Peter Pan Projects
31 titles |
Public
I did like the Disney movie when I was a kid, but I could only really appreciate J.M. Barrie's fairy tale when I was a little older. Since then, I'm intrigued by the story and it's different adaptations. We're lucky that a lot of new approaches are being made, but older ones are included in my list too. Suggestions are always welcome.
Projects that are announced, but are not yet listed on IMDb: Neverland (with Pan as the villain and Hook as the hero), Untitled Peter Pan Project (family adventure); The.Never.Land (young adult approach), Peter and Wendy (an NBC workplace romantic comedy told from the point of view of Wendy, a woman who wants to find love with a real man, but finds herself falling for Peter, who refuses to fully embrace adulthood - script only for now). Cancelled: Peter Pan (an updated version of the musical with a male lead).

Snow White Stories

The story of Snow White is particularly hot these days. A lot of new adaptations are in the works. Though there have been versions in the past, there were never many of them. I believe Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is not an easy fairy tale to reinterpret, but it seems that some interesting things are happening.
Movies for a Splendid Girls' Night In

This is a list consisting of titles that all of my four friends and I would enjoy. We are a diverse bunch of friends. We have different personalities, but also different tastes. Therefore it's not always easy to pick out a film. The main genres we all like are drama and romance. But the titles below can also contain a dash of fantasy or sci-fi, though nothing too present. Great for watching with your mom too. Enjoy!
Cinderella Cinema

Cinderella is probably the most beloved and retold fairy tale of all time. It captures the hope that everything will turn out as it should be and that true love conquers all. The story is very dear to my heart, possibly perhaps I sometimes tend to lose faith. The Slipper and the Rose and EverAfter are two of my all-time favourite movies.
I'm not very fond of the teen adaptations, hence I did not include them in this list.
Projects that are announced, but not yet listed on IMDb: Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story (optioned book by Carolyn Turgeon).

Marvelous Movies of Oz

There are a lot of different Oz-projects. I am very interested in all of them and I thought it would be useful to list them here. Excitement should be shared. All titles, old and new, are chronologically ordered. I do not claim to include all Oz projects ever made.
Cancelled projects: OZ (by the Polish Brothers - thanks to MGM), The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (John Boorman's faithful animated retelling), The Wizard of Oz (Warner Bros remake of the ’39 movie - what were they thinking anyway?), Warriors of Oz (action-adventure miniseries from Syfy by Timur Bekmambetov, which follows a warrior from present day earth who is transported to the future and a post-apocalyptic Oz), Dorothy Must Die (CW drama based upon the young adult novel of the same name by Danielle Paige, in which a young woman from Kansas learns that she is destined to lead the people of Oz in the fight to reclaim their land from a power-hungry Dorothy).

Fifty Shades of Red

Little Red Riding Hood is a gruesome and difficult fairy tale to adapt. If you want to stay true to the original material, you'll have to add a human-eating-and-disguising wolf, which is hard to sell anyway. If you want to modernize it, you soon tend to include serial-killers, paedophiles and stalkers. As a result not many of the titles below are suited for children.
Halloween Treats for Softies

Horror is a genre that I cannot digest. It deprives me of sleep and injects me with a whole lot of unnecessary fear. You'd think I want nothing to do with Halloween. However, I passionately love a dark Autumn night. Therefore on October 31st I like to cuddle up in front of the television and enjoy a not-so-scary Halloween themed evening. Though softies can rejoice, not all titles on this list are appropriate for children.
Beauties & Beasts

There is always more than meets the eye. For sure I want to be loved for who I am, rather than be judged solely on my appearance. Beauty and the Beast pricks superficiality and I love that. There have been adaptations in the past, but some of them are somewhat hard to find. I'm thankful for new ones, which I will able to cherish and re-watch as much as I want.
