Glee: The 3D Concert Movie (2011)
Very disappointed!
I thought I was going to watch a glee concert in 3D but instead I saw parts of a concert with three back stories. I understand Glee has made a huge difference in the lives of many but this movie was really about the fans.
Some of the fans were in the movie more than the characters were.
Some of the best songs were not included.
On the plus side, the Warbler's set was awesome and so was Rachel. Watching it in 3D made it feel like you were at the concert.
The music was out of sync with the lip syncing and at times the music was too loud to hear the voices.
Not worth the extra money to see. I wish I would have read reviews before I went because I would not have gone to see it.
Charlie St. Cloud (2010)
Great movie but a little confusing
After reading the book (which was amazing) I could not wait to see the movie. Zac Efron proved he could be a serious actor and was excellent in the roll of Charlie. The movie itself was well cast. The only disappointment was how far it deviated from the book. They left out several incredible scenes which might have made a difference in clarifying events. They left out the actual storm and Tess's journey through it and why she decided to to back to visit her father's grave; they left out the part where Charlie and Tess were on a date and Sam kept hanging around to watch (would have shown more of Sam's comedic character); they left out how Tess could finally see Sam, leaving the reader to question "how." They also left out a crucial scene where Tess goes back to her mother's house to see everyone........it would have been a better scene than the high school graduation scene. They also should have filmed it in New England instead of the Pacific Coast.......it would have made the Red Socks fan idea more realistic. All in all the movie was great and I was able to follow it because I read the book but the person I went with did not read the book and had a bit of difficultly and had several questions at the end.
Mamma Mia! (2008)
Can't wait to see it again!
I saw the stage musical twice and was thrilled when I found out a movie was coming out! Now I can't wait for the DVD so I can watch it over and over. The movie made me want to stand up and dance it was so uplifting. It is a shame the movie came out the same day as Batman (The Dark Knight). While many movie goers prefer fast action, violence and special effects, Mama Mia was the perfect movie for me. I love the creative genius who brought songs from one artist together with a clever plot to create this all inspiring show. I absolutely want to visit Greece and see the beautiful scenery I saw in this movie and the vocals of Meryl Streep were amazing. Props to Pierce Bronson for stepping out of his comfort zone and singing and dancing.....I thought he did great. Guitar player and singer Colin Firth was also a surprise. Who knew! The movie was perfectly cast and the whole village dancing and singing scenes were so fun to watch. I left the theatre with a huge smile on my face looking for some tables to dance on!
Becoming Jane (2007)
Great movie about Jane Austen!
A great movie. Our only problem was it only appeared in one movie theater in the entire Phoenix, Arizona area....including all the other cities around it. We had to drive and hour to see this movie and it was definitely worth it. As a lover of Jane Austen's books it was great to see into the mind of such a wonderful writer. You could see bits and pieces of her own story that made it into many of her own books. I thought Ann Hathaway did a great job playing the role as well as the other characters. Worth seeing........however, sometimes the English language of the 18th century is difficult to understand especially when the actors are speaking low or too quickly.
