The Curse (2023– )

So real!
19 January 2024
This is great, typical that some people are missing the point and giving it a low rating. This is what interesting television is all about. People are using the word cringey to describe some scenes but I think this show examines and demonstrates how so much television that we think is reality is staged. Emma Stone as always is fantastic, I love that she is really taking on some interesting roles and she completely nails this character. All the cast are great and it's an interesting premise. I think this will have a tough time getting its deserved audience because it's too clever. That seems to happen with many well written , non formulaic shows.

Frasier (2023– )

Beyond awful
16 October 2023
There was no need for this reboot at all. I loved Cheers and loved the Frasier character. The show Frasier ( the good one ) was brilliant, so clever, funny, consistent. It was well written, was made for people who appreciated witty banter.

This reboot is absolutely awful, not funny, and the dialogue is not true to the original show at all. The nephew character is so annoying, Freddie is just painful, the British colleague is an idiot. The laugh track is not realistic at all, the laughter is so obviously fake. I think the rest of the cast seriously dodged a huge bullet by not being cast in this. What a shame to take a brilliant show and reboot it in such an awful way. Embarrassing ...

Could have been more realistic

Good premise but Jackman really over acted this. I'm sure that was the direction, I can imagine his grief, his frustration but he was way too explosive, he came across as bonkers.

Also, why don't detectives ever call for back up?

I thought Jake was good but way too lone wolf. Was unrealistic I thought.

I had heard only great things about this film, I also thought it could have been edited better. Glad I saw it finally but not a film I would ever need to see again. Viola Davis was perfect as she always is, she just nails every character she portrays. She came across as grief stricken but sane. I'm not sure why this film is getting 10/10 scores.

Going downhill fast
9 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So I started watching this when the first two episodes came out, showed some promise although some of the story felt forced and the acting seemed a little amateur. Just finished two more episodes and that will be enough for me. I've completely lost interest and that's due to the really poor writing. The story doesn't seem believable at all and the acting has gotten really bad, very forced. The CGI of the grizzly at the end of episode 4 was absolutely terrible and that whole scene with the arrest was so amateur. What a shame, this show had promise and now it's like a typical low budget Canadian produced drama from the 70s or 80s.

Over the top attempt at comedy - big let down
20 November 2022
This had the potential to be a funny film, instead I found myself kind of disgusted by some of the characters actions and dialogue. Very little was believable and some characters were really quite horrible, self absorbed, whiners. I know films are meant to exaggerate or be farcical sometimes but the situations these characters were in were so over the top it really made no sense. I wanted to root for at least one character but really didn't, none were that interesting and few had any redeeming qualities. Many reviewers commented on the location, I have to agree. London is a beautiful city and the best thing about the film is that it was mostly shot there.

I tried to like this ...

What a waste of time. Thin characters. No compelling reason to watch this drivel. I'm tired of seeing transgender actors / actresses in movies for the sake of it.

I'm gay. I'm 56, out since 1986, this film almost inspired me to go back in the closet.

Why such angst. I am over the soap box Susie characters thinking they're doing gay men and women a favour by being militant. They're not.

I'd rather see straight actors play interesting well written gay characters then LBQGT two spirited people acting in these horribly written films.

Broken Hearts Club was far more relatable to me then Bros. Which was completely unrealistic and such a disappointment.

Seriously ???

Oh brother, another ridiculous disaster movie. Gerard, come on, you can do better! So many plot holes and ridiculous circumstances. This felt like a made for tv film circa 1978. So over the top and actually laughable when I'm sure it was meant to be really serious. Waste of two hours.

Was not sold ...

Warning: Spoilers
Great premise although nothing original. I didn't find it realistic though. Jacob gets charged with first degree murder based on a fingerprint... seriously. No witness, no motive, no weapon. I thought you were innocent until proven guilty. I knife gets found in the woods but the focus is all on a fingerprint. How did they trace the fingerprint to Jacob? Did all the kids get fingerprinted. Major plot holes that ruined it for me ...

I'm torn after watching season 2
25 April 2020
I was absolutely blown away by season 1, 10 stars. amazing characters, fantastic writing, season 1 was perfection. I enjoyed much of season 2 but..I could have done with out the psychiatrist character, completely unbelievable and it felt like the character was just way too over the top and not believable and i think his character was so annoying and horrible that it detracted from season 2, he wasn't as annoying in season 1. Also, the Brian character which you sort of felt sorry for in season 1 turned out to be really horrible as well. His character i guess was written to make you feel awkward but the character just didn't feel true to the show. Everyone else was was as usual fantastic. If there is a season 3 i hope both Brian and Psychiatrist are not featured so prominently. Overall though really amazing writing and acting.
