If you've ever set foot in an arcade, then you'll probably have encountered The House Of The Dead, Sega's legendary light-gun shoot 'em up. Famed for bringing running zombies to the turn of the millennium and helping spawn the zombie horror gaming boom alongside Resident Evil, the mainline Hotd franchise has spanned five games — and two woeful movies — to date. But, per Deadline's reporting, the undead hordes are now preparing to run back to the big screen once again courtesy of game-to-screen veteran Paul W.S. Anderson, director of Mortal Kombat, Monster Hunter, a fistful of _Resident Evil_s, and of course Event Horizon.
Pitched as a real-time horror emulative of the experience of playing a House Of The Dead game, Anderson's movie — which the director will produce alongside longtime collaborator Jeremy Bolt — is set to follow the plot of the third game in the series. Speaking to Deadline,...

Over 20 years after Uwe Boll turned the video game The House of the Dead into a horror movie, Deadline reports that Paul W.S Anderson is making a House of the Dead movie of his own.
Paul W.S Anderson will write and direct the new adaptation of Sega’s zombie game, which debuted back in 1997 and spawned a franchise as well as a remake in 2022. That original game, along with Resident Evil, is credited for kickstarting the zombie resurgence of the time.
Deadline recaps, “In the arcade game, players take on the role of Ams agents, a government agency tasked with thwarting the conspiracies of organizations that threaten the world. The title comes from the bureau they work for, because their life expectancies are brief.”
“I’ve loved the video game since the nineties,” Anderson tells Deadline. “Back then I was a big player of video games in arcades, which...

Exclusive: Paul W.S. Anderson will write and direct The House of the Dead, an action-packed feature based on the legacy Sega franchise.
Anderson will produce alongside his partner Jeremy Bolt, Sega’s Toru Nakahara will produce along with Story Kitchen’s Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg and Dan Jevons. Timothy I. Stevenson will be executive producer.
Anderson and Bolt have brought several game franchises to the screen successfully, including Mortal Kombat, the Resident Evil franchise, and most recently Monster Hunter.
The House of the Dead debuted in 1996 as an “on-rails shooter” game, fast-paced action/horror with a groundbreaking zombie premise. That included the innovation of giving its undead villains the ability to run, something that inspired films from Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake and Marc Forster-directed World War Z. In The Lost Lands, from Paul W S Anderson, is heading to cinemas in 2025, based on the short story by George R R Martin.
The first new film from director Paul W S Anderson since his videogame adaptation Monster Hunter in 2020 is In The Lost Lands.
It’s an adaptation of a George R R Martin story, with the project first announced back in 2021. Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista signed up to appear at that stage too, and the movie is now in post-production.
It’s flown a bit under the radar, but it’s back in the news (via Deadline) now as the US rights for the movie have just been snapped up. Vertical has acquired the film in the States, and has confirmed a cinema release for it as well. We wait to see who’s acquiring it in the UK.

The demands and requests for a Dino Crisis remake have been growing over the years. Fans of the survival horror game have been seeing its competitors from back in the day brought into the modern generation of gaming and wonder when it would be their turn next.
Released in 1999, the game is now over two decades old but still has a pretty strong fan base. A remake for the same could do very well, but it seems Shinji Mikami may not feel the same, and that is not going to go down well with the community.

For the most part, Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise has managed to remain true to its guns, offering gamers everything they’ve expected from a Monster Hunter game, with a few innovations here and there. However, the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds looks to be a completely different story.
Sure, not everything in the upcoming Monster Hunter game is brand new, but Capcom seems to have taken the franchise’s beloved formula and bent the rules enough to give us an installment that feels like a fresh experience that ultimately relies on its well-established base. Unfortunately, it looks like the game’s console’s experience might be jeopardized due to it being locked to 30 Fps.

Miller’s new project follows the Love, Death + Robots formula in so much as it’s built on original short stories but set in video game worlds. Details about Secret Level remain a mystery, including which games Miller and his team intend to adapt. According to Deadline, Amazon Games’ New World, Spelunky, and Playstation titles could be a part of the series. It’s worth noting that Gamescom is coming up, and there’s a chance that Secret Level could be a part of the showcase’s opening night. Amazon MGM Studios and Blur Studio produce Secret Level. Dave Wilson serves as executive producer and supervising director.

