My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission (2021)

Finally I get here

Mark! I finally watched this film and finished all My Hero Academia's anime available so far. I started this anime during the time I'm preparing my Canadian Study Permit application. It's been a long time since I was so immersed in an anime. I couldn't resist watching all the available episodes without a period of suspension. Totally five seasons plus 3 films, which are approximately 2550 mins (42.5 hours).

This amount of time is quite enormous for me. 42.5 hours means completing 8 novels or a whole week's working hours! I guess I can take a break for a while.

The Study Permit application is almost done. After that, I will settle my mind again and invest my time on CS50 course and some books! Cheer up!

By the way, this film itself is really nonsense in terms of logic and reality. I'll not waste my language to review it. Just like the other films of My Hero Academia, purely existence for gorgeous scene.

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Still the same recipe

I never watched Top Gun 1 before, mainly because I'm afraid that I can't enjoy the old quality of an old movie. I guess that doesn't matter at all after I watched Maverick.

The storyline is so familiar to me, not because I'm familiar with the series. This is just the same with most Hollywood movie storylines.

This time, the only difference is that the enemy doesn't have an exact country name.

Besides these, my overall review of this movie is positive. It's my very first time watching a pilot theme movie. Kind of novel for me. And also, I'm a big fan of Tom Cruise. I have a clear understanding that his movie can't be touching in terms of story.

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (2019)

Can't be serious

Just a pure movie edition, you can't be serious with the story. The enemy is unbelievable powerful and the solution is also crazily mad. The movie is gorgeous, especially the action part. But it's just because the director wanted it, not because they want to stand out the plot. I guess gorgeousness itself is the true theme of this movie.

I'm sorry for jiaodong, the director apparently weaken him in this movie. Why not make it the three big? The gap between two main characters and other guys become bigger and bigger. I don't like this trend. Other guys please hurry up. I'm eager to see your fantastic performances.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Good but not that good

Before watching, I thought this is some kinds of historical theme movie. I thought Button was a General or something. Never mind.

The plot of this movie is indeed amazing. The performances of those characters are without a double fabulous. Benjamin's leaving in the end of the movie help erecting a sensational atmosphere which is quite clever and good, provided it feels natural. However, regardless, I can't be convinced by the reason that results in Benjamin's leaving, and my doubt made me feel that this movie is a little bit unreal and illogical. I suppose this is the only flaw of this movie in my opinion.

I also didn't like the appearance of our leading actress, but that's just a question of aesthetic and had nothing to do with the movie itself.

After the Storm (2016)

Unbelievable peace

The movie is so simple, so flat, and the plot is so normal that I was still waiting for something happening when the movie came to an end. The whole movie is just like the Grandma. All the characters are so spiritless just like Grandma. I didn't know how I feel and what to express after the curtain fell down.

But I did know that, as I always expected, Abe is a great actor. His performance is the only humor point of the movie.

Hidden Figures (2016)

Really inspiring, the story.

It's so nice to live in a country that although has many problems like discrimination and unjust but can correct themselves and improve over time.

We all have sins brought from old time. However, future belongs to the people who can get rid of those and evolve. I desperately can't see any hope of an arrogant nation.

Dele (2018)

exactly straight to my heart

The plot is great. The characters are great. The heartwarming stories are great. Even more the background music in the end of every episode is so great. Coding is sure enough interesting and useful. After finishing this show, I have a strong feeling eager to learn coding!

Downtown Rocket (2015– )

Sure enough, this is without a doubt my cup of tea!

My favorite part of this series is Abe Hiroshi. I love almost every character he played. Abe Hiroshi always gives me a sense of reliable and aspiring. It's just like some kinds of remedy to rescue me from negative status from time to time. Moreover, this series is absolutely suit Abe's image. No matter how utopian the plot is, it indeed inspires people. No matter how depressed and lazy I'm, I can turn into activated model.

However, the daughter of our hero was unsatisfactory. I couldn't feel a bit of adorable from her. She is pretty and her figure is great of course, I guess it's due to her poor acting skill.

Flying Colors (2015)

Not so good as Doragon-Sakura

I inevitably compare this film with the former TV show Doragon-Sakura and its sequel. That's the reason why I chose to watch it.

