I miss some of my friends you know?
those who used to ANSWER my posts î‚„
Aragorn; she said, why will you go on this deadly road? Because I must, he said. Only so can I see any hope of doing my part in the war against Sauron. I do not chose paths of peril, Eowyn. Were I to go where my heart dwells, far in the North I would now be wandering in the fair valley of Rivendell.
-LOTR the two towers How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart... you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep... that have taken hold. Even the smallest person can change the course of the future. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frodo: I can't do this Sam. Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. Frodo: What are we holding on to Sam? Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.
Sam: I wonder if we'll ever be put into songs or tales. Frodo: What? Sam: I wonder if people will ever say, 'let's hear about Frodo and the Ring.' And they'll say 'yes, that's one of my favorite stories. Frodo was really courageous, wasn't he, Dad?' 'Yes, my boy, the most famousest of hobbits. And that's saying a lot.' Frodo: You've left out one of the chief characters - Samwise the Brave. I want to hear more about Sam.
Frodo: Frodo wouldn't have got far without Sam. Sam: Now Mr. Frodo, you shouldn't make fun; I was being serious.
Frodo: So was I. Sam: Samwise the Brave...
Eowyn: I fear neither death nor pain. Aragorn: What do you fear, my lady? Eowyn: A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them and all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire.
Who knows what you have spoken to the darkness, alone, in the bitter watches of the night, when all your life seems to shrink, the walls of your bower closing in about you, a hutch to trammel some wild thing in? So fair, yet so cold like a morning of pale Spring still clinging to Winter's chill.
there may come a time for valor without renown

I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
The Hobbit: an unexpected greatness
I Wasn't really exited about this movies since the second I heard they were making three of them, from ONE amazing book, then hearing it'll include other stories was too much for any purist J.R.R. Tolkien fan... how can something like that be any good? it'll be a mess and obviously nothing I'd get to enjoy at all.
Who'd knew I was wrong... The whole movie has the same magic brought in the original three Lord of the rings movies, the characters, old and new are just perfectly casted. seeing familiar faces, having almost exact quotes in the early scenes, hearing The Shire theme song again, it held and twisted my heart once more. it sounds emotional and subjective, but this movies, and the books for those who read them when young are emotional and subjective, so the second I heard the story of Erebor, Smaug, the Arkenstone and Thorin and Thrain and everything else it was just perfect, long time since I enjoyed a movie like I did with this one.
I'm pretty sure there's no actual spoilers on a story this old, is like giving spoilers on Snow white... but even if I tell you every detail you'll find a million things to enjoy when watching this piece of art.
Once more we have a great cast of perfect nobodies, once more we have characters that are so different and embody the different races in middle earth in a way that having me wondering if Peter Jackson and his team has someone to get advise from.
The story is fast, there's always something happening, adventure and danger in every scene, strength and courage, lessons to learn just like that first time when you read the book. Is never boring and is never too much you have the time to soak in every detail and is like one fast visit, it last forever and one can't have enough. Sometimes they use lines right out of the book and it carries the book to you again. I could hear my sister's voice reading the trolls dialog.
Thorin's story, Richard Armitage was only Guy of Gisborne to me, from a Robin Hood TV Series a couple years ago, I never even payed attention to him aside of the fact that he was the only good actor on that show, and seeing him as Thorin Oakenshield was enough to bring memories of other times. Some dwarfs are well known too, Kili, from being Human, he's great, you can see how talented this kid is, Bofur was Jekill and he's also lost in his character, some of the older guys are funny and strong and so believable. I've heard complains of the dwarfs looking too Disney, to me they're perfect! if they keep doing them all Gimli like we couldn't point one from the other, this way is easier and better. There are pieces that are not from the original story, but I'm okay with it.
Extra points for the Music, if Howard Shore doesn't get an Oscar this time there's no justice in this world, Song of the Misty mountain is powerful and great and adds emotion to scenes where not one word is spoken yet you see feelings and changes. The other song at Bilbo's house was even better. All in all is a great first adventure if you've lived under a rock this last decade and have never seen the Lord of The Rings trilogy and is a great new adventure if you've enjoyed the first three.
One of the best movies ever, There's so much I'd like to convey in this review but my mind is clouded with sentiments and this weird innocent awe that seems to fill me, I was held by the hand the second Bilbo start with his "My Dear Frodo.." and dragged back to middle Earth where the last bit of my childhood resides.
I honestly hope you get to enjoy this movie half as much as I do, then you'll understand this ramble.
