Disappointed
12 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge fan of Ozpetek and have purchased all of his movies; however the norm is that every actor has a down day and then directs something that just doesn't feel right to others..

I was let down; I a not saying that the film is really bad it is just dry.. too dry for such a star! He has experimented with something new and you can feel that without a doubt... I believe that Ozpetek needs to stick to what he feels is right and ensure that he gives himself enough time to think about it next time round..

The protagonist was completely bonkers and unrealistic which didn't fit into the type of filmography that Ozpetek usually delivers.. Experimenting is brave and needed in such a south spiralling world however please do not rush into your second takes, keep it shocking and Andrea Guerra ought to be recognised as well.. Keep Andrea Guerra in every film that man is a genius..! Hans Zimmer quality

SAW 2 director in need of help!!
6 November 2005
I believe that the director for SAW2 did not give us that edgy shock that was delivered in SAW. Although I feel a little disappointed with the fact that I had worked out the plot half way through the film, I still enjoyed a few edgy moments here and there..

Clever cinematography.. acting was a little bit dry; we should of had a bit more intensity with the character building..

I feel cheated of mainly because I was expecting a lot more of that shock factor that SAW brought to us last year. There were twists and twirls through the film but there seemed to be nothing more than a predictable few.

The gore and bloodshed was at an extreme level which was mostly expected of!

All in all.. worth watching..

Sensational Cinema.. Most Inspiring film I have seen in a long time
6 November 2005
I remember coming home yesterday evening rather tired and thinking to myself let's try this film.. Husband made the tea and we sat in front of the telly agreeing that we will give the film 10 mins if it's real bad then go to bed..

An hour after our agreement I was distressed; the most I could have possibly been whilst watching a film.

My husband and I sat there glued to our seats for the duration of the film we were both in tears and made no comments through the film! (there was a few gasps! and OH MY GODs! and a OH! it's J. Phoenix) Other than that I could hear my heart beat in my ears and that froggy feeling in my throat.. We watched the film in silence....

This is one of those pieces that will blow your mind, keep you on the edge.. trust me, there should be a notice given at the start of the film as to please switch off all mobiles, pull out those telephone cables and shut the doors as the next two hours of your life will be on a pause button.

Excellent masterpiece, the cast and director deserve more recognition and praise!! "BRAVO"

Cuban Turco - Che Passa?
5 October 2005
A good innovative piece of work from Turkish Cinema.. A film with the usual Turkish punch lines and sexually frustrated humour..

I believe that this is a good move towards a new generation of cinema production within the country that is diverted not only geographically but socially between the western and eastern elements of humanity..

Sans Kapiyi Kirinca - is a great example of good artistic and aesthetic cinema with a positive feel.. A simple laugh for 90 mins..

Talented cast such as Ferhan Sensoy - Tamer Karadagli and the master himself Sinan Cetin (Sinan needs to be pushed into the international category as that obviously where he belongs/ Turkish cinema needs a lot more time and nurturing before it could even be considered into Sinan's league.)

In a whole, a good laugh, excellent picture and amazing soundtrack.. This piece is for the audience similar to myself who are pessimistic over Turkish Cinema and have strong opinions about the culture and for those who want to see a Latin-Turkic mixture of Language and sociology.

AWFUL! I suggest you watch the TV mini series for the actual feel..
5 September 2005
I was absolutely looking forward to this film.. I was looking forward to Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn, had never heard of Matthew Macfayden and thought that Keira Knightley could never pull this one off...

Well after the first twenty minutes, I had been curling my toes, knocking about my knees and yawning... I did not feel the passion Darcy had no charisma and Keira Knightley always had a blank expression on her face that meant no character build up..

What a waste of money and script.. Austen must be really shaking her bones at this one...

If you are a Austen fan and want to watch the film and RELIVE the story then stick to the TV mini series (1995) .. you can buy it on DVD, after seeing this I bought it straight away... Colin Firth is the one and only Darcy, the mystery the charisma, the sexiness, huskiness can only have been COLIN FIRTH... and as for Miss Bennet the childish charm, the freshness and the genuine character was played by Jennifer Ehle..

Conclusion is... forget paying to watch this version... save your money for the popcorn and tortilla crisps and stay home for the TV mini series.. Unless of course you're a Sutherland fan...(the only reason why you would need to watch the 2005 remake)

Eyebrows must be raised
5 February 2004
I saw this film last night, and have to admit that it is most probably the only film of which I sat till then end and watched the ascending credits right to the very last second of it.

