Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

Ok if you can overlook the overacting of the younger cast
5 November 2022
It's ok if you can stand cringy characters and plots from 30 years ago. It has heart and the original witches are great, but the gen Z crowd kind of ruins it. If you're drunk or are used to the B grade BS 2022 films comes out with, then you can probably tolerate this film.

The younger cast have no depth except trying to repair a friendship we don't care about, there needed to be more interest and obsession with the original witches as that is the story we all care about.

Bette, Sarah and Kathy are the redeemable duo. Might have been better to do a prequel rather than a sequel.

The additional song. One way or another was the only thing worth the price of admission.

A high budget fan film

Possibly the most unnecessary film ever made, it is just a poor imitation of the original with the same dialogue just overly cringey acting.

Sets were pretty cool but didn't redeem it.

Stick with the original.

There had better be a season 2
4 April 2021
This was awesome, while it has some Disney channel style cheesiness it's the perfect flavor of cheese.

Sweet, funny, heartfelt and characters you care about with good music. Enjoy!

Sensational
18 April 2019
Very intricate plot devised brilliantly, it starts off with a very rich backstory and continues from there. Very accurately titled as everyone in this show wants the Iron Throne.

A lot of blood spills and even more sex happens, this show is not for the faint of heart. Brilliant acting from the cast, highlight to Peter Dinklage.

Don't get too attached to any one character as it sets a record for killing them off just when you think they're safe.

Debates and theories take up the majority of the fans group chats, it's a show to get obsessed about.

Great Fun

Warning: Spoilers
If you're in the mood to laugh and watch something lighthearted this is the right movie for you. It's easy to follow and has great replay value, Adam and Rebel play off each other well and who knew Liam Hemsworth could do comedy? It's a rare film where the plus size girl gets with the hot guy and helps us live the fantasy

Badly done
18 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited for this one, I am a fan of the Kissing Booth and To All the Boys I've Loved before, this one lacked any charm. It was exhausting that the main love interest was introduced as a mean hateful type and didn't soften or have any redeemable qualities, and there was zero chemistry between them. And the fights between him and the best friend were very flimsy, why did he surround himself with such whiny horrible people? The whole purpose of him going on dates to get money for college and then he doesn't even apply for the college he wants and ends up getting the crappy girl. Very disappointed.

I've seen better acting in porn
28 November 2018
I didn't even get to the the end of the film I just couldn't. I was swept up in the cheesy Christmas Netflix films but this one was an insult to the rest.

They hired very beautiful people who probably took acting lessons from their gym teacher. Hard plot to follow and very aware it's a movie because in real life people aren't that boring and useless.

Slightly Disturbing and Uninspired
31 March 2018
The plot was quite interesting at first when it's essentially a sci fi mystery, but they made the characters very boring and unlikable.

The more we watch the more questions that are raised the less answers we get which is frustrating to watch. The ending was unclear and drug trippy for the sake of being bold and unique.

The only redeemable quality of this film were the visual effects and the fact that it was female centric, but that makes it pointless when they are characters that you don't care if they live or die.

Very disappointing film

Weird and Stupid
4 February 2018
I bought the dvd when my local dvd store had a closing down sale, and the $4 I spent on it was wasted. It started off with a lot of potential, a simple plot about how different couples spice up a relationship but as it progressed the plot got harder to follow.

It was unclear by the middle what these characters were trying to do, everyone was running around either naked or in their underwear for no other reason than trying for a cheap laugh.

They plot relied heavily on the concept of 'its not what it looks like' but without even explaining to the audience what is actually was.

Poor effort and actors wasted

As a fan of the book, I wan't impressed
25 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I wouldn't go as far as some others have by calling it the worst movie ever made, it had some highlights and after breaking box office records one can surmise that is has a strong appeal. However, from book to movie this adaptation was below average.

I was never happy with the casting, I always thought that Christian Grey was a very muscular and tall man, similar to Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, and I imagined Ana quite petite- I felt that Christian was physically dominant over Ana in this way. Jamie and Dakota are a very similar build and the contrast between the two is not clear, they're just two normal people. As for Jamie as Christian Grey he did not capture the ever dominant, possessive, obsessive tortured billionaire- and not as charming and charismatic as described in the books. I saw little appeal to be honest, perhaps after those high expectations.

While he looked more like Christian than Charlie Hunman, I wonder if Charlie was better suited? Dakota I felt was very bland, I did not believe Christian would obsess over her, she was just another girl.

A lot of the sex scenes were toned down for the movie, and a lot of characters were cut out. I can understand this for time constraints but it felt very rushed to me.