Cansada de besar sapos (2005)
Everyone is tired of it
Every time I watch a romantic comedy I feel like a part of my brain has died. This one is so good it made me laugh, made me cry, made me want to find one of those guys that you would follow to a different continent.
I wasn't expecting Oscar worthy acting or script, so I only tried to enjoy what was there, it serves its purpose, it gives you this happy giddy feeling that some of this witty stories gives you, the hope of a real love and that romanticism is what every girl wants *BTW we don't*.
Martha is what every girl, who finally understand that having someone next to you is not a life plan but a serendipity, she's funny, sweet, and interesting, her acting helps not only to the story but adds to the comedy and drama, there's no chance this movie would be this good without her as the lead character.
Jose Maria Tavira is an actor I haven't seen often, actually never noticed him *not even in my dad's "telenovelas"* there's this Je ne se quoi that makes him sexy, there's a lot to laugh of and to think about.
The last scene is what bought me, until that scene when she finds him I was sure it was just another Rom-com, that was a waste of my scarce free time, but then... I was smiling and filled with this warm feeling I heard this movies are supposed to give you.
I recommend this movie *odd as it is because I tend to trash this gender* for those who need a little help to feel better and at ease with themselves after a break-up, and to those who already understood being single is not the end of the world.
Watchmen (2009)
One of the best movies from 2009
I'm a huge fan of this kind of movies, being an adult and being a woman.
by the time this movie was on theaters I was in living in extraordinary circumstances that made it impossible for me to watch it, but I liked it just fine in a different format.
For a start, the whole thing is amazing, I'm sure just like me, those who were fans of the comics didn't felt disappointed.
Every single detail were carefully added, the whole story was great, a friend who never read the comics *novel if you want* said that she didn't liked the Utopia stupid world-peace boring world they left, but it caused a very visceral response from her against it, just like the graphics did for me, it's exactly what I was expecting.
Costumes, background, were as good as expected for this adaptation, but what made me cry, twice *no shame admitting it* was the soundtrack, if you had the chance to listen to it, do it.
The fight among Eddie Blake and his murderer was awesome. The saw/jail scene was maybe the best one, and The Comedian is just awesome! at the end I was feeling like one of those teens that can't find another word and repeat AWESOME so many ways it lost any sense.
Everything about this movie was great, even with the boring girl who played Silk Specter II (who did a great job) and lame kid who played Nite Owl II(who actually did great).
Now, about the second Nite Owl, the problem is not the actor but a previous role he played, Hard Candy ruined the poor dude, just like Sleepers ruined Kevin Bacon forever more.
I haven't thought once that they ruined one of the best comics ever, as I screamed they have when I first heard a movie was on the making I was prejudiced against this for so long, and now
lets just remember that saying "keep your words soft and sweet in case you have to eat them" I give it a 9/10
Criminal Minds (2005)
Not always a happy ending
I discovered this show after a long while, at the end of season 4, there was something so compelling on the cases, that I HAD to watch from the first season, And not only Mandy Patinkin, there's something, maybe that the show is not about utterly complicated love lives among the characters, is not cheapened with gratuitous sex scenes or nudity, not even as much Gore as they could use, but there's something about this "heroes" that feels just right.
This show has characters written and developed in so many layers that you notice flaws and scars, and the interaction among them is so realistic that it could be the same interaction among the actors just reflected in the acting, translated in how comfortable the group looks with each other and how you see the grief in them when one of the group leaves.
The cases are weird, twisted and leave a bitter taste in your mouth at the end, there's no happy ending every time, they shows us victims, make us like them and then kill them, and the audience has to suffer the loss, not a bad thing, because they actually make you understand what kind of monsters normal/regular humans can be. Even this season (6th) being the weakest has moments of brilliancy, they exploit not only the always intriguing serial killers, but use the most common fears, those threats that we all live with.
I thought it'll be another CSI/NCIS/Without a trace show, but is different, the acting even if not recognized with at least award nominations is excellent, the writing is worthy of your time, and the quotes they use at the beginning and the end of every episode gives you a little extra that some shows are trying to copy. I like this show very much, and I enjoy it as much as I enjoy other shows Like X-Files.
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (2011)
Meek
I was very prejudiced against this sow, and after watching an episode I'm now sure I was right.
Characters that are not likable, that show a exaggerated intensity that the original show has not.
Whitaker is an inconsistent actor, and this role is one of the Low ones, he's the classic boss, way too bossy, A little bit a bully, that sounds like he suffers of a chronic obstructive Lung disease, every order he gives is out of breath.
Garofalo, who should be at least twice as good as she is, seems always angry and all other characters are washed out, just a bunch of shadows with lame lines.
