Morten Tyldum was attached to helm this project, along with Alicia Vikander to star, when it was originally announced in the early developmental stages but the project never progressed as it's stayed in "development hell" as Tyldum eventually dropped out and moved on to other projects.
According to director Neil Burger, the crew often filmed scenes in the Canadian wilderness to make it look more authentic, but the remoteness of the filming locations meant that the cast and crew had to use multiple transportation methods and hike for over 30 minutes to set.
Both Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelssohn had starred in at least one Star Wars movie. Ridley was Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and Mendelssohn was Director Orson Callan Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016).