Hollywood is assembling a force to be reckoned with as Rosario Dawson joins Alexandra Shipp and Milla Jovovich for the upcoming action thriller Midnight. Dawson joins the project as a producer and actor, with first-time filmmaker Joshua Otis Miller directing for Yale Productions. The plan is to shop the project for potential buyers at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
According to Deadline, Midnight revolves around a young, blind woman (Shipp) who is hunted by a collective of international criminals led by Jovovich’s character. The deadly group wants a package they believe was given to Shipp’s character by her federal agent sister (Dawson). The group assumes stealing from the visually impaired will be easy, but that assumption is about to go terribly wrong. Lamont Magee and Jeff Byrd wrote the script.

For generations in Hollywood, where films span from dramatic roles to whimsical comedies, actors have often sought fresh and unconventional challenges leading to both critical acclaim and curious experiments. One such leap into the unknown came from Cate Blanchett when she took on the role of Lilith in Eli Roth’s recently released video game adaptation Borderlands.

“Street Fighter” has landed a March 20, 2026 domestic release date from Sony. The film, from Legendary, is co-developed and produced with Japanese game distributor Capcom.
Legendary nabbed the film and television rights to the highly popular gaming series in 2023. Since the franchise launched in 1987, Street Fighter has sold over 49 million units worldwide, becoming one of the most well-known and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time.
It also spawned other games, spin-offs and crossovers featuring characters like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile and M. Bison. Capcom is behind other popular games like “Resident Evil” and “Monster Hunter.”
This isn’t the first time “Street Fighter” has hit the big screen. Universal mounted an adaptation of the same name in 1994, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen and Raul Julia. In 2009, 20th Century Fox released “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” with Kristin Kreuk. Both projets were critical and commercial misfires.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is Atlus’ brand new IP. Atlus is well known for creating the Persona series, but now the studio is taking what it's learned over the past several decades to take a stab at the fantasy genre rather than the typical Japanese high school life. I went hands-on with Metaphor: ReFantazio at Summer Game Fest 2024, spending one hour split across three different self-contained portions of the game. Unsurprisingly, Metaphor: ReFantazio feels very familiar to Persona in terms of core gameplay loop, but it still manages to stand out in several ways in its story, gameplay mechanics, and characters. Related: Fitness Boxing Feat. Hatsune Miku Gets in the Ring on Switch This Fall The first portion of the demo was called “Scenario,” which showed off some of the game’s story. It introduced Gallica, the protagonist's fairy companion. Much like Persona , the protagonist can choose different dialogue options to respond to other characters.

When Monster Hunter World was released in 2018, it took the ahem world by storm. Its immense popularity skyrocketed the series to new heights and sales figures, finally bringing it to the mainstream spotlight. Now, almost seven years later, Capcom is following up lofty expectations with Monster Hunter Wilds . I was able to catch a 30-minute hands off demo of the game, and it looks like a worthy successor that builds upon the solid foundation set by World . Monster Hunter Wilds primarily takes place in a desert area, a contrast to World ’s lush and grassy areas, as well as the icy tundras from its expansion, Iceborne . However, even though the land is dry, there’s just as much abundance of life as ever. Max Payne is a very popular and beloved video game series that is known for its innovative gameplay and good story. The game’s protagonist was a former NYPD detective, who turned into a vigilante after the brutal murder of his family.
In 2008, Max Payne got a movie adaptation which was highly anticipated as the game’s story was captivating and fans always thought it was made for the big screen. But the movie didn’t perform very well and most fans think that’s the case because Mark Wahlberg was picked as the protagonist.

Mark Wahlberg is a great actor and can draw people to the theater but many fans thought that Wahlberg’s depiction of Max Payne was very poor. His portrayal lacked the depth and intensity that the character showed in video games.

