I was putting something light rom-com for fun and honestly I quite enjoyed it and nowhere near bad. This isn't a great film but it is really fun to watch. The writing is good enough though some jokes fall flat.
The positive aspect of the film must definitely be the cast. You can tell they were having fun with it as well. Also the cinematography and editing was a big plus as well. Jennifer Lopez absolutely stole the whole show along with Josh Duhamel. Both were pretty good with their roles. Though there were some flat jokes, it was pretty funny and entertaining.
And the big loss was the argument between Lopez and Duhamel about the big wedding thing. It was so stupid and corny. It starts off a little meh but it turns out a fun action comedy.
It's an amusing premise: the Bride and Groom have to take out a band of pirates. A couple of standout moments were the kitchen and helicopter scenes. There are also a few good 'set up and pay off' scenarios that happened throughout the film.
Though this film isn't all great and has plotholes but at least it was entertaining throughout. The loose point was the argument, how it all started but where it goes is a win, I suppose.
I was looking for a light hearted action comedy, and I'm glad I got stumbled upon this even though it was flawed. Entertaining watch.

This is no masterpiece of filmmaking but it is really fun to watch. It's okay that this movie isn't Oscar worthy. Some are just good romps.
The writing is good even though some jokes fall flat. The cinematography and editing and directing are top notch. And I absolutely needed to see so many older actresses with great comic timing: Sonia Braga, Jennifer Coolidge, D'arcy Carden.
There are plenty of great scenes and great pieces of dialogue and great performances so you can ignore the clunky, bad parts. This movie is definitely not a 10 but it's not a 5 either. 7 is my bottom rating for movies I think are watchable and fun. And this is one of those.

My sister talked me into watching this, which wasn't easy because of the two previous J-Lo movies I've seen (Maid in Manhattan and Wedding Planner), I didn't find her to have ANY chemistry with her male leads. Neither of the romances in those two movies was believable AT ALL, at least in my opinion. But, to keep the family peace, I agreed to give Shotgun Wedding a try and I'm glad I did.
This movie seems to have a lot of haters, but I liked it! Is it Oscar-worthy? No. But it's action-packed fun and Jennifer Lopez actually has great chemistry with Josh Duhamel. They are funny and sweet together and have some realistic relationship struggles along the way. The setting is beautiful, and there's some fun casting (Cheech Marin, Lenny Kravitz), and a few surprise plot twists. And did I mention action-packed? The writers really kept things moving. I enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would and will probably watch it again with my hubby.

Shotgun Wedding is a perfectly fine action comedy that knows exactly what it is and is more than happy to coast by on the solid amount of chuckles, nice backdrop and predictability of its plot. It never gets a big laugh but is still generally entertaining enough to avoid becoming boring or overly stale. It's the kind of film designed for streaming, in an inoffensive way.
Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel work well enough together. Their chemistry is solid and they can keep things going on their rapport for the majority of the run time. Jennifer Coolidge gets the right amount of screen time so she can be a fun addition who stands out in every scene without becoming too much. She is pretty much the only other memorable person in the whole cast.
Jason Moore's direction is fine, helped by the tropical setting. There's only one memorable shot and everything else is competent with the classic tropes and jokes of an action comedy executed in a fun fashion. The best moments come from the rising body count and the way they are dispatched. Pinar Toprak's score has a lot of fun with it, ensuring the proceedings stay lighthearted.

The story is predictable and not engaging; the numerous plot twists found throughout this film are just lame, incoherent and incomprehensible; and Jennifer Lopez showed us yet another of those damsels in distress who scream too much before ending up becoming badass.
But luckily, it compensates with being very funny, mocking some of the usual rom-com/action clichés and having some good (if not great) performances, especially that of Jennifer Coolidge as the groom's mother, who was just hilarious.
So overall, it's a decent movie, not horrible nor good. I had fun watching it, but not to rewatch it.
