Sunday School Musical (2008)
I'm so happy I didn't buy it.
My family has bought a lot of Christian DVD's recently. I, personally bought one which was a Filipino Christian movie. It was really worth the price so I decided to look for another. As I was browsing along the store, I saw this and it cost 250 Php. Thank God I only got 200 during the moment.
When I finally got home I looked at this page and found too many negative feedback about the film. Because of them, I decided to download an illegal copy first, not to watch it but just to preview it. I do not support piracy.
About the film, I had my left eyebrow raised the whole time. As I move the slider, there's always an awkward scene. The cinematography, the acting, the music, the projection, the choreography, the dialogue... It isn't cheesy...not even cool. It sucks, to be honest. As a fan of both modern and classic musicals, I can say so.
I think the director is good. So are the actors, the song writers, and everyone who made this film although it made me feel like I was watching a movie I made for a school project. They need more training and everything. They can be better. I believe this isn't their best yet.
I'm still looking forward to future projects of Faith Films even though this was a big disappointment... I'm just going to buy To Save A Life when it's out in my country rather than this.
My Sassy Girl (2008)
It sucks compared to the original. But...
Everyone told me to watch the original version first before I do watch this one. Before watching both, I've seen "Windstuck" and got *struck* by Gianna Jun... so I watched the original version.
Comparing this one the the first one, this sucks. They "shrunk" the story... the days, how things happened... and almost everything about the "My Sassy Girl" story. I hated it not just because I do but because "My Sassy Girl" is not just an ordinary story! It's a true-to-life story. But since they mentioned it, I guess it's okay... LoL Most people think this sucks but I don't. I know i said this sucks... comparing to the original version. But as a different movie, this is great. I won't explain how and why. You'll just have to watch the movie yourself. I tell you, it's worth watching.
God bless.
The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008)
non-sense...
I thought it was a good movie. I've read the forum and saw the question "Is it bad to be a demon?" Of course, it is. Except if you want to spend eternity in hell...
Molly died on her birth. Her mother had lost lots of babies before so she and her husband was really desperate. A woman (which happens to be the guidance counselor in her school) was standing in front of them offering them the life of their baby but with an exchange: On her 18th birthday, her life belongs to the devil. They agreed.
While growing up, her mother always try to kill her to stop her from becoming a servant of the devil. But she failed.
I thought in the end, she will be saved. But, no. And the way she became one of the demons is very... uhmmm... like, "noo!!! why!! arrgghhhh.. is there another way?!" I found this movie really thrilling but is a waste. Waste for waiting for the moment that she will be saved. But that waiting is for nothing.
I found "Maligno" better. It's a Filipino TV Series which is kind of like this. But the kid was saved.
High School Musical (2006)
The story and the title... Not just because it's musical...
I have been given an HSM: The Junior Novel book and have finished reading it for less than a day. I didn't notice most parts of the story that affect the title.
At first, I thought that it was entitled "High School Musical" because it is musical. Watching the movie, I didn't like it that much because it's musical-ness is less than what I expected. Reading the book, I finally understood.
As I've said, I thought that the title was because the movie is musical. But now, I guess, it's not. In the book, they called the Winter Musicale, "High School Musical". That "High School Musical" changed the school. Before, students only hang out with their peer group. But because Troy and Gabriella, and the High School Musical, every student become united.
Before, I rated this movie 7. But now that I fully understand it, i give it 10.
*Sorry for some grammar mistakes. I'm tired and stressed.
Another Cinderella Story (2008)
This is not what I thought. I was amazed!
I am a man who doesn't watch this kind of movies. I watched the first version of this which is "A Cinderella Story" starring Hilary Duff. I honestly didn't like that because it's just not my type, I guess.
I didn't know this movie exist until I saw a poster from one of my favorite websites. I was attracted because of Selena (by the way, she's my crush) so I borrowed a DVD from my classmate. I didn't notice Seeley at first but when I looked at the poster closer, I was like, "Oh my gosh! He's kind of old for Selena!" The movie focused on the life of our Cinderella here, which is Mary (Gomez). She totally fits her character. Her mom is a dancer and so is she. She lives in the house of her pop star step-mom with her two weird step-sisters.
During their prom night, where everyone is supposed to wear mask, Mary danced with Joey. Her step sisters and Natalia, Joey's ex-girlfriend, got so jealous so they got rid of Mary.
One of my favorite parts of this movie is the search. There is one girl... and emo girl who tried to show Joey herself. She is so funny.
Anyway, I don't want to tell the plot anymore. You better watch it. It's worth it. It is totally not a waste of time.
