British actor Laurence Fox has lost a libel case with two men he called pedophiles on social media after they had called the My Son Hunter star a racist.
On Monday, the High Court in the U.K. deemed that Fox had defamed Simon Blake, a former LGBT charity trustee, and Crystal, a drag artist and former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, on Twitter/X in October 2020, when he called them pedophiles over an escalating row over Black History Month.
The Guardian reports that the spat on X started, when Fox said he would boycott U.K. grocery store Sainsbury’s for supporting “racial segregation and discrimination” after the company said it would establish safe spaces for Black employees during Black History Month in October 2020. Blake and Crystal, whose real name is Colin Seymour, responded to Fox’s call for a boycott by calling him racist. Fox, in turn, replied...

RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Alaska is making a claim about Lea Michele following an interaction that happened at the Grammys in 2017.
Alaska was asked about fellow former contestant Princess Poppy showing up at the Emmys as a green goblin and the impact behind the stunt. That led into a discussion about the Lea encounter.
Keep reading to find out more…
“I just love this Princess Poppy stunt. I’ve been to a few mainstream awards show in drag. I went to the Grammys one year, because [fellow All Stars 2 contestant] Katya and I were invited. Celebrities are mortified of drag queens, because we represent the sort of facade. We pull the curtain back of the facade of what Hollywood is. We make fun of it,” Alaska said on the latest episode of the Race Chaser podcast (via EW).
“We’re aware that this is fake because we take this off at night and become a different person.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Episode 3.] No one wants to be the first queen eliminated from RuPaul’s Drag Race, but Hershii LiqCour-Jeté feels she put her “best foot forward” in her limited screen time. She also tells TV Insider that the new Rate-a-Queen system, which allows the competitors rank their favorite performances from the week but they don’t have to play fair, was not a welcome twist. “I hated it,” she says with a laugh. “I hated that the second [RuPaul] mentioned it.” The voting system is a new feature in Season 16, one that gives the drag queens the power to determine who ends up in the top and bottom two instead of host RuPaul. Mother Ru still decides who gets eliminated, but the results of the queens’ rankings determine who will lip-sync for their lives. Viewers saw Plane Jane take advantage of the system in a cutthroat way...

Do you remember when Michael Cera and Aubrey Plaza dated? Me neither. They met on the set of Scott Pilgrim vs the World and dated for a year and a half, but the pair almost took their relationship to the next level just for a gag.
Michael Cera told Rolling Stone that the couple considered getting married in Las Vegas while they were on a cross-country drive, all so they could get a quickie divorce and get to call each other ex-wife and ex-husband. “We were driving through Vegas, and we almost just spontaneously took a detour and got married,” Cera said. “I think the idea was to then get a divorce right away, so we could call each other ‘my ex-husband’ and ‘my ex-wife’ at like … 20.”
The gag marriage didn’t happen and Michael Cera and Aubrey Plaza ultimately split up, but they remain fond of one another. “We love each other,...

Long before RuPaul’s Drag Race made Emmy history by getting men in glitzy dresses, colorful wigs and fierce heels to compete to become America’s Next Drag Superstar, World of Wonder founders and maverick filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato made bold, personal movies that broke through media representation barriers to queer representation and reshaped how America looks at its LGBTQ community.
“It’s become a mission for us,” Bailey tells The Hollywood Reporter about how, with swagger and success, he and long-time collaborator Barbato followed up films like Party Monster and The Eyes of Tammy Faye and championed self-expression and visibility for drag show performers crashing through to pop stardom.
For their art and activism, Barbato and Bailey will receive THR‘s Impact Award at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival, where they will also take part in a keynote conversation led by editorial director Nekesa Mumbi Moody.

“Obviously, there’s a lot of parts of this country where people don’t feel safe so we have to band together to make people as safe as we can,” country music star Orville Peck told the audience at the WeHo Pride’s Outloud music festival on Saturday, referring to the wave of anti-trans and anti-drag legislation that is upending lives and spreading fear in states across the country, including Texas and Florida. But, noted Peck, a judge in Tennessee had just a day earlier ruled that the state’s recently passed law forbidding drag performances in public is unconstitutional, drawing cheers from the thousands in the crowd.
That scene, mixing politics, purpose and performance, was one of many similar ones that unfolded throughout the second annual WeHo Pride, held over the weekend of June 2-4 in West Hollywood, California.

Huzzah! Hulu’s sharp and satirical comedy “The Great” returned with its much anticipated third season on Friday. Some might say it’s great timing for the Tony McNamara-created show, while others might say that’s a terrible joke. But in all seriousness, all 10 episodes are now streaming, arriving on the platform just weeks before the Emmy eligibility window closes, meaning the comedy should be at the forefront of voters’ minds during the first phase of voting.
The new season sees Catherine (Best Comedy Actress nominee Elle Fanning) and Peter (Best Comedy Actor nominee Nicholas Hoult) attempt to make their wildly complicated marriage work after the former tried to murder the latter on top of imprisoning his best pals. But as Catherine’s star continues to rise, Peter won’t be faring quite as well, as he’s forced to face his own failures as Peter the Great’s (Jason Isaacs) son.

