A Dream of Christmas (2016)
A heartwarming film to watch
It was indeed a heartwarming film that makes you just want to snuggle with your loved ones while you watch. Every now and then, I'm in the mood of watching light and feel-good movies to get in touch with the season and Hallmark movies does the trick!
The concept of someone waking up in a different reality only to find out that you wanted things back to the way they were before adds intricacy to the story and it made me want to continue to watch until the end and hope for a happy ending!
The actors were believable and I felt the chemistry between Stu and Penny. One other strong point of the movie is the wonderfully set stage design and decors. The lights and colors are enchanting. It definitely brings in the joy of Christmas!
Overall, I rate it a solid 8/10 and I fully recommend it to everyone who are trying to get to the Christmas Spirit.
Burning Blue (2013)
What a true Gem! Deserves a 10/10 rating
Burning Blue is a true Gem and I wish that more people would get to watch it. The way they handled the DADT in the storyline was carefully done and did not need excessive sexual scenes just to bring their point across. I finished watching the movie realizing the injustice that DADT policy has done to well qualified military men but got discharge purely for the basis of being gay.. It is cruel and so unAmerican to say the least...
I watched the movie multiple times already and I can tell that the casts had great chemistry with each other. I do agree with what others said that there should have been more screentime for Dan and Matt's budding relationship. It just seemed too abrupt. Although for me, that didn't take away the overall value of the movie because after all, it was the DADT era. I'm sure there are much worse real life story out there where they could not profess their love at all.
To end, the biggest strengths of the movie are the extremely talented casts, fluid cinematography, good storytelling and clean transitional cues. If you want to bear witness to pure but painful love that is executed perfectly, this is the movie for you. But if you're looking for a movie with mindless sex scenes, you're better off watching something else. I think this movie is about love first, acceptance second and sexual gratification last.