I heard the rumors that Jamie and Dakota didn't get along during filming and if that is true it explains a lot, there was very little chemistry between the two.

There were some moments that were good, the elevator kiss and the first sex scene were good, but not necessarily as good as they could have been.

Having said all that, I'll be back for the sequel. Don't judge me

Not Great
19 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I had a look at this because I am fond of Analeigh Tipton and Miles Tiller from a lot of their previous work, and it looked like a cute romantic comedy. Not a lot of laughs, more awkward conversations about what each likes in bed took up the majority of the movie. The big secret of him having a girlfriend was very cliché, and got very weird when he got her put in jail. I had a hard time understanding how anyone who's not insane would think that was a good idea. And at the end they had not improved their situations, both were suddenly homeless and she was still unemployed but, oh goody- they have each other. Kinda one step forward two steps back. There were a few cute moments in it but I was bored throughout. Nothing I haven't seen before in more charismatic rom coms.

Man of Steel (2013)

Superman Does NOT Kill (Spoilers)
20 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I am a hardcore superman fan. I am writing this review on my phone which has a Superman phone case. I am wearing Superman socks. And I have never been as disappointed in a movie since I watched Star Wars the Phantom Menace. This was an awful almost mockery instalment of my favourite franchise.

2 out of 10 stars.

I would give it 0 if it weren't for Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill.

Russell is a solid Jor El, standing up for the good of the Kryptonions, sacrificing himself for his son, showing him the right way etc. etc. I was always happy he was cast in this role.

Henry Cavill- all muscles and shirtlessness- yes, that got my interest and kept me watching. Oh, eh hem, yes, his performance was fine, it didn't quite encapsulate the wholesome good hearted nature of the man of steel. The only hint was him in the bar when he stood up for that waitress, but he decided to moodily leave and wreck his truck instead.

I also wasn't happy that they had made him so moody and dark, that's not what Clark Kent is, he's full of joy, his desire to make the world a better and happier place stems from his joyful and warm hearted nature, not 'oh no, it's my destiny, I have no choice, I have to grudgingly come forward and save the world even though I'd rather stay on a god damn fisherman's boat'.

My main hesitation for watching this film was they had cast Amy Adams as Lois Lane. I already dislike Amy Adams. She is very bland and incredibly overrated, but keeps getting cast. She can only play one character: the pathetic woman, which Lois Lane is NOT. I describe Lois Lane as Buffy without the supernatural elements. The woman who lead the suffragette's. She takes no crap from anyone and stands up for herself. And she has a great sense of humor and a love for food. All these elements were missing. She is a sassy woman. Margot Kidder GOT that, she nailed it. If you read the first issue of the Superman comic it's there, it was NOT what Amy Adams decided to do. There was no sass, Lois is sassy, that's why Clark loves her, and that's why the world understands that he loves her and would give up his powers to be with her, because she's interesting- not a plank of bloody wood. What the hell did he see in her, seriously??

And then Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent. No, just no. I can't put too much blame on Kevin, but he still accepted a hack's retelling of what Jonathan Kent should be. Jonathan showed Clark the difference between right and wrong, taught him to control his powers and conceal them- NOT suppress them completely.

After the bus crash and young Clark says to him 'what was I supposed to do? let them die?' and Jonathan said 'maybe'. That's not only absolutely not what Jonathan Kent would ever say to anyone ever, but also terrible parenting. If you have the choice to save a bus full of school children, do it. One person's secret identity is not worth 20 young innocent lives. I wanted to spit on him. And when the tornado came and Clark was ready to rescue him but he's like, no, I'll die instead of be easily saved by you, I was like 'good riddance' he was better off without him. And wanting him to just work on the farm instead of go out and help the freaking world, all Jonathan did was suppress him, making him lead a miserable life, on the run, no friends, crappy jobs- like what the hell? Is this what you want for your kid?

And how much destruction can one city take? It was like judgement day by the end.

And my last rant, Superman does NOT KILL, but hey, let's just ignore that rule and snap Zod's neck. If you had the strength to do that wouldn't you have had the strength to knock his ass to the ground?? SUPERMAN DOES NOT KILL- that is why he's super. Superawesome, supercool- A SUPER-MAN. And he should have had the red underwear, don't change the franchise to suit your stupid idea's, just make another movie about an alien with super human powers. Just no, this movie was all wrong and I will never get the dollar back that I wasted renting this. I am disgusted. I have to go watch Christopher Reeve in Superman I to restore my faith in this franchise.