While the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards weren't held live on May 7, some of Hollywood's biggest stars still got their moment during the prerecorded show. In the lead-up to Sunday, the ceremony planned for Barker Hangar in Los Angeles was scrapped amid the Writers Guild of America strike. Host Drew Barrymore stepped back from the gig in support of the striking writers, and the decision to do without a red carpet closely followed. Heading into the weekend, it was confirmed that the event would not be held in its original form.
Still, big names accepted their popcorn trophies through video clips, including Tom Cruise, who was piloting a plane while expressing his gratitude for his win for best performance in a movie for "Top Gun: Maverick."

You knew that Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor wouldn't be able to resist taking new companion Ruby (Millie Gibson) into the past, and from the looks of new images posted by the Beeb, the pair will be showing up in the 1960s and dressed appropriately.
Much of what will happen during Gatwa's first tenure in the Tardis is under wraps for now, though we've had a hint here and there. With Russell T. Davies returning to run the show, we'll first be seeing three special episodes featuring the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate as Donna for the show's 60th anniversary.
One thing we do at least know of Gatwa's first episodes as the 15th Doctor (due around Christmas this year) is he'll be facing off against a villain played by RuPaul's Drag Race champ Jinkx Monsoon.

Gender has become a hot political topic, and drag shows have become the battleground for a conservative war against self-expression. Fire-and-brimstone-spewing lawmakers are creating legislation to shut down drag shows and penalize anyone who performs drag around children. The biggest point of contention seems to be drag events at libraries, where performers read age-appropriate books to children. While it's entirely possible that some parents are just afraid that their children will learn to read and think for themselves, they claim that drag queens are "indoctrinating" children.
There's just one massive flaw in that logic: drag performers have been around forever and have been a huge part of pop culture for decades, so why are they only a concern now?
Drag has existed for centuries but had a boom in mainstream popularity in the 1990s, popularized by Madonna's "Vogue," which brought the drag culture of New York City ballrooms into people's living rooms via MTV.

The biggest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is coming to a close April 14 on MTV. After beginning with a record-setting 16 drag queens, only four remain. Sasha Colby, Anetra, Luxx Noir London, and Mistress Isabelle Brooks will go head-to-head in the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 finale on April 14. Before the winner is crowned, the 12 eliminated queens will return to the runway for the Season 15 reunion episode on Friday, April 7. It’s been a fierce season of competition that featured a star-studded list of guest judges like Ariana Grande, Janelle Monáe, Ali Wong, Hayley Kiyoko, Harvey Guillén, Maren Morris, Julia Garner, Amandla Stenberg, Megan Stalter, and Orville Peck. With them on the judges panel were the fabulous series mainstays, queen of drag RuPaul, Seduction and S.O.U.L. S.Y.S.T.E.M. alum Michelle Visage, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy star Carson Kressley, and popular TV and media personalities Ross Mathews and Ts Madison.

There’s no room for transphobia in country music, according to Kelsea Ballerini. During Sunday’s CMT Awards, the show’s host took the stage to sing her hit “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too),” joined by a crew of drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race. The performance comes in light of a recent uptick in anti-trans legislation across the US.
Along with Ballerini, queens Jan Sport, Olivia Lux, Manila Luzon, and Kennedy Davenport sported sky-high hair and retro dresses, as they all proclaimed the song’s playfully hell-raising chorus: “If it all blows up and we end up on the news/ If you go down, I’m goin’ down too!” As the song neared its end, Ballerini took off her guitar and strutted down the catwalk with all the queens by her side, confetti billowing into the air.

We've made it, Drag Race fans! The last round of the competition is here before the grand finale.
The Top 4 queens had one final chance on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 14 to prove why they should have a spot in the grand finale.
Sure, RuPaul said only three would make it to the finale. But this is Drag Race; eliminations never truly go as planned.
"Blame It On The Edit" was an emotional yet expected round of Drag Race.
Between the music video, the choreography, and the rap verses, we knew what was in store for the queens for their video vixen moment. But even with a routine flow of events, the show still found a way to tug at all the tears.
I love a good music video challenge. Sure, it's been done to death, all the way back to the early years of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the Emmy-winning producers behind “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and co-founders of World of Wonder, have responded to the wave of anti-drag legislation being introduced by GOP lawmakers, calling it “un-American.”
Speaking with Variety over Zoom, Barbato said the bills — which are working their way through at least 11 state legislatures and threatening to restrict or prohibit drag show performances — are all part of an “insidious” campaign.
“It’s been going on and it’s orchestrated by a minority,” Barbato said. “They have been successful in these hideous laws. That same minority is threatening the civil rights of the LGBTQ+ community. They are a threat and we must take them seriously.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race is all about inside and running jokes that carry over the course of a season. Sometimes, they even carry from one season to the next. On season 15, Mistress Isabelle Brooks admitted to stealing a RuPaul book from the set, thinking that it was only a prop. However, she apologized when she discovered that it was a producer’s personal copy. In true RuPaul fashion, he always has a comeback for everything.

