Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
The Undisputed Best
IF the existence of the Star Trek canon has had an important role in you entertainment experience, and
IF you value clean, non-woke storytelling with real diverse characters that you care about giving their fate significant weight and finally IF you were alive for the entire existence of Star Trek then the only "logical" rating for "The Wrath of Kahn" is an unmistakable 10/10.
This film is one that easily stands up against time, new development in special effects and efforts to include a diverse cast while compromising the story or Star Trek canon.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Why?
Why? Yes. I know the answer. They produced this embarrassment to milk a little bit more cash out of a true classic. I rated this movie a "1" only because zero isn't an option. "Halloween" spawned and defined a generation of slasher flicks that tried (and usually failed) to live up to its own expectations. I'm highly disappointed that John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis even participated in this ridiculous exhibition that wasn't even clever enough to be a parody of a classic horror movie. If you have never seen any of the "Halloween" movies, watch the original. Then watch the episode of the Netflix's "The Movies That Made Us" that to gain further appreciation of what Carpenter and company accomplished back in 1978. Then move on with your life.
The Fugitive (2020)
Seriously don't take this seriously...
Treat this like "Naked Gun" or "Hot Fuzz" and it's actually good for some belly laughs! Kiefer's character is hysterical! You can't blame acting when the writing is this ridiculous. I loved the principal at the elementary school who says "The school psychologist is out sick and I'm not trained for this..." Most principals have experienced a kid or two before they get hired; just saying.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Wish I Could Binge Watch
It is almost cruel to trickle something this good out one Thursday at a time! The first episode has combined elements from many successful movie and TV endeavors (not all of them involving the Trek Universe). I can't wait to see the story take shape and be reintroduced to our favorite TNG characters along the way.
