I just found this series. It's enjoyable enough, but some things really stand out. They have an absolutely perfect complement of every 'type' of person on their team: black, white, Asian, bisexual, plus a female captain that is an immigrant. A little heavy handed with the political correctness.
Plus, I am having a hard time believing Cortez would rise to the rank of Captain at her age, passing by older and more experienced officers. She just doesn't fit the role. She seems tentative and, forgive me, too girly.
The romance between Hondo and Cortez isn't believable, either. But that's pretty typical with Shemar Moore. I like him, but he just doesn't 'do' romance well. He's definitely eye candy but I'm not sure he's the one to carry the show. Frankly, Jay Harrington is a better actor and more believable in his role.
Overall, the show is decent enough that I will keep watching it, but it's not superb.