At first I thought it will over shadow first one/the original but the characters are not well developed, the stories are not strong or interesting.
This is just a meek copy of a great Show, proof that Chemistry among actors/characters is a rare thing that can't be imitated even with Oscar Winners.
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
Messy, Crazy, and Perfect
this movie is overdone, crazy visuals, over-dramatic characters and insane scenarios, a perfect representation of a story so many times made and so poorly done before.
Burton did with this story what other couldn't, it give it some sense but not making it *as many said* moralist, is still the derailed imagination of a man over a girl's life, is still lots of fantasy and magic with a lesson hidden, I know... Alice in Wonderland is not supposed to teach us anything, but I think it should, it was the journey of Alice from the girl who fell asleep to the young lady invited to share tea with adults, this is still a movie about the passing into adult life. and this time is not a passing after a lost or suffering, but with the same view her father had, impossible dreams that will come true if you fight for them.
Characters so well done, you still find the fairy tale characters, bad ones still dark, still no faces, good ones always expressive and colors and light. if you're older than that, there's so many layers you'll enjoy it the same, Johnny Depp was great, his mad hatter, brave and insane, and charming, wish he could get some recognition for this one, I liked him more than as Captain Jack.
Mia, the girl is stunning, pretty and talented, her Alice is soft and delicate, yet she's a fighter, you can see she's not afraid at all, even if at first she hesitated, both as character as an actress you see a fresh face and lots of potential.
Helena Bonham-Carter and Anne Hathaway did what they do all the time, both lost in the character, both amazingly well done.
the effects and other creatures, even the furniture, were amazing, the first time you see this movie you feel you're inside that world, you want to follow the white rabbit and get lost in a world of insanity and fun.
This movie brought me back to my first time in movies, magic that makes not only feel good, it changes you, gives you hope and that feeling of naive excitement you only feel as a child.
I highly recommend it. is my favorite movie this year no matter what comes after.
Águila Roja (2009)
A new avenger, a new hope
Just catching up with this show and working my way across Spanish, still loving every second.
After Gonzalos' wife is killed he becomes a hero for his people. interesting, full of action and a good view of the amazing "Siglo De Oro" of Spain. there are few things that might now be accurate, still some of them will bother you while most of them you pay no attention to, there's something for everyone intrigue, deceit, great action scenes and a great story.
for many is going to be a new El Zorro but its so much better, i've seen kids excited about this show that can't speak five words in Spanish. you have to watch it to enjoy it, you have to enjoy it to understand it, you have to understand it to love it.
and I love it already
The Accidental Husband (2008)
Interesting, but not that much
I suffered a whole afternoon of estrogen movies, this one and The Ugly Truth in a row, and I rather have this one.
Uma is as stiff as you can imagine since her only acting happened on a Tarantino movie. we see the anal over stressed character so many times seen that's not funny anymore.
Collin firth wasted in just few scenes that doesn't use his ability for comedy and ridicule. he's supposed to be collected yet jealous, it never happens
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the only reason for me to watch this dreadful thing was surprisingly good, his character believable, even if feels like the story was lacking a big chunk in the middle. you can see the change on his feeling, its kinda obvious but as the rest of the characters worked with what he had, Still I wonder, why they dress him up for the party scene?
The premise interesting, some scenes like the one at the bakery shop and few with the Hindu family were funny, the end was cute.
started comparing this to the Ugly Truth, less crude tacky jokes, less laughs, but it kinda feels like more the real deal, something you can relate with, wish we could have had the original Grey's Anatomy couple and it'll made this so much better.
the cast as much as I say wasn't the greatest would've made a better job with a better script, this movie fulfill its goal, showing another love story as if we really need more of those shallow, soft cheesy love stories so popular this days.
Scarred (2007)
for those who've heard the "kids don't try this at home" too many times
I know its a lot of gore, lots of blood and lots of crude almost gross images but I've seen kids using helmets and pads after this, so I guess is not a total waste.
The host, Hilarious and the whole show like made for teens and young adults, its the kinda silly almost moronic humor but it serve its purpose to show what happens when you're not careful.
if you're not a father looking for a way to give your children a lesson you'll enjoy the show the same way I do, because every scar is better than the one before, sometimes you have to ask "what that idiot was thinking?!"
Haven (2004)
Everything in life is about mistakes
Who you trust, who you love, who you hurt, sometimes you just don't get it, but one act can change many lives.