The fact is, this film is not as good as Doragon-Sakura in many ways. The most serious one is the image of that key teacher. Kanji Sakuragi was so cool and determined in Doragon-Sakura, while in this film, the teacher was so weak and unimpressed. This disappointed me the most.

Another reason why this film performed poorer than DS is the length I guess. After all, 10 episodes showed a greater advantage than 2 hours in terms of atmosphere and depth.

All in all, this film didn't successfully transfer the spirit I needed originally. What a pity.

Endeavour: Game (2017) Season 4, Episode 1

Guess I need some more adaptation

This opener of season 4 seems quite acclaimed among other reviews. However, I can hardly tell any highlights about the crime. I even got a feeling that the new pretty journalist might become one of the main characters, moreover, might have an affair with Morse.

All in all, I didn't catch up the story development until the last several minutes. I guess I still need some experiences to be familiar with the culture and to adapt the genre.

By the way, the missing paper scene was quite fit my appetite. Need some more frustration to accelerate the growth of Morse.

Boku no yabai tsuma (2016)

Beautiful logic, but without believable reasons.

Indeed the plots were well designed. The trend of the story turned almost every episode. The ending is absolutely surprising.

However, I just can't feel the reality of the story. Mainly because I can't comprehend how could the wife plan all those just for love. Since when keeping your husband stay by side by all means = happy marriage. Crime and law are both logical, but not human's feeling. You can play well and keep sb from escaping you, but you can't make sure to grasp one's heart. So, overall, why the wife did all that? In the end I still didn't get convinced.

Sorry We Missed You (2019)

The sources of poverty

This film is just like a concrete example for the book 'The essence of poverty'. Why some people are struggling in life and no matter how hard they try, they just can't get rid of the situation. It's nothing about money, nothing about your foundation. It's all about mental problems and intelligence. The way people think is decisive factor. The amount of intelligence people gain about how this human world runs are the weapons.

Ultimately, I don't believe that a guy with execllent mindset and knows where to collect information will fall into such kind of predicament.

Overall, I don't think purely showing sympathy for them can change the situation in any degree. However, society still get something to do. Eduaction.

Testimony of N (2014)

Super sensational but still feeling something not right

The original book is quite normal, normal case, normal narrative, normal characters. However, this TV show is really better than the book. It seems obvious that the adaptation is a huge success. I read the novel a couple years ago. I even owned a physical book myself. Consequently, I had been reluctant to watch the adapted TV show during these years. I just can't imagine how can the weak story convert into a great TV show. As it turned out, I am still naive.

Although the show is so sensational and I tore in silence some time. I still felt that there is something not right in the show. Reviewed seriously, then I figured out the cause. There was a very strong feeling of similarity between this show and shows of Keigo Higashino and Kotaro Isaka. I've seen plots from Journey Under the Midnight Sun like the separateness of our main characters. I've seen plots from Meteor Bonds like the schemes to the wealthy and cooperations. It's just like a mixture of the formers' touching narrative and mysteries from the original book. That's why I wasn't completed conquered.

Must to say, the director was clever and knew well what the audience want.

The Bucket List (2007)

Didn't fulfill my expectation

This film has a pretty high score in Douban (8.7), then only 7.4 in IMDb. The appraise in IMDb is much more close to my own opinion. This film has a old-fashion but inspiring theme. However, I don't think the film made a well-grounded representation for it. As Jack said, the bucket list was just for fun. Crazy recreation for the wealthy. The last plot that Jack back to his daughter was pretty perfunctory. I expected more while I decided to throw a precious night on it.

A mixed feeling

Novelty it is to see a bank robbery in this series. I don't want to judge the quality of the plot, and it doesn't matter anyway. However, such kind of action-film-liked scene is not what I expected in this series. I don't want Morse become some sort of action star. I'd like to see more mysteries and reasoning and fighting against the dark.

