Star Wars finds new Baylan Skoll, but where have we seen him before?
Image
Baylan Skoll is the sympathetic Sith in Disney+'s Ahsoka series brought to life by the late Ray Stevenson. A former ally turned mercenary by the Dark Side, Baylan wields a lightsaber with deadly precision as he aids the witch Elsbeth in unlocking ancient secrets in the show's first season.

Unfortunately, the untimely death of actor Ray Stevenson has left the character's fate up in the air for some time now. However, a first look at his successor was just revealed at Lucasfilm's Star Wars celebration in Japan. In Ahsoka's second season, Rory McCann will be our new Baylan Skoll.

Who is Rory McCann? Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and The Hound (Rory McCann) in Game of Thrones season 8.

While he might be new to the galaxy far, far away, fans of George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones series know him as Sandor Clegane or simply The Hound.

Christensen Returns for Ahsoka Season 2; McCann Joins Cast
Hayden Christensen
Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the second season of Ahsoka, Lucasfilm confirmed during the Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo. Production is scheduled to begin next week in the United Kingdom.

Christensen made a surprise appearance on stage following the screening of a brief scene featuring Anakin and Ahsoka. “There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for season two,” he told the audience, drawing cheers from the crowd. His return continues the storyline of Ahsoka Tano’s former Jedi Master, expanding on their history introduced in previous animated series and reestablished during his appearances in season one.

The panel, which included series creator Dave Filoni, executive producer Jon Favreau, and lead actor Rosario Dawson, also confirmed a major recasting. Rory McCann will take over the role of Baylan Skoll following the death of Ray Stevenson in May 2023. Stevenson had filmed...

‘Ahsoka’ Season 2: Hayden Christensen Returning As Anakin Skywalker, Rory McCann Taking Over Baylan Skol & More – Star Wars Celebration
Image
Gosh, it’s been a long time since the season one finale of Ahsoka — one year and seven months. But two teases came out of the Ahsoka panel tonight at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo about season 2, which is going into production next week. First, Hayden Christensen is coming back as Anakin Skywalker — that makes all the sense in the world. Anakin is the Jedi Master of Ahsoka, and the duo have a very complex relationship. But in more news, Game of Thrones‘ actor Rory McCann is stepping in to play evil Jedi Baylan Skol after the death of Ray Stevenson.

Also, Admiral Ackbar is returning — and that’s not a trap. “He’s going head-to-head with Thrawn,” promised Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni.

“It took all of my effort to resist writing the line — ‘It’s a trap!’ Because I’m like, I can’t do that, that would be so lame.

‘A Minecraft Movie’ Slays ‘King Kong’ & Two Kung-Fu Panda Movies To Become Jack Black’s Sixth Biggest Film
Image
After a dubious start to the year, with films such as Mickey 17 and The Alto Knightsunder-performing, Warner Bros. bounced back a couple of weeks ago with A Minecraft Movie. The video game adaptation broke opening weekend records, and recently passed the half-billion mark at the global box office. The big question now is if A Minecraft Movie has enough gas in its tanks to pass the $1 billion mark globally. If it does, it’ll become the second film of stars Jason Momoa and Jack Blackcareers to hit this coveted milestone, after the first Aquamanmovie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, respectively.

Both actors have experience with franchises; Momoa has appeared in the DC Extended Universe, while Black has headlined four Kung Fu Panda films and been a part of two Jumanji blockbusters. A Minecraft Movie is already among his highest-grossing hits, having passed King Kong's $556 million global haul from two decades ago.

How ‘A Minecraft Movie’ became the biggest box-office — and social media — hit of 2025
Image
A Minecraft Movie is now the biggest blockbuster of 2025.

Warner Bros.' adaptation of the wildly popular video game continued its box-office dominance over the weekend, earning $80.6 million between April 12 and 14. Directed by Jared Hess, the film’s domestic total now stands at an impressive $280.9 million, surpassing Disney/Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World ($199.9 million) to take the crown as 2025's top movie so far.

After just 10 days in theaters, A Minecraft Movie has already become the fourth-biggest box-office hit of Jack Black's career. Remarkably, Black's top three blockbusters are also connected to games: The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($574.9 million) in 2023, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ($404.5 million) in 2017, and Jumanji: The Next Level ($316.8 million) in 2019. With this latest achievement, A Minecraft Movie marks the 12th film in Black’s career to surpass the $100 million mark.

For costar Jason Momoa, A Minecraft Movie now ranks as his third-highest domestic grosser,...

