The Northman (2022)
Never look me in the eye, slave!
Pure and simply this is a viking epic like no other. I don't know what kind of film the negative reviewers were expecting, maybe a reboot of Eric the viking? This was dark, brutal and everything I ever hoped for! I will avenge you father, I will save you mother, I will kill you Fjolnir!
Interceptor (2022)
Awesome, classic (90s) action flick!
WTF is with all this low balling?! You're watching a straight to video (netflix) action film with a meh budget. Sure, it's not going to win best picture, but it doesn't plan to. It plans to entertain with a popcorn action flick and I was entertained. While the dialogue can be cringey (not unusual for any action flick) the film is good, particularly for a writer-directorial debut. Given the exposure (streams) the film is getting, I'm looking forward to netflix funding the sequel! Interceptors launched!
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Epic Nerdgasm!
I find it hilarious that most of the bad reviews are from people who can barely string a sentence together! Yes it's long, yes it's a comic book movie, you should have known this going in, so why TF are you complaining? Anyhoo, this film is for the fans and I am one! I loved it!
Legends of Tomorrow: Meet the Legends (2020)
What were they thinking? *sigh*
LoT is my fav show of the Arrowverse and i'm constantly worried about it being cancelled, due to it's small fanbase. After being kicked off the previous crossover I was worried for LoT, but then being added to this years crossover and hosting the finale episode no less, I was excited about their attempt to reinvigorate the Legends!
Then to follow up Crisis with this garbage, mockumentry style, filler episode really put the nails in the coffin for any Arrowverse fans that were willing to jump back on the Legends bandwagon. Let's face it! If this is the kind of thing the showrunners think is a good idea, RIP Legends, you were fun while it lasted.
Robin Hood (2018)
Hilariously bad! No really..
My wife and I couldn't stop laughing at how stupid it was! I think Millennials will love it though, it's basically the Kevin Costner Robin Hood for the new generation.
The Sublet (2015)
There will be blood!
The film follows a young mother as she stays at home, caring for her infant child. She finds herself unraveling a disturbing mystery, which surrounds her new apartment and begins to test her sanity. I try not to compare films, but this film really has notes of Rosemary's Baby and reminded me a little bit of The Shining. I think it was the claustrophobic feel of the film and the constant wondering what's real and what's in her mind. It probably also helped that the film's decor was very dated, kind of 70s. It's because of this constant wondering and putting the pieces together that reflects good story telling, the mystery unraveled nicely and wasn't spoon fed to the audience. The film is atmospheric with lots of drama (some people might call this 'slow'), but it builds the tension nicely until it breaks you. This was certainly helped by Tianna Nori! I was gripped by her the entire film, it was a very engrossing performance. If you like your psychological horror, I would definitely check this one out!
