Garfield in Disguise (1985)
For Garfield Fans
I've always been a big Garfield fan ever since I was a kid, and enjoyed reading the daily comics as well as buying merchandise from coloring books to clothing. The classic animated show is very delightful and amusing with Garfield's antics and great love of food, especially his favorite dish lasagna. The late Lorenzo Music captured the overweight orange cat's sarcasm and sense of humor in the best way possible and let's not forget Garfield's brilliant creator Jim Davis, who did a fantastic job and continues to do so with the famous feline. If you want nostalgia during Halloween, this show is the right one for you.
Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster (2023)
The Worst Documentary
I was expecting an interesting documentary about Jared Fogle's rise to fame and fall from grace, but instead, the focus is on an unknown woman named Rochelle who had a radio show in Florida. Once she found out about the Subway spokesman's attraction to minors, she pretended to be his girlfriend while she secretly recorded their phone conversations when she should've reported him to the authorities for being a pedophile, her son had no business in being in that documentary since he wasn't one of Fogle's victims. It was bizarre how the producers didn't interview any of Fogle's former friends, business associates or the marketing team at Subway so they could provide a clear picture of what he was like as a person with all that fame and money when he was sexually abusing children behind closed doors. This documentary could've been better if the focus was on Fogle and not Rochelle.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Adrenaline Rush
Fans of the Mission: Impossible franchise are going to experience the best Adrenaline rush in Dead Reckoning Part One, which includes death-defying stunts that will keep them on the edge of their seats as they follow Ethan Hunt and his team in their latest mission against a ruthless enemy from Ethan's past. Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby and newcomers Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff give outstanding performances in this seventh installment that deserves to be seen on the largest screen. The plot, cinematography, stunts and soundtrack blend perfectly in this amazing summer blockbuster, and it's worth the wait.
The Diana Investigations (2022)
Interesting Documentary
In this documentary, each person gives his or her perspective on the tragic car accident that claimed the life of the most photographed woman in the world inside that tunnel in Paris 25 years ago. Whether Princess Diana's death was just an accident or a conspiracy, it's up to individuals to decide based on the facts and evidence presented by French and British experts, who spent years and millions of dollars to investigate that case and get to the bottom of what happened on that fateful night.
This is a very interesting documentary for fans of unsolved mysteries and crimes, it also sheds light on the events that took place prior to the incident and those who knew Diana and her new companion.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
The Best Blockbuster in Years
I've seen Top Gun: Maverick three times since its release and can't get enough of this epic sequel that pays homage to the 1986 classic with superstar Tom Cruise in the lead. The movie is filmed in IMAX cameras, which gives fans the most exciting movie experience as they find themselves in the cockpits of those powerful F-18 Super Hornets and with zero CGI. The storyline is perfectly written and we witness Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell who lives on the edge as a test pilot and refuses to retire until he's given orders by the Navy to train new pilots, including Goose's son for a clandestine mission. Once again, Tom Cruise proves that he's a versatile actor, who gives 100% in every film while perfecting his stunts and even flying his own plane. Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller are brilliant in their roles respectively. Top Gun: Maverick is the Summer's best blockbuster and it's the movie we've been waiting for.
Inheritance (2020)
A Mind-Blowing Thriller
I saw Inheritance today and it really blew my mind after I assumed it was just a typical drama about power and a wealthy New York family's reputation. Simon Pegg and Lily Collins are sublime in their roles respectively. This movie is enjoyable and it should get more recognition.
Commando (1985)
A Brilliant Arnold Schwarzenegger Movie
Arnold Schwarzenegger is known for being one of Hollywood's famous action stars and he gave an unforgettable performance in Commando which came after the success of The Terminator, his iconic film to date. The action sequences in Commando are superb and breathtaking, in addition to the nostalgic music of the 80's. Action fans will love this brilliant movie!
Ji xian feng (2020)
Jackie Chan Still Has It
Jackie Chan has been doing his stunts and entertaining fans in the last three decades, and he continues to shine despite being in his late 60's. Vanguard is another popcorn movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat just live every JC movie.
Hot Fuzz (2007)
Hot Fuzz
Simon Pegg is very convincing as the overachieving cop Nicholas Angel in this action-dark comedy movie. Hot Fuzz is a must see for fans of British comedy and cop movies.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)
The Serial Killer
Ted Bundy was the subject of crime documentaries and movies over the years as he became one of the most notorious serial killers in America. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile tells a story from the perspective of Ted Bundy's former girlfriend Liz and her love for the man who had a dark secret. It was great to see Zac Efron evolving from a teen heartthrob to a serious actor in this crime drama, he even captured Bundy's mannerisms and charm during the trial. This movie is a must see.
Minority Report (2002)
Tom Cruise's Stellar Performance
Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg gave movie buffs an underrated sci-fi film based on Philip K. Dick's short story with twists and mind blowing CGI - at that time - in a futuristic Washington DC. Tom Cruise is incredible in Minority Report, and his stellar performance as John Anderton marked the beginning of his successful movies in the sci-fi genre that later followed. Everybody runs!
