Sports store clerk Peter Mason (Dick Powell) has an idea to increase sales. His supervisor Franklin Dexter is dismissive. Their boss does have horse rider Peter Randall as a paid spokesman, but he is in Australia. Why not have Mason impersonate Randall? What could go wrong?
Well, this is a dumb idea. Even in this olden times, I would think that somebody from this horse racing world would recognize Randall if he is as famous as they claim him to be. The movie could work if these characters are dumb and dumber. As it stands, I couldn't stop thinking that these characters should know better. That stops any hope for the comedy to work. This does create "Jeepers Creepers" with Louis Armstrong singing to a horse. It's a great song. I'm not giving the movie extra marks for it.

Beau Ginner (John Travolta) is a foreman of repairmen at an electrical line company. He lives with his adult niece Bailey Ginner (Kate Bosworth). They welcome their new neighbors, Carline (Julie Benz) and her husband Eugene (Ryan Robbins) who is starting at the company. Bailey's ex Duncan (Devon Sawa) also works there.
Before starting, I thought this is a heist movie. Then it hits me with a lot of family and romantic melodrama. Then I assume this to be Twister, but then it's like seven days before Twister. I don't really care about these characters and their stories. I just want my Twister. This movie is trying to promote lineman heroism. Unfortunately, the movie is more about the various personal melodramas rather than the challenges of the job. The simple fix would be to cut out most of the melodramas and do a crazy day at the job.

Various people are going to XOXO, an EDM music festival in the desert. I want to do drugs. I think it would help. As for the stories, I can take most of them. I would like Ethan to be less dumb or Avilo to be less obvious. More than anything, I want him to say something to the Asian chick. I get that he's not brave enough to challenge Chopper, but he should comfort the girl to show his moral compass. Sure, the movie is trying to give him a character arc, but I need to like him more than this. I am not saying that I hate any of this movie, but some of it is more annoying than being actually funny.