It must have been the soundtrack; or was it the magical message that Ozpetek has yet again proved to be able to send out to all his audience.

This man is a genius. He has not only broke into a culture that is discriminating in it's ways being a Turk in Italy and succeeding is one thing, but being an open and visual gay Turkish director in Italy is another. He has managed to evolve around the barriers and bring back life to the now fading Italian cinema.

The performance of the actors are remarkable, the camera angles and soundtrack complete it. A must see if you need to watch something original and fresh. Ladies bring those tissues, you will be needing them. Men it will get you thinking...

Ozpetek } CONGRATULATIONS!!!

RADIO RAPTUS INTERNATIONAL
3 January 2004
I am not Italian, however have watched the film and enjoyed it. I lived in Italy for several years and had the opportunity to observe the culture and the people of different regions.

I am a great Accorsi fan and have watched most of the films he has been involved with, I have to add that he is an underrated actor and ought to be hitting it high by becoming internationally based.

The film RadioFreccia reflects the true lives of the young italians living in the north of the country at that time as well as today. With the effects of religion, politics, unemployment and social exclusion the country seems to be cornering the young italians in exactly this way. There is nothing for them to do.. Hence the communist movement among the Northern Younger generation: drugs, assault, violence, sexuality, drug abuse, satanic rituals are amongst the daily lives of these people. Emilio Reggio being the heart of these acts.

Parallel to this the film represents the obstacles that young italians face; the family pressure and the religion.

I stand up and applaud Ligabue for magnificent and accurate storytelling

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HOLLYWOOD
12 October 2003
First I had to sit through the Italian Job with patience trying my best not to let the Hollywoodised version get to me.. (I thought it was crap), then there was the ring... and the ruthless hollywoodised version of that.. now there is welcome to collinwood.. another European film that is a classic for Italian cinema... (what got to me most was that there is only one phrase at the end of the credits that quotes the original title of the film)

Oooh I know.. why dont they try "the wicker man" that will be a good seller too...

Hollywood sux... I can see an ENRON 2 on its way....

Express to Malta.. not Istanbul!
20 September 2003
What a loada Bull***t.. I am utterly disgusted with the motive and propaganda that is messaged through this movie. Can you believe that the film was meant to be set in Istanbul/Turkey yet there is not one single Turkish actor in the film?????

I do speak Turkish, but found it impossible to understand most of the spoken language (that which was meant to be Turkish). Most actors were speaking Italian.

However thumbs up to the actors that persuaded all us - the audience to believe that it was an appropriate setting most suitable for the western world stereotyping of Turkey.

But for those of you that have never been to Istanbul.. ha ha ha.. you honestly do not know what you are missing out on....

Absurd, hilarious and strongly significant
20 February 2003
Amazing..

A film that has a crucial twist to what is happening in Israel today.

Two tribes at each others throat. However this isn't your usual mainstream war type, social issues, machine gun shoot type film. This is a film of quality..

Scenes are cut, a lot is left for the audience to tie up and conclude.. Directing at its best.

Powerful visions and photography.

You'll laugh.. but as the scene stays fix on the sketch.. you start thinking of the REAL message the director is giving you and believe you stop laughing.

I will definitely watch it again..

the balloon, the football, the Palestinian lady walking past and creating havoc to the Israeli border, the scene with the hands... all sketches that are unforgettable! Very symbolic...

What a great movie..

Watch it over and over again.... it grows on you ...Mum loves it... I love it.. the kids'll love it..

comments that pop up in our xmas gatherings.. The "Ni" word just works great.

And those who say the ending was a total let down..don't get the whole Monty Python humour.. and shouldn't regard themselves as part of it.

A CROSS BETWEEN RING - CRADLE OF FEAR
21 November 2002
Whoah.. DOn't get me wrong ... I so badly think Stephen Dorff is great looking along with his fantastic acting.

But this one gets to me.... Hollywood needs to sort its plots out.. Nothing original yet!

I suggest you watch cradle of fear for gore and horror and ring for the whole idea.... It's defiently a cross between.

LONDON AT ITS BEST
2 November 2002
After watching 28 days later, I don't think you'll ever look at the Big Ben or St Pauls like ever before.. the film brought a whole new sensation to London.

I actually really enjoyed the film.. It is something different compared to all the slasher films we see with west coast nasal american or european voices and squeeches.

Well done to Danny "Trainspotting" Boyle and Alex "The Beach" Garland They did it again!
