The Father (2020)
Unmatched acting
A journey through the mind of a demented gentleman. I can't even begin to explain how brilliantly the script was written, making us feel what he feels and see what he sees. Go through confusion, doubt and paranoid thoughts. Sir Anthony Hopkins' performance was really unmatched. A wonderful, painful movie especially if you live with someone with dementia.
Come As You Are (2019)
Come as you'll have fun
A very light, passionate movie about 3 friends with different disabilities in pursue of exploration of a world they only heard of. A trip full of joy, deep insight into life and what really matters. I've enjoyed it much. Lovely cast and beautiful screenplay.
Old (2021)
OLD but no wiser ..
I don't know why I keep on having faith that Shyamalan's next movie will be big hit. I guess it's the sixth sense curse. Again, another mediocre movie with an average plot that builds up to good sometimes but I kept having my fingers crossed that ,please God let it have a nice plot twist in the end. Which was good-ish at its best.
Acting was lousy, cinematography was average. Overall, ill be really looking forward to his next big success. Damn the sixth sense curse. 😆
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Not impressed
You go in with a fantasy of the finest nostalgic flick of the best fight game of all time, but u end up with a mere display of characters with some CGI and zero plot that you would think would make that movie standout.
I can't forgive them for not using MK theme in any of tjefighys.
The cast weren't bad but the lead character is pretty lame.
One Day (2011)
Love works in mysterious ways
One day is a lovely , heart soothing movie about the tough roads that leads to love. Some have it the easy way and some ,like in this movie, have to go through all the hardships and tests but eventually shows you that fate can force the universe to bring lovers together. Anne hathaway as always was gorgeous with honest and growing performance. That was written for her as years go by in the movie.
The Sessions (2012)
A true story about filtered love
It's always nice to watch a movie that takes you on a ride beyond norms, a ride that shows you how human spirit can be glamorous when it's touched by pure and filtered love. The movie takes on to mark's journey to find the sexual sensation for the first time, but through that journey every body in the story are deeply affected by his life ideation. The way the movie portrays sex and how its enveloped with love is just remarkable. Absolutely fantastic acting by John Hawkesbury and Helen hunt.
This Is Where I Leave You (2014)
Families can be boring .... or that !!
I have to say that I really enjoyed this movie. A beautiful cast that blends to form this -definitely interesting- family with a lovely mix of love and tension that is well built based on their backgrounds.
It delivers the message that nobody's perfect and that life goes on no matter what.
I dont think Adam driver was the best for this role, but everybody else were just so lovely and made you feel you were part of the family.
Chocolat (2000)
Ingredients for a lovely movie ..
Juliette Binoche's smile , hint of chocolat and a delightful soundtrack.... Bon appetite!
The Dissident (2020)
A painful work of art against Tyrany
An amazing documentary of one of the dark times of modern human history, where power and wealths can rule over humanity. But with such movies, documenting the truth then it will never be forgotten and history doesn't forgive, justice will prevail in the end.
Salut to Jamal khashoggi, you were honoured to die for the greatest cause of all, freedom of speech..freedom to live as humans.
The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2016)
The book of missing pages
A build up of characters and events in a movie is the most important part of movie making. Unfortunately the movie failed to do so , it looked like random jumps in the story to reach a plot twist that the movie makers thought was attractive which was totally NOT.
Sudeikis and Williams were good though maisie Williams British accent was unaccounted for.
Now that I think about , I should give it 4/10 but I'm too lazy to go back and change my initial rating.
The Public (2018)
So who are the PUBLIC?
This movie answers that very straight forward question. Are they the people who look like you or how you want them to look like?! Or is it actually every single human around you who still have rights, emotions and thriving to live despite the harsh reality of their lives.
This movie beautifully portrays all of that in one of the largest foundations in the U.S which are the public libraries and the Great effort they provide for the " public". I loved the acting, the rhythm and the grand finale with a standing ovation as it connects all the strings together and delivers the song of hope and a "bright sunny day".
