Rose Red (2002)
Stephen King pulled it off again!
5 February 2002
Is it surprising that Stephen King would roll out another excellent film? In my opinion, I don't think it was as fantastic as "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, or as horrific as "Pet Sematary" with Denise Crosby and Dale Midkiff. "Graveyard Shift" was a great movie, as well!

Being a mini-series, however, "Rose Red" was able to pull a great many things off that just cannot be accomplished in a 2-hour movie format. Kimberly J Brown was fantastic as Annie Wheaton and Kevin Tighe lended his support in a smaller role. And, of course, Stephen King's walk-on appearance as the Pizza Delivery man [ala Alfred Hitchcock] was neat. I always like to see his cameo appearances.

If you have not seen this movie, and your an avid Stephen King fan, take the time to watch it!

My Sister's Keeper (2002 TV Movie)
10/10
An Outstanding Hallmark Production!
30 January 2002
Is it surprising that Hallmark would put out anything less than excellent? And is it surprising that Kathy Bates would pull off another Oscar-Winning performance?

Kathy Bates stars as a woman diagnosed at age 16 with a schizo-effective disorder. Trying to go about a normal life is difficult for her. Elizabeth Perkins plays her younger sister, trying to lead a normal life but has always felt an obligation towards her sister. On top of this, Perkins' character finds that trying to carry on a romance is very difficult, in light of her sister's needs.

This is definitely a must-see movie! Then again, with Kathy Bates and Hallmark teamed together, how can one go wrong????

Halloween (1978)
10/10
Greatest Slasher film of all-time!
30 January 2002
I cannot believe I have waited this long to comment on my favorite horror movie of all-time!

This is a cult classic amongst horror followers! In my opinion, it supersedes the "Friday the 13th" series and the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series. In contrast to these other two, Michael Myers is the only one of the super-star villains who has not actually "died" and "come back to life", making him more "real" and believable. It is a classic in its own time!

The acting is mostly believable, aside from a few scenes [after you've seen the movie for the 84th time, you start to pick things apart]. Of course, one must acknowledge a command performance by the distinguished, late Donald Pleasance! Newcomer Jamie Lee Curtis was superb, but she had a great act to follow: her mother Janet Leigh was a fine actress in her own right!

There are, of course, the usual blunders and errors that one notices after looking closely at the film, such as going into the Wallace house; the door is at the far right corner of the front of the house, yet when a person enters the front door they can turn to the right?!?!

But all in all, it is still a super fantastic horror chiller and spine-tingler! It's sequel "Halloween II" is a fairly close second-best, but the rest of the sequels are not even worth acknowledging!!!!

Ranks as a greatest of All-Time!!!!
5 June 2000
This movie is an excellent, must-see! I think the acting is wonderful and the plot is superb!!!! As usual, Kathy Bates pulled off another great acting job and the late Jessica Tandy is as great as ever!

Even my young nieces and nephews enjoyed the movie -- especially the food fight between Idgie and Ruth at the Whistle Stop Cafe!

It is a heart-warming, clean movie about one of the most cherished gifts ever: friends! Ninny Threadgood even stated that at the end of the movie!