Lingo is on the move.
CBS has pushed the final four episodes of the RuPaul Charles-hosted quiz show’s first season to the 2023/24 season.
The show was renewed for a second season last month and those four episodes will now air as part of that run.
Lingo aired on Wednesdays at 9pm and has been replaced by repeats of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI, FBI: International and CSI: Vegas over the next four weeks.
Survivor and True Lies remain part of the Wednesday lineup.
The game sees teams of two contestants face off in fast-paced puzzle rounds to guess letters that reveal seemingly simple words. At the end of each one-hour episode, the two winning teams will make it through to a final showdown where one will walk away with an additional big cash prize.
The series, which was created by Ralph Andrews, has previously aired three versions in the U.

Italy has become the latest territory to jump on the RuPaul’s Drag Race hype.
Paramount+ has greenlit a version in the West European nation shortly after the unveiling of editions of the World of Wonder smash in Brazil, Germany and Mexico plus a Global Drag Race All Stars. The show will launch on Paramount+ in Italy before being rolled out to the U.S. and Latin America.
“Drag Race has become a global phenomenon and we were honored to be there from the beginning with the incredibly talented team of RuPaul and World of Wonder,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Showtime, MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks.
“As we expand Paramount+’s global footprint, it was important to recapture Drag Race in key international markets and also build an interconnected competition series – with a new Global Drag Race All Stars – it’s like a global Super Bowl for Drag.

Sometimes it’s “just family” on the RuPaul’s Drag Race judge’s panel. Even if Michelle Visage and RuPaul are often commenting on the queen’s charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, the other judges on this reality series are sometimes missing — including Santino Rice, who left after a cameo on season 7.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” offered ideas for several significant Walt Disney World upgrades Tuesday after Ron DeSantis signed a law that put the governance of the park’s district in the hands of Florida.
The cunning minds behind the show’s fake news alert segments rolled out a number of upgrades park visitors can expect now, including the ability for guests to hunt on the grounds — with fully scoped rifles and camouflage gear given the A-ok.
The segment began with a news reader tackling the news du jour, that DeSantis had put his pen where his mouth was and stripped Disney of its control of the Reedy Creek Improvement District that oversaw the land, infrastructure and public services in, under and around Walt Disney World.

Alan Carr has landed his first primetime quiz show for the BBC, a picture format in which contestants correctly identify images.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge is hosting Picture Slam from Ben Shephard and Ed De Burgh’s Triple Brew Media and Omg Scotland.
Teams will be presented with a board full of images that they need to correctly identify against the clock. If they clear a full board with correct answers for a ‘Picture Slam’ they’ll receive a cash bonus. Filming begins at the new Pacific Quay Studios in Glasgow later this year.

RuPaul’s Drag Race acting challenges were a significant part of the reality television competition show’s early days. They continue to hold an important place on the show, allowing the drag queen contestants to demonstrate their performance skills in a unique way. But, some longtime fans wonder if they have the opportunity to watch the finished acting challenge before critiques.

The Daytona Wind has rolled in, smelling like a sitcom.
The acting challenge separated the comedians from the casualties on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 7. Acting challenges are hit or miss because it all depends on the script's strength and which roles the queens get.
And in true Drag Race fashion, some queens benefited from their starring roles while others struggled to shine. It's just another day on the soap opera set!
"The Daytona Wind 2" was a cheeky round full of canned jokes and tense drama.
Even with the joy of having the hilarious acting challenge return, much of the focus stuck on "Metalgate." The drama overshadowed everything until it could have its natural ending, which happened pretty quickly and easily.
The most heated moment started at the top of the episode during the regroup couches. Like it was fresh on their minds, so they had to vent and get it out there.

Fashion is the name of the game on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 5.
Style and construction challenges have taken down even the most seasoned of queens. If they don't have a keen eye for fashion or the skills to create a look, they could be next walking off the main stage.
During a team challenge like this, it became clear who brought the marvel and the mess.
"House of Fashion" was an easy and breezy round that worked better with the faster 1-hour pacing.
Compared to RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 4, which felt too rushed, the momentum slowed down a touch better. We were able to engage with the queens and get more scenes of them preparing for the runway.
Part of this tone could be from the Maxi Challenge being only a construction runway.

New York Congressman George Santos has been a lightning rod of controversy since his election in November 2022, as many of his claims about his education and work history have been proven to be false. Santos’ repeated lies have earned him criticism as well as parody, as actors impersonate the New York congressman on various TV shows. HBO’s “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” as well as Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” lead the early Emmy tally heading toward TV’s big night: All three series landed five trophies during the Creative Arts Emmys, dispensed on two consecutive nights over Labor Day weekend, and are in the hunt for more high-profile prizes Sept. 12 when the 74th annual Primetime Emmy ceremony gets underway on NBC.
Variety special “Adele: One Night Only” and docuseries “The Beatles: Get Back” also scored five trophies, though they won’t figure in the Primetime Emmy ceremony. Those wins, along with the Super Bowl Lvi Halftime Show’s victory for variety special (live), led some to quip that the Creative Arts Emmys felt more like the Grammys.
Also notable: Former president Barack Obama landed his first Emmy win, as narrator (for “Our Great National Parks”), while Netflix became the first streamer to take the animated program Emmy,...
