Happy Feet Two (2011)
Level of awesomeness: Crustacean
I LOVED the original Happy Feet (I gave it score 10/10), so I went to see this sequel with BIG expectation. Simply said, it didn't deliver. The feeling was too different, at a point I even thought that it might had been directed by different people. The songs (which was one the of the many reasons I loved the original Happy Feet) were terrible, the premise neither strong or clear enough, and the first 5 minutes introduction failed to capture the heart of the original Happy Feet. The crustacean part seems to be more of a meaningless filler that has nothing to do with the plot, annoying to say the least. They tried to be funny with it, but the result is far from succeeded. The black and white scenes to picture human-related flashback was badly executed and felt misplaced. I said it but I say it again: the songs were dull and not catchy. The kids were cute but not comparable to little Mumble and little Gloria. The overall atmosphere were gloomy (despite the humorous attempt) and heavy. The first Happy Feet also has gloominess and a certain heaviness to it, but those came much later. And even while in uncertainty, the original Happy Feet managed to stay fun and light. I must say that the sequel's missing the heart of the prequel.
Legend of the Seeker: Princess (2010)
Wonderfully placed intermezzo
Second season started with a BANG, and felt dark in overall - much, much darker than the 1st Season. The "darkness" atmosphere continued non-stop right up to episode 10, it's almost tiring to watch (even more when you see it on DVD in a marathon like me). Last episode "Torn" was somewhat 'light' and thought provoking, a nice change of pace. But "Princess" was truly felt as a breathe of fresh air after a continuity of a tiring, non-stop full action. It was a much needed intermezzo! Cara has been my favorite character and in this episode she stole the screen away from both Richard and Zedd with her mighty interpretation of a 'Mord-Sith going Princess' style.
This episode serves no purpose at all to the overall plot, but this was by far the most entertaining episode out of all the 2nd Season. Zedd's creepiness had increased tenfold, Richard's cuteness was up twice, and Cara's level of awesomeness was just... well, the same, really. Because she's always awesome in every episode.
Believe me, I lol'd more in this episode than all the first season combined.
The Three Musketeers (2011)
Pure entertainment
Take this from a woman who's in her 20s, afraid of blood and never read the actual story of this title.
I found the movie great! It satisfied my expectation and my need of entertainment!! Perfectly cast, everything from the musketeers to the silly King and the cute Queen. The acting were superb, the scripts were absolutely cheesy but somewhat expected from this kind of genre. I have no complaints whatsoever =D The fight scenes were fun and guess what: NO BLOOD!! That was like - perfect for me!!! The sight of blood was pretty rare throughout the movie =D it makes it watchable for a faint-hearted like me. (It also explains why it has better score from the female audience - check the vote statistic - Well, that AND the gorgeous main casts) The sequence didn't feel rushed, the music's just right, and there were more than enough humor inserted in every scene (light and tasteful humor, not the raw ones). This is the kind of movie which I'd gladly buy the DVD even after I watched it in the cinema.