This movie was for me part of my "must see" list, I'm not gonna lie I'm an Orlando Bloom fan, and I was pretty sure he's a handsome guy, but until this movie I started thinking that he'll be a great actor one day, His Shy, half innocence, half Romeo, so angry, so sad, was amazing, all the range of emotions that an actor would need and that tights, bow and arrows kinda hide, all I'm saying is give the kid few years and will see a real actor behind the heartthrob act.
Zoe's character made me wonder if good, cute girls are really happy, so broken and hopeless, her brother was the perfect tough guy from the suburbs, a bad guy wanting to play with big guys being just a spoiled brat. Anthony Mackie killed me I wanted to slap him every time he was on screen
there was another story on all this, more obvious if you're watching, corruption and deceive, Dillane and Paxton are as usual, not only believable but real.
I have to mention Lee Ingleby, his Patrick is my favorite, in one second he stole my heart when he leans over, So much love in just a gesture and so much fear.
The lesson at the end: people, even good people can be cruel. there's something for every one, a complete roller-coaster of emotions and a carnival of characters that I'm sure you'll enjoy. They drag you out of the couch and make you feel and live this.
warning here, sometimes things happen too fast on this movie and you'll get a better impression after two views, so don't think this is bad because is a little complicated.
Caffeine (2006)
Perfect with all its imperfections
People compared this to Waiting, I beg to disagree, its most like "La cena" than any other movie, has really funny bits, and shows us different realities, and different relationships, and give us a lesson on acceptance and love. The acting is not worth of an award but if you have no further expectations, this movie is funny, witty and has this weird -yet- sweet twist at the end. I saw it because of Callum Blue who happens to be perfect as the tortured unfaithful boyfriend, you almost believe his pain, but who takes the scene is Rozz Witt's grandmother, she's just too funny for words. I thought that a movie with Mena Suvari after America Beauty wouldn't be good at all but I really liked.
There are some pervy things that made me think, that someone's normal is not the standard and that's good, otherwise life would be just boring.
its perfect for those days with friends or for yourself when all you need is to laugh at something that could happen to you.
Bang Bang You're Dead (2002)
Frightening kids
I've been in school not long time ago, I was in school when Columbine and it kinda scares me how good this movie is, every person remembers the time when something really embarrassing changed the way others look at them, well... this movie shows all that in the most crude way, how a person that act different can be a way to show why NORMAL is not always the best option, this kid Ben Foster is an amazing Actor I knew it when I first noticed him in "Get over it" but this movie must be his best work so far. the way the trogs act, the hurting on those eyes, on those little kids, those lost souls screaming for help, so amazing, so real, so good. I'm sure most of the people have seen this movie but is not a bad option for a day with your childs, it has everything you'll need to make them watch it and get the message.
Amazing movie, there's no more words to express it.
El día que murió el silencio (1998)
The innocence of a town ruined for progress
This movie is not brilliant, but shows us the way the progress ruins lives (just like Tolkien said) A Man Sick with Love and anger, a girl who suffer him, and a Guy that loves her no matter what. A Small town full of weirdos and the town, the beautiful Town I've been one of the rare lucky persons who met the town before a earthquake destroyed it, while they were filming this, and the place is amazing, actors not well-known but at least not on this side of the world... Elias Serrano is Amazing being the irate man his character demands, he's so soft spoken that you'll never believe he could be the same. When Dario Grandinetti's character gets into 'Villa Serena' with his radio station the worst of every person in town comes out, every flaw nastier than the other, you can see yours reflected there.
A bit funny, a bit Bizarre, a bit romantic and completely magic in a Town over 400 years old this is a story about life, where nothing special happens but everything changes. If you're from a small country or you had lived in one you'll find this good. If you ever lived/visited a small colonial town you'll feel like you're there, the last remains of Totora.
Yossi & Jagger (2002)
The best secrets are those not hide
I still can't describe this story in few words, is one of those one in a life time experience, its very short but great, you have not a full, crude view of any relationship or the bonds among characters but everything is there. I think what you get at the end is: 'we should say what we have in mind every time we have the chance'. The characters were great Ohad Knoller (Yossi) is amazing, you see feeling like it was real in every move, and Yehuda Levi (Jagger)is even better. Some of the characters are not well defined the two girls for example but you fell for them anyway. Ofir and his love, Yaniv and his dream, really great!! at the end you'll understand why a picture can make you cry.
this is one of those movies that you'll enjoy in a night after a long day of boring life.
Green Street (2005)
The need to be part of something
This is a movie that you can relate with. if you ever felt mistreated or discriminated against this is your movie. there's a million of persons that think they don't belong, that they shouldn't be there or something, well this guys proves that maybe that's the best feeling ever.