5 Reasons ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Became a Record-Breaking Box Office Success
Image
Could you hear the collective sigh of relief across Hollywood?

After a dismal start to 2025, the box office has finally — at long last! — started to exhibit signs of life.

That’s thanks to the blockbuster success of “A Minecraft Movie,” a PG action-comedy starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa. The film, Warner Bros. and Legendary’s big screen take on the popular video game, has obliterated expectations by opening to $163 million domestically and $313 million globally. Those ticket sales rank as the biggest debut of the year, as well as the best in history for a game-to-film adaptation.

“It’s a real hit in the center of the bullseye,” said Warner Bros. global distribution chief Jeff Goldstein. “This is something the industry needed like air.”

Goldstein is optimistic that “Minecraft” will help turn the box office tides. Fortunes have already begun to shift. Prior to this weekend, box office revenues were...

Image
Hollywood fan-favorite Jack Black gives fans a major "spoiler alert" regarding the future of the Jumanjifranchise.

During an April 1 appearance on Today, Black was asked if he could confirm development on any sequel projects to his previous films. Black noted that it is unlikely School of Rock will be getting a follow-up film any time soon, though he promised that a fourth Jumanji film is "in the works." Black added that there was a "high" probability of a fourth Jumanji entering production, stating simply, "Spoiler alert, I'm in it!"

The Jumanji franchise kicked off with the 1995 film based on Chris Van Allsburg's 1981 children's picture book of the same name. Jumanji starred Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce as Judy and Peter Shepherd, two kid siblings who unleash the fantastical, terrifying jungle world held within the film's eponymous board game. "It's Been a Great, Great Ride": Jack Black Casts Uncertainty on 'Jumanji 4' Return
Image
It looks like Jack Black is tapping out of the jungle, as the actor has recently cast a worrying air of uncertainty over his return forJumanji4. Black first joined the adventure franchise in the 2017 reboot, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, playing Professor Sheldon Oberon, one of the in-game avatars, alongside Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan, among others. Following the release of the second film of the reboot, Jumanji: The Next Level(2019), fans have expected the core cast to return for the next sequel. However, Black’s recent comments suggest that the lineup for Jumanji 4 could be in for a potential shake-up.

Updates on Jumanji 4 have been few and far between, but fans were given a reason to celebrate when, in late 2024, the sequel was officially slated for a theatrical release on December 11, 2026. With about 20 months to go, some form of production should have been underway, but it appears...

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart Gets a Terrible News About Their Billion Dollar Movie Franchise
Image
Few celebrities in Hollywood have the dynamic that Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart have. While the industry has seen many iconic friendships bloom over the years, the verbal and physical comedy of the two actors can be studied, being responsible for some very hilarious interactions over the years.

It is because of this unique dynamic that fans enjoy seeing them star in the same film time and time again. The stars have worked together on five films, ranging from Central Intelligence to The Fast and the Furious franchise. However, Jumanji films have to be the most iconic moments of their career.

'Jumanji 4' Is Happening, but Jack Black Might Not Be Involved
Image
Jack Black famously starred in 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its 2019 sequel Jumanji: The Next Level alongside the other main players of Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart, but he has confirmed that he isn't yet involved with Jumanji 4 and is unsure whether he will claim a stake in the game to return for the third sequel to the 1995 Robin Williams adventure comedy despite it moving forward at Sony Pictures. He actually found it hard to believe it was happening after years of delays due to the pandemic, strikes, and scheduling conflicts among the all-star cast.

Despite facing some production hurdles, Jumanji 4 landed a 2026 release date at the backend of last year, but Black has cast doubt on whether he will come back for another turn in the franchise. Deadline asked him outright if audiences could expect to see him in the next Jumanji installment, to which he initially replied,...

Scooby-Doo Is Getting A New Live-Action Series On Netflix
Image
Scooby-Doo, where are you? The answer is, well, he's on his way to Netflix actually. Yes, 21 years after Mystery Incorporated's lovable Great Dane made his last live-action appearance in the heinously underrated, James Gunn penned Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Scoob and the gang — Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy of course — are set to solve a fresh set of mysteries in an all-new origin series for the streamer, created by Josh Appelbaum (From) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level).

Scoob and his mystery-solving human pals have been an iconic force in popular culture for over half a century at this point, with Hanna Barbera's original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? dating all the way back to 1969 and an eye-watering 13 more toon shows and 43 animated films having followed in the years since. For this self-ascribed "modern reimagining" of the franchise however, it looks like Appelbaum and Rosenberg are looking to...

