Studio City (2019)
Great Show with Fantastic Acting
If you have been looking for a new TV show to watch, look no further than The Emmy Award winning series, Studio City on Amazon Prime. The series' season 2 recently dropped on Amazon Prime and we cannot have enough of it! The first season hit the screens in 2019 and after about a three year gap, we finally got the season 2 of this spectacular show. Although the Emmy Winning Show's new season only consists of six episodes but captivating, you'll find yourself binge watching every single episode.
Studio City is star-studded with exceptionally talented actors. The cast of the show includes Sean Kannan, Erin Michelle Soto, Tristan Rogers, Phillip V. Bruenn, Juliet Vega, and Will Roberts are among many other incredible performers.
While watching season 2, I was extremely impressed by Will Roberts and his performance as the character of Dennis. Dennis actually stood out in the crowd and even though Roberts' character appears only in the second season so far, he makes a great impact on the rest of the characters. His chemistry with rest of the cast is just unmatchable to any other. The tension is very noticeable in every scene that requires to have some tension in the room and that is exactly what we love to see! We have seen Roberts act before in many infamous and well-known shows such Netflix's The Killer. Honestly, we cannot wait to see more of Will Roberts in action hopefully in the upcoming seasons of the show or in a completely different character in a very different because let's be real; we know that the man can do it all! It is undoubtable that all the actors in season two have done an outstanding job but Dennis is the one that really stole the show this time around. Apart from that, we have always been a fan of Kanan's acting notably in the 3rd installment of the Karate Kid series and obviously in Studio City. However, it is unbelievable how much impact a single character can have on a show and we must say; it was the character of Dennis that really did it in this one.
This season 2 of Studio City has made its way into our top favorites this season. Everything about the show in the new season is top-notch; the actors, the script, the lighting and the dialogues, it just could not have been better. But most importantly, I admire the casting choices this season. It is always great to see actors like Will Roberts shine on the big screen. Also, It is an absolute binge-worthy show in every aspect and we highly recommend you watching it.
Òran na h-Eala (2022)
Remarkable Watch
"The Red Shoes", an English classic from 1948, has endured as an unforgettable film for several decades since its release. Directors, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger made a film star out of the ever-gorgeous Moira Shearer, an up-and-coming Ballerina of the time. Her casting made perfect sense because their protagonist was also an aspiring Prima Ballerina. Moira was their ideal fit to the point of obsession. They pursued her for over a year before she finally agreed to accept the part.
The short film is just under 15 minutes long, yet it manages to touch our hearts by echoing the atmosphere of the role of Vicky Page and comparing it expressionistically to the very woman who brought her to life on the screen. Playing that pivotal role of Moira Shearer is Shannon Davidson, who seems to embody the character totally.
The use of mirror shots allows the audience to share her memories, reflecting on each moment with her. The theatrical lighting and stylized cinematography add to the dreamlike quality of the piece, achieving an authentic period look reminiscent of the original three strip Technicolor film.
"The Red Shoes" was a huge success at the time and went on to win Oscars, but Moira's struggle to choose between her passion for the world of ballet or the allure of cinema stardom, is what propels writer / director Steve Exeter's "Òran na h-Eala" making it one of the most vital short films of 2022.
