The actors were never given the entire script during the production.
Nicolas Jaar began composing the score before the filming wrapped. Pablo Larraín listened to the score on set.
In preparation for the role, Mariana Di Girólamo took dancing lessons. She also went to ballet and Pilates classes to improve her posture and make her look like a professional dancer.
This is the third film directed by Pablo Larraín in which Gael García Bernal has starred.