Back in 2010, the video game industry was starting to enter a phase where developers (old and new alike) tried new platforms to test their creative freedom. Hideo Kojima was no different, and he took the PSP’s potential to actualize an experiment that would mean a lot of things.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was an entry that not only brought him some time while the team tested new things but also ‘accidentally‘ made for one of the most unique games to have come out on the little beast; the PlayStation Portable. There’s more to this story than we may have imagined.

Dragon’s Dogma’s creative breakthrough—as a series, since much of what the sequel does was introduced in the 2012 original—is that it conceives of the RPG adventure not as a string of combat encounters or dialogue decisions, but as often arduous traveling through dangerous, unpredictable lands—with all the planning, consequences, and improvisation that entails. This angle is so daring and unusual that Dragon’s Dogma 2, which once again sees you set out as the chosen Arisen on a quest to slay the mighty Dragon (or at least it seems that simple at first), somehow feels unlike anything else that’s been released since the first game.
The loop of the game is in many ways similar to that of other action RPGs. Quests send you out into the wilderness to complete tasks and fight monsters before having you return to town to buy equipment and learn skills. This is a familiar rhythm,...

Dusk Golem explains that Capcom tends to greenlight new initiatives in threes, often in close succession. This pattern has been observed in the past with games like Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5, which were all greenlit closely together to use the full extent of the (at the time) new Re Engine.

Capcom has announced today that Monster Hunter World has surpassed the 25 million global sales milestone.
World was the first title in the longstanding Monster Hunter series to have a simultaneous global launch. While the series garnered a fan following in Japan since its inception in 2004, it was 2018’s Monster Hunter World that brought the series, as its name would check out, massive worldwide appeal.
As shared by Capcom, Monster Hunter World now has the highest number of single-title sales among games from the Japanese company. However, if we had to go by series-wide numbers, it would be Resident Evil, and by a long shot, according to Statista‘s report. The Resident Evil series has a whooping 154 million titles sold across the series, with Monster Hunter sitting at 97 million currently.
Speaking of which, Monster Hunter could be on its way to catch up. The series has its next entry in the...

Beyond all the lore and theories that surround Elden Ring, there are a lot of stories and artwork that present themselves as a product of inspiration from The Lands Between. It’s not unusual to see a work of fan art and storytelling that finds its home in FromSoftware’s harsh universe.
However, every once in a while, there’s a piece of fiction that shakes up the source material in some way without messing with it. Yet, it uses this narrative to create newer stories of friendship and love. Such is the case with an upcoming novel that is based on the story of two co-workers who connect with each other.
The Tale of Two Individuals Who Share Their Love for Elden Ring It’s going to be a story worth falling for.
If there was a romanticized story of two die-hard fans of Elden Ring, this would probably be it.

There is only a month left till we finally see Dragon’s Dogma 2 arrive on our consoles or PCs, and now, thanks to a recent teaser from games director Hideaki Itsuno, there could be a major feature coming to the game that could change the future of the genre and potentially gaming itself.
For many gamers, this feature may not be as important as a well-balanced combat system, a detailed story, perfectly rendered characters, or other features, but for many gamers, this is something that could completely change how a game acts and feels, and that is the frame rate at which the game can be played.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Will Be Bringing an Uncapped Frame Rate to All Platforms According to a Recent Tweet. Dragon’s Dogma 2 could be released with an uncapped frame rate.

After Final Fantasy VII Remake shattered almost every expectation of what a remake could be, it feels like a deliberate act of comfort that the first chapter of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is so very familiar: the flashback to Cloud’s last mission with Sephiroth.
It begins with a long truck ride, where we find a young, doe-eyed Cloud doing stretches ahead of helping his hometown of Nibelheim with its monster problem while his team leader, Sephiroth, watches on with detached amusement. The same niceties that resulted in a more detailed Midgar in Remake help paint an even more detailed one of the flashback scene in Rebirth compared to the original Final Fantasy VII. Walking into Nibelheim, Sephiroth is almost a warm, doting presence, genuinely curious about the idea of having a hometown to return to. Cloud himself gets to wander the city, including its alleyways full of stray cats,...
