Bowling for Columbine (2002)

Should be seen, not perfect.

After seeing this movie many time as a french Canadian, I must say that it is eye opening, but should be taken with precaution. The montage of the film is good. A few nice shot along with dynamic change of beat. The sound is good too. The music is good and fit the visual. A little clin d'oeil to a clockwork orange, a nice sound editing and good volume balance between voices and music make it enjoyable to ear. You may have notice from other review around here with 0 knowledge of how to rate a movie, that the information are totally flawed and therefor it is worth a 1 star out of 10, but it is not 100% true. The information in this movie are good but aren't objectives. The KKK and NRA information were a bit changed, and the other Other country's (especially Canada) information butchered. It is not true that Canadian doesn'T lock their door. It is not true that Canadian hang out in front of Taco Bell or that a ghetto look like that in Canada. The movie was made by an American who had very low knowledge of other country culture. But only an idiot could put a score under 4 out of 10 while only judging the information for this movie. Especially considering the fact that it is a movie that display greatly the culture of fear of the united states (No need to be a genius to understand that the American people are afraid).

On a final note, the movie wasn't made for the single purpose of destroying information. It was made to make American realize that there is really something wrong with them. all the other country in the world can tell you that). sure it's not all American that have problem. but there is a lot more then other country on the level of murder and crime against the world.

tl;dr the movie is not perfect and have some flawed informations, but it still does a great job showing a huge problem to anyone who watches it.

7 Days (2010)

Nothing like the book

I read the book before watching the movie. Les sept jours du Talion by Pat. Senecal was way better then the movie. Major element were not put in the movie. The deer thing was originally a dog always crying making Bruno Hamel go insane and yelling at the forest. The movie also forgot to show how crazy and mad bruno hamel turned. we didn't saw him driving drunk and almost crashing in cars. The story seemed incomplete since it lacked on explanation of why he turned like he was in the end. They really rushed the part were he organized the kidnapping of Lemaire, which in the book was methodical and complex that we saw he had turned cold and silent. For the actor part, Marc legault did a really good work, we really felt his anger and his pain. Other then that, not many actor seemed to emerge from the movie. The wife was also left apart of the story, making the movie miss another important thing from the book.

In the end, it wasn't as good as 5150 rue des ormes, another book/movie from senecal, but it was worth watching it.

Avatar (2009)

Another Great Movie

Avatar might be consider by many people as a cliché and another rip off movie. well basically, you cannot say it's all wrong; many movie are cliché and still classified as the best movie. Here you have a traditional story between good and evil, a love story between an alien and a human and stuff like that. It seem like a simple story which basically would end up in a flop, but no. The movie is purely fantastic. It's fantastic to watch, fantastic to ear and it's fantastic to simply see the work behind it. Let's do a simple review of the good aspect.

-Actor: good choice on the actor, a great acting. every character play his role like they should. I don't think this was exceptional, but damn, I don't need more then this to give it a 10.

-Script: Futurist technologies in an ancient world. People from the planet fighting for their land. simple idea procure lot of fun. I enjoyed watching it. you get everything you need in a perfect way. 10/10

-Visual effect: New stuff here! the whole movie will make your eyes bleed out of pleasure. Just looking at this movie make you want to see it. There are so many details in a single shot you won't have enough in only one view.

I don't think the idea is new but it is fresh. the movie is inspired by many other movie. but do that change my mind...no! you simply cannot look at the past movie. because every movie is inspired by another movie and on and on! I think it's simply good and the first thing I did was downloading the torrent after the movie.

Go watch this in cinema before release. It's probably the best movie in 2009 and will remain on the top for a long time I'm sure!

10/10 and a bunch of stars.
