Here comes some cursing for the ending
Well, I have a couple things to say for this one. First of all, I was casually enjoying it from the beginning until closure part comes up and changes my idea. Don't get me wrong, on an emotional level I cried and enjoyed the unnecessary death of the ml anyway BUT still, It left me disappointed and kind of lost regarding the plot in general. On top of every hole throughout the plot that they didn't bother to fill up, they left us uninformed(!) about the reason of the main lead's unnecessary sudden death. Like why did they even do it, how come it serves the plot or anything? It started as a high school sweet&silly romance and for a dramatic ending, there would have been many other ways to make the audience emotionally impressed.
Despite the poor ending, acting performances are great and it is okay to watch if you are looking for a light movie with some high school romance.

If you're in the mood of historical heart aching romance, just go for it! Highly recommended!
Definitely one of the best productions I've seen in a while. I mean, I am a very detail oriented person and there's nothing in life I enjoy more than accurate representations of things in a production like historical objects or fashion ect. Every detail in this series is very well thought&made in my opinion. My visual tastebuds were like "hell yeah." The development of the story and everything is good too except for the final maybe, because for some reason I was expecting a different ending. But still made me cry and throughout the series it was definitely worth to watch. Especially, shout out to the female lead! How beautiful she is and her acting was. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Enjoyed the whole package of emotional, romantic, heartbreaking story so much and finished it right away. Go go go!! Ps* I had no idea Indonesian sounded that good.

GO FOR IT!! Now!
It was really such a well-made dramaaa! I enjoyed it a lot in so many ways! There are a loot of things to say about this one starting from the amazing actor performances of both the leads, supporters and even sometimes the extra characters...to the plot, costumes... everything was advance in detail and everybody did a great job in acting I must say.
Especially in our household, everybody fell for Gu Dong Mae, I immediately googled the actor's other performances because he was literally lit playing the character.
Eventhough the plot was fictional it was portrayed in such a realistic way, i might have ended up with my emotions got strongly manipulated towards Japan's role in Korea's history. And this, my friends, is the power&art of Cinema.
And I was expecting the series would end with kind of an happy ending being exposed to typical romance stories since forever but now I see that we were given all the clue by the very beginning how the story was going to develop and end... Gun, Glory, Love, Sad Ending... it was all there throughout the series, in fact, repeatedly... but maybe i wanted to believe it would go with ordinary screenwriting cliches for a happy ending.
Another thing that shocked me that there was not even one kissing scene at all despite all that tension of great love and longing between the protagonists.... like hooow!? I definitely need that much of a cliche please! It burned me out with all that longing... i felt like i was left all high and dry after that last episode. And cried like a river.
If you are a fan of nostalgic scenery, historical plots and romance...go for this one without hesitation. 98% recommended. Cut that 2% for the kissing scene they have stolen from me.
