Smart Movie
9 November 2023
Yes this is an amateur indie, but this is good! I highly recommend it!

It starts off with a few kids breaking into a house with a promise of money if they can stay in a stranger's house until morning. But the house is chosen for them and they have no idea what they've signed up for...

Definitely stick in until the end. One character keeps making smart moves but you might not see it until closer to the end. And I absolutely LOVED the psychology move in there toward the end. Smart and quick thinking!

This movie has flavors of trapped in a house by killers, Norman Bates, and those dangerous games where you rope in normal people with a promise of money.

Not a Standard Horror/Thriller
21 April 2023
If you are looking for a high-energy, monsters around the corner, type of movie - this isn't it.

It is entertaining! It's got a bit of mystery. And... yeah, some things are left unanswered. (Thus the knocked off stars.) BUT, from the protag's POV: The unanswered things work for me. And I wasn't disappointed.

Some people don't get the ending. I completely understood the ending. I suppose it depends on the mindset of the viewer. If you don't understand it at first, remember what the protag said earlier about not being a 'target'.

Overall, I found this a fun way to spend some time. It was interesting enough to keep my attention, I wanted to wait for the ending, and I was pleased with it.

This movie had such good potential

BUT, besides the bad acting, it makes me wonder if the writer has ever experienced a home invasion. People who have been broken into before would act much differently unless they had serious blinders on.

And if I were the dad-character, I'd sue that plane company.

Past that though, this is not an energetic-thriller. The characters are all stupid (except the boyfriend. He was cool.) And the ending could've been done much better. But it's a good movie for facepalming the character's decisions and wondering why the killer hasn't fallen asleep somewhere yet. I still enjoyed it.

I'd still recommend giving it a try if you are someone who likes trying 3-star movies. It's a good 3-star.

Boring
17 January 2023
As an ex-Mormon, I was curious to see how this did. The first ep, they got a lot of stuff right. One major thing wrong. But the feel is there. (Or, at least, where I was, it was against the rules to clasp your hands in prayer. You were to 'fold your arms'.)

My 1-star though comes from the fact that it is so boring that I was counting down until the first episode ended. I won't watch the rest.

Acting seemed good, cool to see the people they chose for it. And the French fry scene gave me a laugh. Music was interesting. Wish they focused more on whodunnit instead of church history, but whatever.

Glad some enjoy it, but I'll pass.

Maybe a C Movie
3 December 2017
Charlotte was a way to waste an hour and half while wondering what kind of stuff the movie was going to show next. I was hoping it was going to surprise me with turning into a B-horror, but it kept dropping lower every time I got excited thinking it was getting better.

The main story is that a babysitter is being slowly messed with by a doll. The doll is showing the babysitter movies while other changes are happening.

The audience gets to see snippets of what is happening to the babysitter, just enough to figure out what is going on. And the movie mostly focuses on the one-shots that the doll is "showing" the babysitter. You see the babysitter, a movie, the babysitter, a movie, and so on.

The whole doll thing is lame. And the first story is muffled at times. Some stories I'd rate a B, some a C, and some - just lame. The acting is off or forced, and sometimes you can tell the actors are just having fun instead of completely in the story.

There are some scenes with a bit of blood, and one with a pinch of gore.

Overall though, it's a weird way to spend an hour and a half.