The Prom (2020)
Meryl streep.. meryl streep
Meryl streep, meryl streep, meryl streep ... this woman can do just anything. James corden did a really good job. Wished Nicole kidman had a more significant role in the movie.
As a musical flick , its fun to watch , choreography was good but nothing stuck in my mind at the end of the movie.
Other People (2016)
Smooth and outstanding
Waves of emotions just come to hit you throughout the movie. You feel like you're a member of the family going through what they're experiencing. AMAZING performance by Molly Shannon and jesse plemons.
Highly recommended.
Thanks for Sharing (2012)
You're most welcome
The story of humans backing up each other, in a life that can hit you so hard and all the defense you have is the person standing next to you. The movie talks about a real issue which is sex addiction and portrays it with its falls and triumphs and delivers the message that nobody is perfect or immune. I really enjoyed the cast and their success in delivering the mix of emotions that this subject entails.
Dan in Real Life (2007)
How to keep a smile throughout a movie 🙂
I haven't seen a movie for a while that left me with a smile on my fac
This movie has a familiar plot line but with a cast that simply made it fascinating. It focuses on the beauty of love, warmth of families, then moves on to extremely locked on, complex situations, all weaved in a thread of light comedy, great acting and deeply meaningful moments of life and focusing on what really matters in life.
I just gave it 9/10 because the 10/10 movie hasn't been created yet!!
Leap of Faith (1992)
Have faith in Steve !
A lovely piece by the one and only Steve Martin that leaves you happy and smiling at the end of it. A story of a con man who's using the word of God and soulful music to enchant people. The movie beautifully and hilariously delivers to us this world, but sneaks in that grand message about how " God works in mysterious ways ". Highly recommend the this movie by the master comedian Mr. Steve Martin
Something the Lord Made (2004)
The title says it all ..
I'd like to say that I'm a cardiologist and it was the first time for me to know the details about how these two minds collaborated in creating the Impossible. The movie portrays the "detested" friendship that became necessary in a time of racism. But their brilliance and entrepreneurship forced respect and acknowledgment. I really admire the humbled character of Dr.vivien and his tolerance of staying in the shadows for all these years but to see how he realized that he wasn't craving honorship by others, but rather he sought his life's work where he found pleasure in providing help for patients and doctors. I'm glad I discovered that very interesting part of medical and human history
Mr. Church (2016)
The key is JAZZ !
A story of friendship, building up to turn into a proper definition of a family. The movie is about offering love to others and save their lives, but in the process, your life gets saved in return. A really beautiful cast, who bring meaning and depth to this lovely movie. And as it goes ... " the key is Jazz"
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018)
Such a delicious pie
A sweet, heart soothing tale about friendship, love, sacrifice and the journey one might have to go through, to bring happiness to your soul. These emotions were housed by the glamour of the British country side, where a group of friends find their way to heal from the deep wounds of war and the loss of their loved ones, to find the shelter in their book club.
And as the main character said " the war didn't end for these people". A lovely performance by lily James indeed.
All About Nina (2018)
Mary winstead ... astounding performance!!
This movie gets its grandeur from a misery trip in the soul of a comedian. Walls and walls built so that she can put a smiley face and entertain people. Mary winstead has outdone herself, all the way from that beautiful smile of hers to crying her heart out. She really could deliver all the mixed emotions to us with perfection. I'd give this movie a HAIL MARY ... WINSTEAD
Three Christs (2017)
Heart felt true story
Starting with a captivating title and moving on to true events about early years of psychotherapy and defying the norms, and the evolution of doctor-patient relationship. This was a lovely portrayed peace of psychiatry history. I have to commend the alpha level of acting from everybody in the movie as it was filled with emotions of success, disappointment, fear with hope and belief in one's vision. An enjoyable movie indeed
Love Wedding Repeat (2020)
Have a few laughs while in lockdown
Now that's a nice, light rom com. Grab a glass of red wine and some side crackers and enjoy this movie with a lovely cast especially the stunning Olivia munn and a well written comedy.
