great idea that lacked in story telling

I initially thought the concept of using star scenes from various movies was brilliant. An opportunity to explore creative perspectives on the starry sky. Before watching, I imagined how the director would translate different contexts, like darkness or optimism and music to reflect the sign of the times, in a story. Unfortunately, the film disappointed me. At 2 hours and 10 minutes, it was mostly fragmented starry night scenes. The chopped up visuals and music, perhaps because of potential copyright claims, made it hard to watch. The film felt too long and lacked a strong central idea. In this form it's just starry night scenes from movies, nothing more than that.

"My God, it's full of stars" (Dave Bowman, '2001 A Space Odyssey' novelization)

In fact, to watch this Johann Lurf unique artifact is the closest experience a viewer could feel about entering a monolyth. Before the projection (almost) everything is pitch black, you could barely see a huge rectangle in front of you: that's your monolyth/dimensional door to stars, stars, and even more stars.

And it's quite an experience. A strange one, indeed, but if you are in the right mood and are not allergic to the motto "watch and feel"... then "Star" will reward you with a mesmerizing visual reset.

But it's not for everyone, quite a bunch of viewers could get easily bored: forget the word "plot" because there isn't any... Or even better, improve your own plot. It would work, for sure: the stars conjure a miriad of thoughts, and every single one of them works here.

Never in my life I've seen so many stars in this quantity during this amount of time. "Star" hacked my brain for good.

Rare and unique. I recommend it.

Best wishes, starwatchers! (We're all starwatchers, believe me)
