Wonka (2023)
a double huh!!
I don't expect to enjoy this movie that much, but turns out this is became my favorite movie this year. The plot was predictable and simple, i feel like for this one the problem isn't complicated enough and wonka seems too naive, yet somewhat it what makes it feels really special. It is very different from the previous two movies, and it is refreshing but still feels nostalgic. I was laughing, and crying (of course) and i usually find musical movies boring, but i love every single song here. Timothee and those other great actors hit those note delicately. My inner child was filled with so much happiness. Overall it's a perfect holiday movie.
Gadis Kretek (2023)
Indonesia NEED this kind of entertaiment
I must say, as an indonesian i never watch series from my country, cause it's always be the same. But this is so refreshing. Every aspect just hit the right spot. The actors is top notch, they all nailed their characters. The setting was perfect, the plot was full of plot twist. For you who doesn't like crying over a series, this isn't for you, cause i'm bawling my eyes out all the time. Though i must say i'm not 100% satisfied. The character and chemistry building was so perfect, and the pace was too fast. It's just feel like there are so much potential they can explore here. I tell you 5 EPISODE WASN'T ENOUGH!!
Oppenheimer (2023)
now i am becoming death
Like other Nolan's movie ;
it's not for everyone. If you aren't willing to be forced to think for 3 hours straight, this movie aren't gonna suit you.
Though it's a historical movie about inventing the atomic bomb in world war, it's totally different from "dunkirk." there's a lot of debates and trial, so it's more political than i thought it would be.
Nolan said the audience will able to feel the explosion through the screen. Well, it's loud enough to gave me a new and intense experience that i never had. (girl beside me was covering her ears all the time)
the cinematography was great as always. Though the best experience is on imax, but they're not provide any of it here. I guess that's why the screen isn't fully filled but no big deal.
Also, you already know Cillian would totally rocks his role. This man just *chef's kiss*
1899 (2022)
why netflix why?
Someone tell me why the hell all of the series that's been highly exciting me is getting canceled?
I had a high hope on "1899" because i watched barak odar's previous work "dark" and it became one of the best series i've ever watch. And so far this series has satisfied me and my passion for time travel. It has the same vibe, pattern and all of those symbol or elements like "dark". Also this series is really pleasing the polyglot out there, who else mix 5 different language at one? The plot is so intriguing even it built slow at the first couple of episode. But now that i'm really into it, i really need an ending to all this simulation games.
Well i guess we'll never know what the ending are now. It really is a huge disappointment netflix.
Stranger Things: Chapter Four: Dear Billy (2022)
if only could, i'd make a deal with god
SEASON 4 EPISODE 4 IS SO GODDAMN GOOD ISTG
it is the best (so far) , prolly it's gonna be my favorite episode among all. Nothing can beat the tension here, it really had a grip on me. Makes my heart racing while bursting into tears at the same time.
Dune (2021)
Lisan al Gaib
Firstly, i want to say that i haven't read the book nor watch the very first movie yet. So this is purely came from someone who has no idea what is "dune" about. Tbh, when i saw the trailer i got really excited. The cast is *chef's kiss* there's nothing better to watch chalamet and zendaya in one screen. I immediately believe this is going to be a great movie. And it is a good movie, but not that great. I mean yes it gave me a fresh perspective of what's called a sci-fi. I never watch sci-fi that has such a unique concept, it is modern but ancient at the same time. I feel like it takes a lot of inspiration from arabic culture (maybe because it take places on the desert) oh and the back sound often give me chills. But still it doesn't satisfied my expectation. There is something missing. My main problem is the plot. Filled with those complicated names doesn't match with such a simple easy to predict story. I have to repeat some scene just to understand who's they refering to.
Call Me by Your Name (2017)
Call me by your name, and i'll call you by mine
This is the best romance movie i've ever watch. Period.
