This series is based on an original series concept co-developed by Bruce Lee for a proposed TV series that ultimately was modified into Kung Fu (1972).
Lee, O'harra, Bolo and Mei Ling were named after the characters in Enter the Dragon (1973). In the film, Bruce Lee and Bolo Yeung use their real name as "Lee" and "Bolo", respectively.
On 15 April 2021, it was announced that the series has been renewed for a third series and will move to HBO Max, as Cinemax has ceased to produce original content.