Netflix Announces Live-Action 'Scooby-Doo' Series and Plot Details
Image
Scooby-Doois back, but it won't be how you left it. Netflix is officially tackling the next live-action adaptation of the beloved franchise, this time in the television format. In the early 2000s, there were famously two live-action Scooby-Doo movies made for the big screen, which eventually gained a cult status in the following years. However, Netflix is attempting to make the first modern spin on the property in live-action, this time following the blueprint set by other Hanna-Barbera TV adaptations.

Netflix has officially ordered an eight-episode Scooby-Doo series that will cover the origin of how the titular canine became part of the mystery-solving crew. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will be handling the project alongside producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (Berlanti Productions), and André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner (Midnight Radio). For those that recognize the Berlanti name, the live-action Riverdale series may come to mind. The...

‘Scooby-Doo’ Netflix Series Unveils Supernatural Premise and Freddy as the ‘New Kid’

We now know the premise of Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo show. The upcoming series will be an origin story of sorts, as it details how the gang teamed up and the first haunting mystery that started it all. When Kevin Hart’s Back-End Strategy Made Him A Hollywood Millionaire, Earning Up To $30M For Jumanji”
Image
Kevin Hart’s Back-End Salary Strategy ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Here’s the secret behind Kevin Hart’s massive Hollywood paycheck: it’s not about what you see on screen but about what happens before the cameras roll. While most stars sign up for big upfront paydays, Hart’s got a different playbook. His genius move? The back-end deal.

Take Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), a film that made over $800M globally. Kevin didn’t grab a fat paycheck up front. Instead, he bet on the movie’s success, taking less money in exchange for a cut of the profits. And guess what? That gamble paid off big time. Hart told James Corden, “If I had to make a rough guess… see, I’m a ‘back end player,’ so it’s not about what you take upfront. I don’t want upfront money for the movie, so I took less money and...

What 'Game of Thrones' actor is taking over as Ahsoka's villain?
Image
We now know who will take over for the late Ray Stevenson on Ahsoka and it’s a good choice for the part!

Ahsoka was one of the most anticipated Star Wars shows when it debuted in 2023. It focused on the long-popular character from The Clone Wars animated series, former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), as she handles life in the post-Empire galaxy.

The series was a live-action sequel to the beloved Rebels animated series, with Ahsoka reuniting with old pals Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). This involved a search for former would-be Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi).

The biggest part of the show was that it finally brought into live-action one of the greatest villains of the Star Wars universe, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). He was aided by the Nightsisters alongside Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno).

The fourth season was confirmed in April 2024. The finale of the second season of the series, set on the U.S.S. Enterprise, aired in August 2023.

Game of Thrones vet Rory McCann will reportedly replace Ray Stevenson in Ahsoka season 2
Image
When Lucasfilm's Star Wars series Ahsoka premiered back in 2023, one of the standout characters was an enigmatic Sith lord named Baylan Skoll, played by seasoned actor Ray Stevenson. Stevenson has appeared in tons of shows and movies over the years, including Black Sails and Dexter; he excelled at playing villains who had such a deeply likable streak that you came to love them just as much as the heroes. Sadly, Baylan Skoll was one of Stevenson's final roles, as he died shortly before Ahsoka premiered.

That's left the fate of the character in question. Would Lucasfilm recast? Would they leave him wandering the wilds of Peridea, where he clearly had some mysterious goal he was chasing?

Now, it looks like the former won out. According to Hollywood scoop finder Jeff Sneider (via TV Line), Disney and Lucasfilm have recast Baylan Skoll with none other than Rory McCann, best known...

Ahsoka Season 2 Will See Game Of Thrones' Rory McCann Replace The Late Ray Stevenson As Baylan Skoll
Image
Star Wars fans had wondered if we might see Baylan Skoll in the galaxy far, far away again despite actor Ray Stevenson's passing, and we now have confirmation that the character will return for the upcoming second season of Ahsoka.

First reported by Jeff Sneider and later confirmed by THR, Scottish actor Rory McCann, best known for playing The Hound on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to take over as Skoll in season 2 of the Disney+ Star Wars series.

Stevenson, who sadly died back in May of 2023 just before his 58th birthday, played the villainous(?) former Jedi in the series, and the finale featured his last scene as the character, as we see the powerful Force-wielder standing on the ruins of a mountain-sized sculpture of the Mortis gods.

Skoll didn't have a big part to play in the events of the concluding episode, but Stevenson would undoubtedly...
