earth the girl kidnapped a young boy or why the Asian male was doing what he doing to create the whole story line.
One Man and His Shoes (2020)
Great insight in to the development of the air jordans
I have an interest in trainers and football boots. I really enjoyed the documentary it was well shot and informative. I don't quite understand why the end of the documentary decided to focus on how people have been getting killed for the their air jordans. The documentary ended on such a sour note, almost as if it was Nike and Jordan's fault that this was happening. I agree it could have been touched Upon within the documentary but it was way over the top to end like that. Still worth a watch.
The Inbetweeners 2 (2014)
Funny and easy watch
Firstly, I loved the inbetweeners series and was genuinely worried the films would ruin it. The first fiilm was funny, but then the second film rang the alarm bells. There's is 4/5 genuine laugh out loud moments in this film, and not many films have that any more. The plot is not the best, but it was never going to be. A brilliant send off.
Good Time (2017)
Shockingly bad
I read the reviews and gave this a whirl. Absolutely dreadful film. I've seen somebody also compliment the music score. At one point I muted the film it was that bad. I've gave it a 3 at pattisons performance is acceptable. I can't understand why it is rated so high.
Liar: Episode #2.6 (2020)
Terrible second series
Wow, this has to be one of the most absurd second series of any drama ever. Not only was it years later than the original, the plot has more holes than a sieve. The legal side of the whole thing is completely flawed, and the characters are not just unbelievable they are unlikeable. Should have just left it at one series. Calibre (2018)
Gritty Brit film
This film is well worth a watch. As a fan of British moderately budgeted films, this was right up my street. The acting was believable and I really felt I could connect to a number of characters. Very impressed considering budget and lack of big name characters.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Wow.
Quite simply amazing.
This film makes you question yourself, authority, friendship and injustice all at once. The quality of the acting is brilliant, and what a storyline. Although set in the past it is a storyline that could run for centuries. I have watched this film probably 10-15 times and each time enjoy it as much as the last. An easy watch, and although far fetched is still believable somewhat.
Absolute entertainment from start to finish, and on a relatively low budget. It just shows that a simple idea for a screenplay can be adapted into a classic. Many films fail when they make twists too complicated, or use too many special effects. This film allows the viewer to make their own decisions but also gently pushes you into making a connection with each and every character
My favourite film by a country mile.