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
The Funniest Action Movie
Bad Boys for Life will make you laugh at the jokes while the action sequences keep you on the edge of your seat. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are terrific in this third installment, and they still got it with their hilarious interactions. Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer never disappoints when it comes to action movies and it looks like a fourth movie is in the works.
Just Mercy (2019)
Powerful Drama
Just Mercy is a non-fictional courtroom drama about a young lawyer, who fought to keep an innocent black man off death row after he was falsely accused of murdering a white girl. Michael B. Jordan gave an excellent performance in this underrated movie that shed light on the injustice that blacks have faced due to bigotry and corruption, and also exposed the rigged justice system that protected the wealthy and sent the poor to prison. The failed Academy should've nominated this film for best picture and best actor instead of Quentin Tarantino's overrated flick.
That '70s Show (1998)
Funny Show
That 70's Show is one of the best sitcoms to date and it perfectly depicts life in the 70's through a gang of high schoolers and their parents living in the state of Wisconsin. It's really funny and entertaining thanks to the creators, who created this unforgettable sitcom with references to historical events and 70's pop culture, in addition to paying attention to other details such as the clothes, furniture and cars from that era. Despite Eric's departure, Red, Kitty and Donna managed to carry the show and they're my favorite characters while Jackie is by far the worst. Today's sitcoms are not as funny as That 70's Show.
Joker (2019)
DC Does It Again! Eat Your Hearts Out, Marvel
Joker will always be one of the most iconic villains in pop culture. In this dark movie, mental illness and injustice drive a simple man into madness as he struggles to be a comedian and put a smile on people's faces. I've never liked Joaquin Phoenix and his movies, but he did a wonderful job as Batman's archenemy.
Rambo III (1988)
John Rambo is Amazing
I've never been a fan of Sylvester Stallone, but at the age of 39 I began to appreciate the Rambo films since I'm a huge fan of action movies. Rambo III is an enjoyable sequel like the last two movies with the main character using his survival skills and weapons to fight and kill the enemy without mercy.
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Well Done
Sylvester Stallone is amazing in Rambo: Last Blood and hasn't lost his touch. Ignore the nasty critics who can't accept an entertaining action movie due to political correctness.
Aladdin (2019)
Terrific
I decided to see Aladdin because of Will Smith and he did a terrific job as the Genie. Don't let the haters discourage you from watching the movie.
Endeavour: Degüello (2019)
Great Episode
The final episode of season 6 is an unforgettable cliffhanger and cements Endeavour's status as an underrated detective drama that lives up to Inspector Morse. Shaun Evans and Roger Allam are an incredible duo, and I look forward to see the latest episode of this brilliant show.
Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014)
Suicide Squad
I saw Suicide Squad a long time ago and I really liked this animated movie about a band of anti-heroes carrying out secret and deadly missions. It's a dark and adult-oriented movie with a twist as Batman and some of his of adversaries are in a race against time to prevent a disaster from taking place in Gotham.
Wonder Woman (2017)
DC Greatness
Gal Gadot is impressive as Wonder Woman in her first solo action movie after her debut in Batman VS Superman Dawn of Justice, and she nailed one of DC's most iconic characters. More greatness from DC and looking forward to see Wonder Woman 1984.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
When Rock Music Was Entertaining
Bohemian Rhapsody is not only for Queen fans, but also for people who appreciate rock music when it used to be entertaining unlike the trash we are listening today.
Man of Steel (2013)
Sublime
I saw Man of Steel five years ago on Father's Day and I really enjoyed it. Henry Cavill is perfect as the latest Superman/Clark Kent of this decade and liked how his iconic suit - without the red briefs - is given a new makeover. The other actors like Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane and of course, Michael Shannon are great in their roles respectively. The DC Universe is getting better with each movie based on our favorite superheros. Man of Steel is sublime and the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is awesome.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Better in IMAX!
Mission:Impossible Fallout is absolutely the most exciting movie of the summer and all the credit goes to Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie, who really raised the bar and gave movie-goers an action movie packed with intense stunts like never before. The locations were beautiful and breathtaking, that's why watching the movie in IMAX gives you the thrill you need to enjoy the best mission yet with Ethan and his friends and foes. Bond and Marvel movies can never achieve this level of perfection like the Mission:Impossible franchise, and CGI is spoiling the way movies are made because people want to watch a film that keeps them on the edge of their seats with great characters and plots.
Go watch it as soon as possible.
Law & Order True Crime (2017)
Excellent Drama
This courtroom drama sheds light on the Menendez bothers and how California's corrupted justice system was biased against them from day one even though Lyle and Erik's testimonies on being sexually abused by their parents were proven to be true. Edie Falco was incredible as the charismatic defense lawyer Leslie Abramson and gave an outstanding performance throughout the series, and both Gus Halper and Miles Gaston Villaneuva were terrific in their portrayal of the brothers in terms of their psychological suffering which ultimately caused them to shoot their abusive parents in self-defense. It's a shame that the Menendez brothers are still incarcerated despite their appeals, but hopefully they'll be free now that the public is aware of child molestation and all forms of sexual abuse.
