A Night in Old Mexico (2013)
Predictable
I love Robert Duvall. A lot. Unfortunately, this movie had a predictable plot, bad writing and bad acting (even Duvall). It reminded me of an 80s buddy cop film only not as good. Duvall overdid his cantankerous old man role. The Jeremy Irvine was predictable and the Mexican lady was bland. The story kept switching villains as one got shot by another. I'm not sure why. It seemed to serve no real purpose. It was hard to cheer for Duvall when he was chasing after "his" money when it wasn't his money. I hope Duvall makes another good movie because I don't want this one to be his last. Again, I do love Duvall. Guess, I'll go watch No Country for Old Men.
Madea's Witness Protection (2012)
Expected little, got less
I'm not a Medea fan so I expected very little out of this movie. My wife is a fan, so I had to go. I got even less out of this movie. The comedy produced a few chuckles. The plot was so full of holes. Yes, I know it's a comedy and I shouldn't expect it to teach me how a fraud investigation would work but these holes are too big to ignore. Why is the Atlanta District Attorney involved in a federal investigation into a multinational corporation?
The scary mob family NEVER shows up in the movie. The climax, Medea going to the bank and transferring money into twelve accounts for reasons unknown, took two minutes and was so anti-climatic. For the life of me, I still can't figure out why it had to be done much less how. If you're a Medea fan, maybe you should save your $10 ticket money and just watch Tyler Perry's act on TV.
