The Foot Fist Way (2006)
disappointed
As a TaeKwonDo black belt I was hoping for a funnier flick... but this was just so over the top. Had the language not have been so bad it would have been tolerable. I don't know why they thought it was necessary to have so much foul language in the film when a curse word or two would have been enough to convey the scene. The plot was OK but it could have been so much better. I thought it could have been funny but it just wasn't.
I was actually impressed though that the techniques and TKD were actually very good for a movie about TKD. Given the detail given to accuracy of forms and verbiage I hated to see punches to the head in the film.
By the way: "Tae" means "foot" or "to strike with the feet". "Kwon" means "hand", or "to strike with the hand". "Do" means discipline, art, or way. Hence TaeKwonDo (foot-hand-way) means literally "the art of the feet and the hands" or "the art of kicking and punching". Different schools and/or styles may impose different variations on the formal definition however.
American Dreams (2002)
where did it go?
This was one of the finest television shows ever made. The characters were real and the situations were real, believable and the entire show had a hook that made you enjoy watching it week to week... American bandstand and all those great old acts. The show ended with Meg rebelling and riding off with that guy on the motorcycle and when the next season rolled around no more show!!! This was a horrible way to end a show leaving its fan base in limbo. Did Meg return to her good girl ways and come home, did JJ ever go to college etc... This was a wholesome show that tackled some very big issues of both growing up and life itself and with a focus on one family I enjoyed seeing all the characters challenges. I hope NBC (or some other network) will at least film a special to let us know how it all turns out.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
bravo... well done
this film sets into the motion the original Star Wars saga we all grew up with and love. Knowing the story behind the story makes Revenge of the Sith a film that puts into motion all that we know in the original Star Wars trilogy. Anakin was a man before donning the mask Darth Vader. Not just the eerie black mask but the mask that Vader truly hides behind; himself. The choices that Anakin makes have such dire consequences for himself but also the ones that he love. One mistake that he spends the rest of his life in regret of his actions. If you skip the other two new SW movies, don't skip this one as the emotions of all that is yet to come (Episode 4,5,6) is set into motion and now you know why
Wee Sing in Sillyville (1989)
kids STILL love it!
Although adults cannot stand this film for more than 5 seconds, both my children have LOVED this film!!! My son loved this film as a 3-5 year old and now my 3 year old daughter just adores this film. The entire plot keeps them engrossed with fun kid songs that they love to sing. This film is "silly" hence the sillyville but is the best couple bucks I ever spent!!! if you have small children and they love to sing and hear songs then this film is well worth the money spent for it. The sad part for me is that I have heard this film so many times over the years that I can sing just about every song by heart (Yes even the Micheal Finnegan and the Austrian Yoldeling song by the twirly pops) and have found the songs popping into my head at the oddest of times!!! This is the best of the Wee-sing series films by far.
The Sullivans (1944)
Finest movie
This is a must see movie to truly apreciate the sacrifices made for our country by the "greatest generation". The heart of the movie is the lives of the brothers growing up. If the film were made today it would probably focus too much on the actual death of the boys, instead this film instead focuses on the lives that were lived by 5 great american men. If you have never seen this film, get a copy of it and watch a cinematic triumph in storytelling.
Cutthroat Island (1995)
superb
One the most overlooked films in the video arsenal. Great actions sequences, great story, great film! This movie didn't get allot of attention at the box office; too bad because allot of people missed out out. If you haven't seen it, go to Blockbuster and rent it. You won't be dissapointed.
