The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Much better than expected
I wasn't too sure about it but I've found it a great watch as we are shown the story arcs. Whether the main characters will meet up is beyond me however the production quality is top notch. I think they have used a less is more approach such as the one Orc and glimpses of other nasties throughout the 1st 2 episodes.
Lots of questions to be answered and I even watched it twice to see if I missed anything so it certainly got me excited and wondering what will happen next.
The Elves don't seem very bright to me as the Dwarves are a lot sharper. My main question is are the Harfoots the ancestors of the hobbits?
I think this will be a great series if the writers do their jobs.
Ghost Wars (2017)
A Great Show Which Punches Well Above its Weight
I didn't expect much from this show but boy did it deliver a great series. Ghosts, aliens of sorts, God and add in some belligerent townspeople and you have an excellent show.
I thoroughly enjoyed it however I doubt if they can make a second series which a shame.
Rogue Agent (2022)
This could have been so much better
I already have watched the documentary which was a real eye opener. Admittedly the film covers how Robert Freegard was tracked down one of his victims. The acting by Gemma was a bit wooden and I know she's better than this performance. The film lacked atmosphere so I am assuming it didn't have a big budget.
The ending was completely different from the real life ending which took place in an airport.
Overall it could have been a lot better with a bigger budget.
Kastanjemanden (2021)
Quite a gruesome series with a few silly moments
Decent characters and good acting with plenty of red herrings throughout. Plenty of 'don't go down there' moments which made me laugh at.
Unfortunately scandi crime has a real fixation with sexual abuse against children as it seems to be in almost every series I've watched and I've seen plenty.
I know it's all part of the drama but it seems to used far too often and I wonder for the effect on real victims who may watch it.
Overall a good show and I hope there is a 2nd season.
The Newsreader (2021)
Interesting show
Some top class acting but it reminds me of Drop The Dead Donkey without the laughs........even though it's a
based around real global events.
Is it me or was it filmed during Covid as no bugger actually touches anyone. When Helen met Dales mum not even a handshake but they were at least 6 foot apart.
Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi (2022)
This should have been a 6-8 episode crime drama
This was crying out to be a crime drama as it had so much going for it. Incompetent police, devious and taunting murderer and a mystified press.
The reasons why he killed and how he started out are quite fascinating.
Brazen (2022)
I can't get the time back
I can't believe Netflix are producing this Hallmark type film which is pretty bad. Actually it could have been a lot more edgy. The highlight was watching Grace in her dominatrix outfit at the end. I do hope they don't make a follow up.
The Good Liar (2019)
It's such a good movie
Yes he's a scam artist and a pretty despicable one at that. I no was waiting for Lilli to turn the tables on him but it was the reasons why which were even more hideous. A great movie with sone excellent acting all round. However I do admit to finding Helen Mirren somewhat ravishing throughout the movie as she's gorgeous.
The Blacklist (2013)
I think it's the end of the road
This is a show which is now running on empty and it's sad to see but good things do not last forever. Dembe joining the FBI was almost but not quite a jumping the shark moment.
The characters from the black list get a little more ridiculous each week as we seem to be picking up the lower order criminals.
I think it's on its last legs and if they can finish it off with season 9 or 10 then that wound be great.
Ad Astra (2019)
Utter bilge
Unfortunately I can't get back the time I spent watching this snoozefest as it was rubbish. It lacked a coherent script and was so boring I only wanted to know why was it made.
You (2018)
Season 3 is just ridiculous
I thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1&2 but 3 well that's a bit of a train wreck as far as I'm concerned. The getting married was a very bad idea. I just found it boring.

Billions (2016)
It's time they jailed Axe
In season 5 Axe really is an out of control monster and the sooner he's behind bars the better. I seem to dislike him more in every episode of season 5 as I'm rooting for Chuck and co to nail him.
Wrong Turn (2021)
This was a movie with 2 halves and a great ending.
