Bonanza: The Honor of Cochise (1961)
Season 3, Episode 3
Bonanza: The Honor of Cochise (#3.3)(1961)
27 January 2012
This episode just ran on channel 52, and while I do like all of the Cartwrights, I watched because DeForest Kelley was featured in this episode. His performance was well worth watching, and as mentioned in the previous review, and I ,too, felt sorry for him at the end of the episode.

Usually, members of the US Cavalry were portrayed as brave and noble men. It was interesting to see a more realistic approach ; showing that sometimes, soldiers interpret their orders as they see fit and not as their superiors intended them. Also interesting to see Cochise being shown as an honorable man of his word. Not as the usual stereotypical good soldier and bad Indian.

While most of us will remember DeForest Kelley as Dr. McCoy, it is a treat to see him act in non-Star Trek television shows and movies - he really was a good actor! I met DeForest Kelley years ago, and he was very much the gentleman.

Viva Knievel! (1977)
Gene Kelly...one of his last roles.
7 September 1999
I realize that the movie was about Evil Knievel, but I was more interested in Gene Kelly. This was not the charming, debonair, singer dancer that we are used to,. Gene was a run down, alcoholic who was trying to impress a son he hadn't seen in years. Knievel starts to show off, and Gene's son looses interest in him. Gene has to work hard to regain his son's love. It was a very emotional role for Gene, I enjoyed watching him emote more than I did Knievels stunts.Lauren Hutton was an over the top, harridan of a photographer; and " love interest" for Knievel. Had Gene Kelly not been in the film, I never would have watched it. He adds dignity and strength of character to any role he plays. This was not one of Gene's better films, but it was good to see that he hadn't lost his "magic" on the screen.

Captured (1998 Video)
4/10
Michael Mahonen
24 July 1999
This is a film filled with violence and language. It is not for the faint of heart. Michael Mahonen plays Joey Breed, one of two brothers who try to steal a car from Nick Mancuso, as Holden Downs. Holden is having a bad day, and when the Breed Brothers try to steal his car...he breaks Joeys' arm with a tire iron. Rob rescues Joey and swears his will steal Holdens car.

The trouble starts when Rob goes to Holdens' house to carry out the theft. From this point on it is hard to tell who is the "good guy or the bad guy".

The plot twists and turns...and there is a surprise ending. This is not a movie to watch if you are home alone.

Michael Mahonen is my favorite actor; I wish his part had been bigger...what he did was good, and he was believable ( as always). At one point I liked him better than the "good guy" who was having his car stolen.

Hope Nick Mancuso uses Michael in more films...he was excellent in Captured.
