Fleabag (2016)
Realistically Well-written
"Fleabag" starts with an approach of being a drama that centers around telling a story of a pessimist protagonist. Although it's not wrong to assume such, but as the story develops, it successfully connects to the world of the character with the audience very well making it an interactive session where it implies that the story is not uncontrollable by the viewers.
Best part of the drama is that the characters are not solely based on people around us, neither they're imaginative. It has the essence of being the people we perceive as from our own point of views, people how we see as they portray. Not completely themselves, not completely our self-built impression about them.
It teaches us that story can be told from both a first person view and at the same time, from the flawed sense of our views.
Well written, acted and executed. Good watch!
The Menu (2022)
Not an ordinary thriller
When we see an usual statement based cinema, we expect it to be only about the lesson or the satire that the cinema is provoking. But "The Menu" stated the story with something different. It indulged with a general thrilling attributes. The way it introduced it's original intension - the transition was smooth and up to the mark.
But it hit with the climax too soon without putting much efforts in it. Could be a longer story with better character development and more ingredients to it.
It was satisfying to see even the antis in the story. But making a statement based cinema with traditional thriller approach was quite a bold move. Good cinema in the end.
Karagar (2022)
A Milestone in Bengali OTT
It is safe to say that it was a "Successful attempt" of creating a proper story-based mystery drama. There was a decent plot, good colouring, amazing direction, mention-worthy acting and most importantly, it's a major breakthrough for Bengali OTT for its uniqueness in every aspect that it holds.
X-Ray: Selected Satyajit Shorts (2021)
A good work in cinematography
Late Satyajit Ray is still one of the most prominent and 'Ahead of his time' storyteller and film-maker. His stories had some unorthodox themes, with complete entertainment. Cinemization of his selected stories must have been hard for the directors, yet they managed to deliver these with some good cinematography works. Srijit Mukharjee deserves a notable mention for his works in this series.
