USA Network is returning to the legal drama arena with The Rainmaker, based on the bestselling John Grisham novel and its film adaptation. The project, from writer Michael Seitzman (Code Black), Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, has received a series order by the NBCUniversal cable network, capping a six-year journey by Seitzman to bring the book to television.
This marks USA Network’s first new scripted series in awhile as part of a planned relaunch as a destination for scripted originals. The network currently shares Chucky with Syfy, which is on the bubble for a Season 4 renewal. It also is in advanced negotiations to pick up Syfy’s Resident Alien, which, as Deadline reported exclusively, is poised to become a USA original.

Michael Seitzman will write “The Rainmaker,” having co-written the pilot with Jason Richman. Along with Grisham and Blum, executive producers include Seitzman, Richman and David Gernert.
“The Rainmaker” greenlight comes as concluded USA Network titles “Suits” and “White Collar” resurge in popularity following their additions to Netflix. The NBCUniversal-owned cabler currently only airs one scripted series, “Chucky,” which also airs on Syfy.

USA Network is reentering the scripted originals space.
The NBCUniversal-owned basic cable network has handed out a straight-to-series order for a reboot of The Rainmaker, from producers Lionsgate TV and Blumhouse TV, marking its first non-shared scripted series since 2020.
The cabler, which saw its former hits Suits and White Collar pop on Netflix, currently shares linear rights with corporate sibling Syfy to Chucky as its lone scripted series. The drama is the only scripted original to air on the network that previously ranked as the most watched cable network for a dozen years straight.
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by John Grisham and subsequent 1997 feature film adaptation starring Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Jon Voight and Danny DeVito, The Rainmaker revolves around Rudy Baylor, a fresh out of law school attorney who goes head to head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond, as well as his law school girlfriend. In May 2024, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos made a strange claim to The New York Times. Discussing "Barbenheimer," Sarandos insisted that the success of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" wasn't related to the fact that both were released in theaters and made an event out of physically going to the movies. "Both of those movies would be great for Netflix. They definitely would have enjoyed just as big an audience on Netflix," he said. That suggestion seems ... unlikely. But Sarandos wasn't done. "There's no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people," he said. "My son's an editor. He is 28 years old, and he watched 'Lawrence of Arabia' on his phone."
Leaving aside what a travesty that example is, Sarandos is simply incorrect. Many movies are, indeed, better when they're bigger, because the theatrical experience is beneficial for two main reasons. First,...

The beautiful and iconic Oscar-nominated scream queen Jennifer Tilly is about to seriously liven up the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when she joins the upcoming 14th season as a friend of Sutton Stracke, who has been on the show since season 10.
Tilly is far from the first actress to appear on Beverly Hills, but she's certainly an exciting casting addition. Long-time Beverly Hills viewers know that the actress has already appeared in a few episodes to pal around with her close friend Stracke.
Now, she's joining the show in a more official "friend of" capacity, and it sounds like she'll be featured more prominently this season. She recently retweeted a fan-taken video of her with the rest of the cast filming during a cast trip to Oceanside, California.

What connects the daughter of a pastor, a resistance leader, and a vampire hunter? They're all the same person.

The actress has been known for a variety of roles in various genres, making her a household name with both small and big screen appearances.
It's no wonder Jessica Biel has amassed six award wins and nineteen nominations, including the Critic's Choice, Golden Globes, and the Emmys.
She's dipped her toes in comedy, action, and, most significantly, drama, making a name for herself as a versatile actress who fully embodies her characters.
While not every role Jessica Biel takes turns into a smash hit, they're still each great in their own way, whether it's laughing out loud or moments that make you shout and scream.

It takes a certain caliber of actors to move seamlessly through the entertainment industry and make just enough waves while avoiding the pitfalls.
That's what Jennifer Morrison has managed to do in almost 30 years of her career.
While the actress has primarily stayed in the television lane, she's been in her fair share of films.
However, after her unforgettable role as Emma Swan, Morrison has taken up a directorial hat and is now working behind the scenes.
Don't worry, though, because we have compiled a list of some of the actress's most prolific work.
Also, for those inclined to IMDb, be sure to check out the cast list of a specific slasher entry on the list.
It's technically the only slasher movie here, but you'll still see some big names.
The actor has rubbed elbows with some of Hollywood's biggest names, so don't be surprised if you recognize her from some big-budget films and franchises.

Like the song says, "Carry on, my wayward son. There'll be peace when you are done." Well, one out of two isn't bad because Jensen Ackles has definitely carried on, but he is far from done.

While we wait to find out if Universal is bringing back “Chucky” for Season 4, Syfy has announced this week that they’re bringing the comic book Revival to the small screen.
Deadline reports today that Syfy has given a series order to the small screen adaptation, with the Revival television series set to premiere on the network sometime in 2025.
“Revival is set on one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin when the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the “revived” appear and act just like they once were. When local Officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.”

