Above Suspicion (2000)
One to keep you guessing
The story for this film was a good idea, but it seemed to me that there was just something lacking, perhaps more attention to detail could have been employed. The main character was believable but the relationship between him and his wife was very flat. There was just no chemistry between the actors and I never believed for one moment that the wife loved the husband. Shame really, because how could you not love Scott Bakula!!
Papa's Angels (2000)
A full box of tissues used!!
A wonderful, wonderful film. Ostensibly a Christmas movie, this could be watched at any time of the year, time after time. A very moving portrayal of family life in the Appalachian Mountains in the 30's. Love is the key here, a husband's love for his wife, a father's love for a daughter and the children's love for their father. Very, very moving without being too sentimental. I defy anyone to watch it without shedding a tear or two. All the performances were first class, and it is the best thing Scott Bakula has done since Quantum Leap. Highly recommended.
Luminarias (1999)
a real feel good time was had
A very enjoyable modern comedy. The four ladies were superb and the leading man (Scott Bakula) just phenomenal. The writing was good, and the music score bright and breezy. Thoroughly entertaining. My friends and I left the cinema on a real high. The film showed modern LA life through slightly rose-tinted glasses, but I was still hooked.