The beginning of this movie was just poor horror fodder however the 2nd part I found to be pretty good. The ending was totally unexpected and well
done. I'm hoping there will be a follow up movie.
The Wedding Year (2019)
It was a well scripted movie
I just admit I didn't think this would be that great but it really did make laugh out loud as there were some really funny moments.
Tyler Williams reminds me of Joe Morton and the rapport with Sarah Hyland was pretty good.
It's a lovely feel good feel movie and one I'll recommend.
Debris (2021)
This was a very good sci-fi show but why cancel it.
I was immediately hooked on this show from the opening scenes as it had the right amount of weird for me. The acting was very good and the sub plots believable as well. Why oh why was this cancelled in fact why did they go to NBC with it in the first place as Amazon or Netflix would be ideal for this show.
A great show ruined by a lack of vision by the suits at NBC.
Black Summer (2019)
Enjoyed season 1 but in season 2 they all deserved to die.
Season 2 and we don't know what transpired from the end of season 1 however mother and daughter have turned into psychopaths with guns ablazing.
The roaming bands of lunatics with guns are just a bit too much as they all seem to lack any common sense.
The case in point entering the room does one leave their axe at the door?
The dropped supplies surely you'd use the webbing to carry the boxes of supplies but not the damn crate. That was totally illogical.
Crazy mother was going to shoot Boone as he got lost and couldn't find the ski resort. It defies any kind of logic except these people were now savages.
I found it all a bit too much and I do hope there's no season 3.
Domino (2019)
Possibly the worst film I've watched in 18 months
This is an absolute stinker of a film yes it was a terrorist by numbers movie but the script was awful and so was the acting. As for the music it was awful and so jarring that it got in the way of the film.
Never has so much talent been wasted in a movie. As for Brian De Palma it's retirement for you.
First Kill (2017)
Oh Bruce What happed
With each film Mr Willis movies seem to get worse as I can't remember giving anything over a 3. Bruce you need to retire as yours films are so tired.
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
Crazy Mad but I loved it
I could not tell fact from fiction in this crazy film but I did like seeing Kristin Davis in a few sexy scenes. It was still a mad film with a nod to Dressed to Kill.
Paradise PD (2018)
Season 3 has completely jumped the shark
I loved Seasons 1&2 but season 3 well it's just devoid of anything really funny........
It's terrible someone needs to lock up the scriptwriters what there aren't any oh that explains it.
The One (2021)
It exceeded my expectations
I was very pleasantly surprised by this great show which apparently is based on a book. The main protagonist is how can I say a driven individual. Yes the characters are not all well rounded but they didn't need to be as we learnt about them during the show.
The idea of being 'the one' was kind of crazy and nobody would buy it in real life or would they?
I do hope there a season 2 as the two female adversaries do create a nice bit of onscreen antagonism.
Your Honor (2020)
Nobody Seems to Ask Any Questions
I know the premise of the show but the detective work was all but missing. Nobody saw the car on the driveway the day of the accident despite neighbours liking over when the judge was cleaning the car. Kofi Jones stood out like sore thumb in that part of the city as made obvious by the neighbours stares.
Kofi Jones didn't even shout too much and say I only stole the car the next day. I guess that's too obvious.
So many holes, so many holes.
Shoot the Messenger (2006)
I found it funny, true and sad
I didn't expect it to be like this but the talking to camera was what made it stand out for me. There was nothing in the film that wasn't true but it had no solutions that for black people to come up with. There were some excellent touches which those from a white perspective will miss such as black church white Jesus.
The journey for the lead was a long one but his heart was in the right place unfortunately his head wasn't.
The breakup with the girlfriend was quite painful to watch and very well acted.
A very good film which didn't pull its punches which for some may have been too much.
Interesting note both the leads in this film have now moved to the USA. Regarding the reasons why now that's another film in itself.
River Runs Red (2018)
It's get a 10 due to justice being served.
It did have bad acting but the underlying message or was it a warning that if people don't see justice they will administer it themselves.