Being part of a group of football hooligans must be no different from being a gang member but the point is not only the violence, its the feeling of fellowship, of friendship above all kind of things, the feeling of having someone looking over you.
Elijah Wood with all his innocent look was the perfect choice for Matt, you believe every simple thing, you can see the change on his eyes, in the end when he finds the Van Holden, you really want him to get his revenge, this Kid is made for bigger things. Charlie Hunnam's character its a contradiction itself, you don't know which side you'll choose, I've never laid eyes on him before but I'm sure we're gonna see him more often if he keeps this quality of acting.
I've noticed This guy in No Night is too long in another memorable part, so when I saw Marc Warren's character so perfectly portrayed I wasn't surprised, so soft, so calmed and smooth and in half second became so violent that even his brother is afraid of him, was great in every single scene, so was Claire Furlani, as the loving wife. Leo Gregory's Bovver was so pathetic, so sad, so guilty... so great.
There are parts of the plot that need to be discussed but its impossible without giving you huge spoilers that will ruin the experience of Green Street to you. In the end the main issue is not the violence it self but the violence and the impossibility of forgiveness and the impossibility to find out who blame for their own mistakes.
You can see that the whole thing would be solved if two adults could act like that and talk and put things clear. I'm kinda related to the games of pride and respect they play, there's nothing more cathartic than the feeling, the sound, of your fist in your rivals flesh, the feeling of power that a fight gives you. this movie made me remember my crazy teens and at the same time made me remember why I changed and that sometimes people need to move on. and points out that Violence is not an answer.
There's another lesson here, that you have to fight for your rights, no matter who you're fighting against You stand your ground and fight
this is one of the best movies I've seen during 2005.
Prozac Nation (2001)
Have you ever been depressed?
well if you're one of those rare creatures that would answer with a 'no' then watch this movie you'll understand how hard is get out of a bed when you are depressed, how hard is to find a reason to live and why you just can't explain the way you feel. Cristina Ricci is an amazing actress indeed. portrayed this problem in such an excellent way that gave you the right idea is not a romantic or dramatic, or pathetic point of view at all, just the way it is.
its a simple story with a simple explanation for a complicated issue, the reason why sometimes you can't just look forward a supposed good life, no matter how good you are, how brave you look, or how easy your life looks. there's also issues that actually affect our youngsters this days, and changes during the movies, the Part that Jonathan Rhys Meyers has here is small and looks like non important at all but it is, he's crucial for the whole story to be told, shows the difference between a depression patient and just a messed up kid. An amazing movie made from an Amazing book.
No Night Is Too Long (2002)
A love story well developed
the very first time I saw this movie I was shocked for the sex scenes and don't really believe I'd like it. the second time I saw it I was with a friend and we spent part of the movie discussing Ivo and Tim's relationship. its an amazing movie, excellent actors and great scenery,so well written that you actually felt for this guys. the feelings and all the emotional stress that the characters suffer from the beginning to the end its palpable, I personally believe that any person can relate this movie to their own love-lives. Tim (Lee Williams) was portrayed with such grace and amazing ability that I actually can't see the actor, every tear, every gesture was superb. the growing of the character during the story and the changes, I'll just say that if this guy decide to work more often he'll be one of the finest actors of this century. And Ivo(Marc Warren) at first I thought he was an abusive selfish brute, at the end I really liked him more than Tim. I've never read the book because I couldn't find it yet, I'm still looking for it. In my opinion is SO much better than Brokeback mountain.
Under the Tuscan Sun (2003)
A story of life and love
The very first time I saw this movie I was shocked, not only because Diane lane who's one of the finest actresses nowadays, there's too a smart script and the funniest sight of Italy, and his country side.
Maybe because I'm a huge fan of Italian Landscape I spend days watching it over and over because you'll not get tired of it. this movie shows different sides of love, we saw different stories from the bad ones like Frances', the young romantic ones, platonic ones, the eternal love of one man, and the best kind; Patti's love for her child. its about dreams and memories and family...
I recommend this movie to all the people with a broken heart and lack of faith in the future.
La cena (1998)
so much life in so small place
I was amazed after the very five minutes. this is not the kind of movie for people who don't care about others or those who are selfish and self-centered I'm sure that people would hate this piece of art, you'll see a whole world inside of few lives. the wise, the magic in every character, some jokes, problems, lies, some fantasy... its just hard to describe. I was eating popcorn and thinking when finally that waiter will take my order. if you have a child's-like imagination, or just you were in some hide small family "restorante" in Italia you'll maybe lived this movie. its perfect for those days when you feel like the world sucks
