Truthfully depicted, atmospheric and emotional. The plot and picture are rich and interesting, especially considering such a small budget.
In view of recent events, interest in Ukrainian military films is growing. In my opinion, this movie is definitely worth watching. The depiction of the events preceding the Russian aggression is quite accurate. This is confirmed by a large number of underestimates from Rusbots.
This is not a high-budget blockbuster, not a Marvel fantasy, but a movie about people, about their experiences and about the sense of dignity and duty, the desire for freedom even in front of a stronger enemy.

I have been to the frontline on the Crimea border just a few meters from the little green man and the warzone in Donbass so I watched this movie with great curiosity.
Some of the stories in the movie, for example why people changed sides and joined the Russians, I heard from Ukrainian officers just after the events - they are accurate. The drinking "lifestyle" of rural Ukraine is also accurately and honestly depicted. The average Ukrainian village is indeed not a happy place.
This movie is of course shows the Ukrainain side of the story, but does not make monsters out of the Russians. Good point. This is not some cheap black and white propaganda flick. Still, the movie is confusing, with somewhat obscure storylines. Yes, there is a message in it, a bit too obvious to be really effective. With more skill, it could have been a good movie, but it is not. Still, for those interested in the war in Ukraine, I recommend it.

What impresses in this movie? The reality. The actors and the team didn't try to show Ukrainian side as an ideal and wonderful world which fights with the other. They showed a story of people who loved their motherland even if it is poor and is in trouble.
We see 2 stories - one is a Lev story. The 29 y.o. from village who lost all his connections to this world and finds his new life in Cherkasy ship.
The second story is the sailor world. With all their daily life, bad food, bad climate and soviet equipment.
When two these worlds collided with the third one - Russians, we feel the grief and misfortune of poor people. And real patriots.
Nice music at the end. Nice atmosphere. Thank you.

Have sponsored this mess of a ukranian heroic military flick. its a waiting gamefrom start to end, and at a scale of one to ten of heroism, this scores two. the russian annectation oc ukrainian crimea in 2014 was a cruel attack for sure, and the conflict is still going on, but this was a cheap deliverance of ukranian propagandism. its tells the difference between the patriot and the cujo, for the rest its just a story of a military ships cadaver dicipline and fresh seamen torture by the rules of the senior crew.
so as a historical document it doesnt qualify at all, productionwise its hyper analogue and made without the help of tomas dolby and the stereo brothers. theyve used the last remains of kodakcolour 35 mm cinemascope filmrolls to make this flare over the silverscreen, and as for the acting its daft, boring and absolutely out of order as a patriotic flick to cry out the national anthem for. ill bet the russians had a good laugh when viewing this.
the grumpy old man though ,have had great sympathies for the ukranian people after the insurgens and war activities started, so ill grant this flick a 4 in the memories of them lost lives and loss of existence and livelihood. a must see recommendation will not be cried out loud.
