Cloud Atlas (2012)
A Pretentious Cliché
Now... forgive my hateful language but I am still recovering from the ridiculous boredom and anger that I experienced last night. I should start by saying that I spent the night trying to think of something good about this movie. I failed.
This was the most pretentious, most cliché film I have seen in a long long time. This idea with telling different stories serving a single purpose which would "form the big picture" is so overused. And it might have worked with some other films but in this case it's just "oh c'mon, seriously?!". The cast is awful. Don't get me wrong I usually like Tom Hanks and I loved Ben Whishaw in The Perfume, but the acting in Cloud Atlas is literally scandalous. Now about the movie itself. It is crystal clear what they tried to achieve. It should have been some sort of a revelation which would explain life itself. In reality it is simple, shallow and ridiculous. It doesn't raise questions or make you think. It doesn't even try to show you the answers. It just tells you stuff with a dramatic slow preacher-like voice and wannabe interesting accents. Honestly this parody of a movie felt as if you caught a sub- sub-sub-cable 22h lame melodramatic TV show crew, you gave them a giant budget and a camera (and Halle Berry for publicity) and they took the opportunity to spill every single stupid, random and clichéd thought into a three hour nightmare.
Mission London (2010)
Extremely poor
I would be so happy if I could turn back time and not lose two hours of my time watching this mockery! I don't even know how to start... The characters are simple even for a comedy. They look more like some bad stand-up comedians depending on the costumes to be believable. The script is awful. Not only they used same jokes most of the time but the jokes weren't even funny. The only thing making this so called movie watchable is the camera work. The trailer is also good. Actually when I saw the trailer I thought it would be a nice funny movie....but.... I can't decide which part of it is the worst... When I walked out of the theater I was wondering who would possibly give money for such a joke and how on Earth did it gain so much popularity and then I remembered all the honest commercials of cigarettes and alcohol drinks in the film. The one thing that bothers me is how some good actors like Julian Vergov or Malin Krystev take part of this hideous nonsense. I won't take the time to comment Lyubo Neikov who isn't an actor, he is just some well known character who makes the teenage audience laugh because he is fat, stupid, cursing, sweaty and disgusting. That's his career. Congratulations! Honestly I felt even a bit depressed after this parade of the stupidity. Seeing Bulgarian pictures such as "The World Is Big.." I thought there was some hope for our cinematography but sadly if we keep on settling with and even celebrating stupid, simple, caddish mockeries like this one and if we dare to call them movies...."good movies" we are going nowhere and the culture of our productions will stay on the lame talk shows and "scandalous" vulgar realities level. I am sorry if I am hurting someone's feelings but that's my opinion :)
District 9 (2009)
Absolute nonsense
Honestly I cant believe they really shot a movie like this one...Terrible...And please?!?!the work with the camera?!really?!?!?!in 21st century they try to make a "real-life" effect with a bunch of awful actors, lame dialogs, bad directing..well actually i cant find even one thing about this film i liked. It was like a cheap both wannabe-scary and obviously disgusting nonsense. I won't even comment the lesson part. I don't know it may be me but wasn't that kind of movies popular in the 90s? I just find it joke-a-like...stinks like a low-budget stupidity and looks like one too...and don't get me wrong: sometimes low-budget movies are way better than the expensive projects but that's when they have some meaning. District 9 is a pathetic combination of cheap-look, bad camera work, bad directing, bad play, bad script, lack of purpose......I can't even describe it...actually in my opinion even 1(awful) is too much for this mockery.
Avatar (2009)
Awful
The first thought in my head was: Are you kidding me?! The story is old and well known, predictable and childish. The technology surely is something new but I've got some simple questions: 1.Is it so hard when you make a nice technology to finish the deal with a nice plot?!?!?!(after all some really brilliant movies are in war for the audience attention and they are being judged for so many things other than effects...) 2.Are we supposed to like those ugly bluish creatures just because they seem real?! 3. Rally? No kidding? U actually believe that a naive predictable cliché story should be called "the best movie" even though its just ridiculous: blue creatures on another planet telling us the story of Pocahontas....seriously I feel abused....