Syfy has given a series order to Revival, a drama based on the comic book series of the same name, for a 2025 debut. The announcement was part of Syfy’s upcoming slate reveal ahead of the NBCU upfront presentation Monday.
It also included Reginald the Vampire, starring Jacob Batalon, whose second season premiered May 8, and The Ark, whose second season will follow this summer.
Not mentioned in the release are the two high-end, homegrown, UCP-produced Syfy scripted series, Chucky, which it shares with USA Network, and Resident Alien. While Part 2 of Chucky‘s third season just ended its run, the future of Resident Alien is in serious limbo.

Launched back in 2021, Resident Alien starring Alan Tudyk has been nothing but a stunning success for both viewers and critics. The show introduced its third season earlier this year which, after being wrapped up by the finale released in April, has all chances to pave the show’s way further for more seasons.
Despite overall delight, Resident Alien still might face some challenges as the series now risks moving somewhere else away from its current home network.
Initially being run by NBCU’s Syfy, Resident Alien may reportedly be shifted to USA Network, the channel that right now doesn’t have any original shows airing, except for Chucky that the network shares with the same Syfy.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Resident Alien Season 3 finale, “Homecoming.”] The future of Syfy‘s beloved comedy Resident Alien is unclear. The series, which aired its Season 3 finale on April 3, has yet to be renewed for Season 4. It might experience a network change in order to save it, but that could come at a cost. Well, a decrease in cost. The powers that be at NBCUniversal are reportedly considering moving Resident Alien from Syfy to its sister channel, USA Network, according to Deadline. A fourth season at Syfy is reportedly not likely. As it stands, USA only has one scripted TV series, Chucky, and it’s shared with Syfy. If the Alan Tudyk-led comedy were to move to USA, it’s possible that its budget would be drastically reduced to as little as $500,000 per episode, Deadline reports. The production behind Resident Alien, UCP, part of Universal Studio Group, reportedly wants to keep the series...

Exclusive: A little over a month after Season 3 of Resident Alien wrapped its run on Syfy, the future of the quirky sci-fi comedy-drama is up in the air. And there is some intrigue over where the series starring Alan Tudyk would continue should it get a fourth season.
I hear there are talks about Resident Alien moving from Syfy to NBCU cable sibling USA Network, which currently doesn’t have scripted originals besides Chucky, which it shares with Syfy. According to sources, a return to Syfy appears unlikely, so USA is Resident Alien‘s only feasible destination within NBCU, whose UCP division produces the adaptation of the comic book by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse.
But a potential Season 4 pickup by USA would come with a major budget reduction, as much as $500,000 an episode, which will be challenging, I hear.

There’s something in horrors that the genre keeps attracting more and more viewers everyday. Despite all the spooky and creepy stuff, all the screams and psycho scenes, we can say for sure that it’s one of the most popular genres nowadays.
But what the audience appreciates even more is how horrors can be made… fun. Horror comedies have been in trend for a long time now, but they got really upscaled when the world was introduced to Chucky.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Snakes on a Plane was Written and Narrated by Mike Holtz, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When you go back and take a look at the movies that were released in 2006, you might think we were all high. I mean some of us were but regardless, everything was so over the top. Eli Roth’s Hostel was tearing off tourists’ clothes while slashing their Achilles’, The Hills Have Eyes remake was gnarly in every way and does anybody remember that really cool but super weird Paul Walker flick Running Scared? We were on some dark stuff back in the mid-2000s. It wasn’t just the horror and action genres, either. Comedies like Grandma’s Boy had a level of wildness to them that you don’t see these days.

Back in December, the folks at Spooky Pinball announced that they were making a very limited edition pinball machine inspired by Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. If you (like me) weren’t able to get one of those 888 machines, well, at least that wasn’t our only chance to play a Chainsaw pinball game. A while back, Zen Studios brought a horror-themed pinball game called Pinball M to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pinball M includes pinball games inspired by the likes of John Carpenter’s The Thing, the Chucky franchise, Dead by Daylight, Duke Nukem, and Zen Studios’ Lovecraft-inspired Wrath of the Elder Gods Director’s Cut – and on June 6th, it will be adding a pinball game inspired by the 2022 film Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

*Spoilers* Now that Chucky Season 3 finale has aired, I'm excited to share my chat with Brad and Fiona Dourif, who talk about sharing scenes as Charles Lee Ray, the evolution of Chucky in Season 3, and more!
It was so great to see the two of you on screen together as Charles Lee Ray. What was the experience like on set for the both of you?
Brad Dourif: I got to scold my kid. I got to tell her what to do and how she should be doing things... [Laughs] When Fiona started out, we both did auditions together. So part of it was like, "I'm back in my living room." It was very freeing and fun.
Fiona Dourif: I was nervous about it and then when we were actually shooting, it was just pure joy. I remember after we finished, I thanked Don [Mancini] from the bottom of my heart, "Thank...