Inevitably, I have some comments about the ending of this episode. Actually, regardless how touching the moment was, I didn't figure out what's the purpose of Joan's leaving and where did she go. Does her leaving have be arranged so that we can avoid finding that Joan and Morse become a couple in the next season? At least for me, I'm glad to see this happened. On one hand, I'm not fond of Joan, due to her affairs with both Jack and that Fraud. Consequently, I have a perception that she had a bad taste in men. On the other hand, since my first reading of Sherlock Holmes, I insist that a detective should not fall in love with someone. I don't want a detective genre converts into a romance genre.

I can see how Morse arose the love feeling for Joan which it's human nature. And I appreciate the leaving of Joan.

Endeavour: Prey (2016) Season 3, Episode 3

Bright became the hero of this episode

Several things that I never expected happened in the show. For one, the story Bright told in the wood was a flag and signpost. For two, there really was a tiger in the show and attacked the victims. For two, it was Bright who became the hero and saved the others include Morse.

It is quite surprising, this third season. Two major annoying characters changed their setting with big reversal. From now on, Mr. Bright is one of the credible mates of our justice team.

Endeavour: Arcadia (2016) Season 3, Episode 2

Should be one of the milestones

Suddenly, it became the last episode of DS Jack. More surprisingly, Jack shifted his setting of mean and stupid to reliable and bold then left with a good figure. No matter what, the leaving of a main character is profound. Stories of main line are always my cup of tea, that's why I decided to add another star for this episode.

glad but confused, a mixed story line and my mixed feeling

Yes, I can see the the cross of "The Great Gatsby" and the mixed story line is quite interested, but I still didn't get the point of the plot.

Another confusing point is Morse's feeling about he has to do the detective things? Why? How to come to that conclusion?

What surprise me most is the behaviour of Bright, kind of please me.

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious (2019)

good but can be better

The setting is very attractive, especially for me. But the storytelling is quite a few poor. It's just like someone immature who gets a great enlightenment. Anyway, I was still enlightened from some aspects. And, never consider the second season.

Jujutsu Kaisen (2020– )

Familiar feeling

The innocent guy who suddenly gains a magnificent power, the team which is composed of 2 boys and 1 girl, and the special institute which trains all kinds of geniuses. All these elements are so familiar to me. This anime is hardly described as a composition with innovation. Never mind, the spirited drama is still working for me. I'm still considering whether to watch the second season after I finished the 24 episodes of season one.

Childish corruption plot

To tell the truth, this kind of police internal corruption plot, seems very childish to me, a Chinese. Therefore despite of massive praises from others, I didn't feel special for this episode.

Still,I didn't expect the ending. It appeared that the conspiracy started from the first episode, didn't come to and end this season. The ending of the fourth episode looked like only an intense climax of that conspiracy, which makes me can't wait to start the next season. What a trick.

Don't feel right.

I just can't understand why Morse had to date with this nurse girl. I don't want to judge about her appearance. She played purely as a footy in the show. This kind of dating will indicate that even a good detective can't get rid of loneness and need some emotional supplement. Or, is this exactly what the director wanted to demonstrate?

By the way, the ending of this episode is fairly romantic. The beauty died, the family last. Not bad.

Endeavour: Nocturne (2014) Season 2, Episode 2

a good combination

It's quite interesting to see a horror scene in this kind of solemn series. Such a thriller genre can elegantly demonstrate the boldness and determination of a detective which is absolutely to my will.

However, still don't want this kind of scene show up too often, considering I watch this series while I'm doing the rowing machine. Also, what I want is a detective story, not a pure thriller.

cheer up

Morse came back. Expectedly. In fact, I have no idea about gunshot would. Therefore I lost some degree of empathy for what Morse behaved.

However, the scene was still good, and Morse was still blue. That's enough for me to keep enjoying.

The last scene meant a huge conspiracy? A mole in the department? Unfortunately, that is something I'm indifferent to.

My new detective collection!

Actually, I'm not a fan of opera. Therefore at the beginning, this show seemed quite normal to me. The plots are also hard to be brilliant.

However, Shaun just performed so well and he successfully built a good detective, which is so rare for me for many years.

And not only that, the theme music play by Barrington Pheloung fit Constable Morse perfectly. After the last scene of the first season, I didn't lose one minute to looking for the music and download it.

There are still 7 seasons left for me. Luck!!!