With the Chucky TV series having reached the end of its current season (which is hopefully not the last), it’s crazy to think of all the insanity this character has gotten up to. What started as a serial killer inhabiting a Good Guy doll and trying to take over the body of a young boy has become a show involving the White House and launching nukes. So when I sat down with stars Brad and Fiona Dourif, I made sure to ask them about all of it. Because if we fans weren’t expecting it, I can only imagine what it’s been like for the people behind these characters.
I was also gobsmacked with the news that Mr. Dourif had quietly retired from acting. He was simply performing as Chucky as a favor for both his daughter as well as the character’s creator Don Mancini, whom he considers to be family.

Chucky season 3 just aired its finale last night – but when it comes to genre icons like Chucky, horror fans usually start asking “When is the next sequel coming?” as soon as they finish watching the most recent one… or in this case, they’re asking, “When is the next season coming?” or “Is there going to be another season at all?” Series creator Don Mancini recently said that he has already pitched the idea of Chucky season 4, but it hasn’t been officially ordered yet. But if fans want to show their support for the idea of the show being renewed, there is a way they can let the higher-ups know they want to see Chucky season 4. That came in the final moments of the finale, when Chucky took a moment to announce that he’s running for “a fourth consecutive term” and donations can be made by calling 1-...

No one is doing it like Chucky.
Syfy/USA Network’s episodic continuation of Don Mancini’s killer-doll movie franchise closed out its third season this week with the world at its fingertips. What was once a simple conceit –– what if the creepy doll from your childhood became the vessel for a serial killer’s soul –– has come into its own as a fearless show that threw caution and logic to the wind two seasons and about 100 kills ago. Now, it just lives each episode with a singular purpose: How can we make this weirder than ever before?...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Chucky” Season 3.
The “Chucky” Season 3 finale, “Final Destination,” picked up with Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur) venturing deep into the spirit realm for the sole purpose of finding where Chucky (Brad Dourif) may be hiding Lexy’s (Alyvia Alyn Lind) younger sister. As Lexy and Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson) guarded his body, Jake confronted the ghosts of his past, including many, many iterations of Chucky. That led to Jake falling straight into Chucky’s trap, with the serial killer using his counterparts to distract him while he hijacked Jake’s body.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with Arthur, Arnarson, and Lind about the season finale, where the trio discussed working with guest star John Waters and reflected on their favorite moments from the series so far.
Finding sister Caroline (Carina Battrick) has been Lexy’s primary goal this season, and her relentless pursuit has put her on the offense when it comes to Chucky.

Last night’s “Chucky” Season 3 finale closed some doors and opened several others, delivering a wildly satisfying final hour that we won’t spoil here for anyone who hasn’t been able to watch yet. On that note, the Season 3 finale is now streaming on Peacock… get on it!
The “Chucky” Season 3 finale ended with the lovable killer doll breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the fans, officially announcing that, well, he’s running for a fourth term!
In line with the season’s White House setting, Chucky’s bid for a fourth term was essentially Don Mancini’s fun way of saying he’d love to do a fourth season, but it sounds like “Chucky” fans are going to have to let their voices be heard if they share that same desire.

Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Verity is getting the Hollywood treatment.

What a whirlwind. “Chucky” Season 3 let the killer doll loose in the White House, where he unleashed multiple bloodbaths, temporarily gained control of the nuclear weapons, and even faced his greatest fear, death, along with the wrath of Damballa. The season finale, appropriately titled “Final Destination,” has a lot of ground to cover, yet Chucky (Brad Dourif) is still running amok in the spirit realm while Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) hopes for one final Hail Mary to escape death. Luckily, the super-sized episode packs in the revelations while tying up the season’s loose ends and paying tribute to the franchise’s past. It all makes for a satisfying capper to another delightfully unhinged season.
While “Final Destination” hits the ground running with explosive action, it also doesn’t waste any time exploring the aftermath of Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur) choosing to die temporarily in the hopes of finding Caroline (Carina Battrick...

The third season of Don Mancini’s “Chucky” wraps up with a super-sized final episode this Wednesday, and Syfy has provided us with a sneak peek clip to get you ready this morning.
The Season 3 finale is fittingly titled “Final Destination,” and Jake’s taking a trip to the Spirit Realm to make contact with Charles Lee Ray. His goal? To extract information about Caroline’s whereabouts and kill Chucky once and for all. Watch the clip below for a preview, which suggests that Jake’s going to have to grapple with more than just Chucky on the other side.
In the finale, “Jake faces his demons and a new type of evil in the quest to find Caroline.”
We’ll also be introduced to Chucky’s (literal) maker in this week’s “Final Destination,” with John Waters returning to the franchise to play Wendell Wilkins, the creator of the Good Guys!

With Chucky Season 3 coming to an end this Wednesday, I had the opportunity to catch up with Don Mancini! We talked all about the second half of Chucky Season 3, including expanding the franchise mythology, writing for the series' recurring characters, and old Chucky's nod to a Mario Bava classic!
Whether it's the films or the TV series, I've always appreciated how you've continued to evolve and expand the mythology in a really organic way. Now in this season, we have old-man Chucky, the afterlife, and more. Can you talk about your approach to expanding the world of Chucky?
